Morning Adhkar

Sahih Muslim (385)

What to Say When You Hear “Hayya ‘ala as-Salah”? A Dhikr That Leads to Paradise

The Prophet ﷺ said: “When the Mu’adhdhin says: ‘Hayya ‘ala as-Salah’ and ‘Hayya ‘ala al-Falah,’ say: ‘La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.’ Whoever says it sincerely from the heart will enter Paradise.”

Sahih Muslim (385)

Virtue of Saying the Testimony After Hearing the Adhan

On the authority of Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says when he hears the Mu’adhdhin: ‘I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as a Messenger, and with Islam as a religion,’ his sins will be forgiven."

Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

The Virtue of Sending Blessings on the Prophet and Asking for Al-Waseelah after the Adhan

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-As (may Allah be pleased with them): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: “When you hear the call to prayer, say what the caller says, then send blessings upon me, for whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold. Then ask Allah for Al-Waseelah, for it is a rank in Paradise that none but a servant of Allah may attain, and I hope that I am that servant. Whoever asks for Al-Waseelah for me, my intercession will be guaranteed for him.”

The Virtue of Supplicating When Hearing the Adhan

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever says when he hears the call to prayer: 'O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, grant Muhammad the intercession and favor, and raise him to the praised position You promised him,' my intercession will be permitted for him on the Day of Resurrection."

Prophetic Hadith

What to Say After Hearing the Adhan

O Allah, send prayers, peace, and blessings upon our Master Muhammad. O Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, grant Muhammad the means and virtue, and raise him to the praised station You promised him. Indeed, You do not break Your promise.

Prophetic Hadith

What is said between Adhan and Iqama

Between the Adhan and the Iqama, supplication is encouraged and recommended. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Supplication is not rejected between the Adhan and the Iqama." He also said: "Indeed, supplication is not rejected between the Adhan and the Iqama, so pray."

Sahih Muslim, Sahih Al-Bukhari

Iqamah (Call to Commence the Prayer)

Narrated ʿAbdullāh ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him): He came to the Prophet ﷺ with a dream about the Adhan and Iqamah. The Prophet ﷺ said: “It is a true dream in shā’ Allah. Go and teach it to Bilāl, and let him say it.” In other narrations: Narrated ‘Abdullah ibn Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Prophet ﷺ intended to establish the call for the Iqama, ‘Abdullah ibn Zaid saw in a dream an angel teaching him the wording of the Iqama. He informed the Prophet ﷺ about it, who said: “Indeed, it is a true vision, if Allah wills. Go to Bilal and convey it to him, and let him call with it, for his voice is sweeter than yours.” Then the Prophet ﷺ ordered Bilal to call the Adhan with that wording.
