The Prophet’s Selection from Among Mankind

Wāthilah ibn al-Asqaʿ reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Indeed, Allah chose Kinānah from the descendants of Ismāʿīl, and He chose Quraysh from Kinānah, and He chose Hāshim from Quraysh, and He chose me from among Banū Hāshim.”

When Prophethood Was Decreed for the Prophet

Abū Hurayrah reported:
They said, “O Messenger of Allah, when was prophethood made obligatory for you?”
He said: “While Adam was between the spirit and the body.”

The Banner of Praise is in the Hand of the Prophet

Anas ibn Mālik reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“I will be the first of the people to emerge when they are resurrected, and I will be their speaker when they are gathered, and I will be their bearer of glad tidings when they despair. The Banner of Praise will be in my hand that Day, and I am the most honored of the children of Adam before my Lord — and this is no boast.”

Ask Allah to Grant Me al-Wasīlah

Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Ask Allah to grant me al-Wasīlah.”
They said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is al-Wasīlah?”
He said:
“It is the highest rank in Paradise; no one attains it except one man, and I hope that I will be that man.”

My Example Among the Prophets Is Like a Man Who Built a House

Kaʿb narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“My likeness among the prophets is like a man who built a house and perfected it, completed it, and beautified it — but left a place for one brick. People began walking around the building, admiring it, and saying:
‘If only the place of that brick were completed!’
And I am, among the prophets, the place of that brick.”

Then Ask Allah to Grant Me al-Wasīlah

From ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, who heard the Prophet ﷺ say:
“When you hear the mu’adhdhin, say as he says; then send blessings upon me, for whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah sends ten upon him.
Then ask for al-Wasīlah for me, for it is a rank in Paradise that is befitting only for one servant of Allah’s servants, and I hope that I will be that one. And whoever asks al-Wasīlah for me, the intercession becomes due for him.”

I Am the Master of the Children of Adam, and This Is No Boast

From Abū Saʿīd, who said:
“I am the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, and this is no boast; and in my hand will be the Banner of Praise, and this is no boast; and there is no prophet on that day — Adam and those after him — except that he will be under my banner; and I am the first for whom the earth will split open, and this is no boast.”

The Day the Prophet Entered Madinah, Everything Became Illuminated

From Anas ibn Mālik, who said:
“On the day when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entered Madinah, everything in it became illuminated; and on the day when he died, everything in it became darkened. And we had not yet shaken the dust from our hands after burying the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) before we felt our hearts had changed.”
