Prophet Ayyub (peace be upon him) is a profound Qur’anic example of steadfast patience during hardship. The Qur’an does not specify the exact nature or length of his illness; instead, it highlights the core lesson: a righteous servant may be tested, remains devoted, calls upon Allah, and is granted relief.
In Surah Al-Anbiya (21:83), Ayyub calls upon his Lord, saying that harm has touched him and Allah is the Most Merciful of the merciful.
Allah states that He answered Ayyub, removed the harm, and restored his family and the like of them as mercy and a reminder for worshippers (21:84).
Surah Sad (38:41–42) describes Allah directing Ayyub to strike the ground with his foot; then there is cool water for washing and drinking—teaching that trust in Allah can coexist with taking practical means.
The Qur’an praises Ayyub as patient and constantly returning to Allah (38:44).
Many detailed narratives about Ayyub’s illness circulate online. Since the Qur’an does not confirm those details, the most reliable approach is to remain Qur’an-based and avoid asserting unverified specifics.
