The Story of Prophet Ilyas (Elijah) (PBUH)

Prophet Img!

Prophet Ilyas (peace be upon him) is mentioned in the Qur’an, and his core message is presented in Surah As-Saffat. The Qur’an focuses on the essential lesson: calling people to worship Allah alone (Tawhid) and rejecting false worship. It does not specify detailed historical locations or timelines, keeping the guidance universal.

Ilyas (PBUH) calls his people to piety and Tawhid

In Surah As-Saffat (37:123–132), Allah describes Ilyas as one of the messengers. He said to his people, urging them to be mindful of Allah, and asked why they worship “Baal” while abandoning the worship of Allah—the best of creators, their Lord and the Lord of their forefathers.

Denial and the salvation of the sincere

The Qur’an states that many denied him and would be brought to account, except Allah’s sincere servants. This highlights that sincerity and true faith are a path to salvation.

Honor and good mention

Allah also mentions that He left a good mention for Ilyas among later generations, with peace upon him, and that Allah rewards those who do good—affirming that Ilyas was among Allah’s believing servants.
