What are the conditions for a valid prayer?

Conditions for the Validity of Prayer (Salat)

For a prayer to be valid and accepted by Allah, certain conditions must be met. The main conditions are:

  1. Purity (Tahara):
The worshipper must be free from major and minor impurities; they should have performed ablution (wudu) or ritual purification (ghusl) if in a state of major impurity.
  2. Covering the ‘Awrah:
The worshipper must cover the parts of the body that must be concealed, whether male or female.
  3. Facing the Qibla:
The worshipper must face the Qibla (the Kaaba) with both body and heart.
  4. Intention (Niyyah):
The worshipper must have a sincere and clear intention in the heart to perform the prayer, whether obligatory (fard) or voluntary (nafl).
  5. Time:
The prayer must be performed within its prescribed time; it is not valid if delayed beyond its legitimate time.

When these conditions are fulfilled, the prayer is valid and accepted by Allah, and it is considered one of the most important and rewarding acts of worship in Islam.
