Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Decree)
Laylat al-Qadr is considered one of the greatest nights in Islam. It is a special and blessed night with many unique signs that distinguish it from other nights. Laylat al-Qadr is the night when the Qur’an was first revealed, and the Qur’an highlights the greatness and virtue of this night. Allah says in Surah Al-Qadr:
"Indeed, We sent it [the Qur’an] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months." (Al-Qadr: 1-3)
Laylat al-Qadr can be recognized through specific signs in the atmosphere and people’s behavior, including calm and peaceful surroundings, people flocking to mosques for worship, and a faint light in the sky.
Understanding the signs of Laylat al-Qadr and preparing to welcome it with worship and righteous deeds is one of the best ways to benefit from this great night. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"Whoever stands in prayer on the Night of Decree out of faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven." (Bukhari & Muslim)
Muslims should recognize the signs of Laylat al-Qadr, prepare with worship and remembrance, and dedicate themselves to gaining Allah’s pleasure.

These signs may vary from person to person and situation to situation. The most important aspect is to spend the night in worship and remembrance of Allah.
