How to recognize the presence of magic in the house?
The answer to this question is not as simple as some might think, as there is no sensory or scientific method that can definitively determine the exact location of magic in a home. When considering how to recognize the location of magic, it is important to first emphasize that knowledge of the unseen belongs only to Allah. Therefore, claiming to know the exact location of magic is a form of speculation without solid religious evidence. What can be discussed are the signs or symptoms that may appear in the house or among its inhabitants, which, Allah knows best, could indicate unnatural influences and signal the need for ruqyah (spiritual healing) and protective measures.
Some may try to search for unusual or hidden physical objects to locate magic. In reality, the person who performed the magic, or an accomplice, may hide magical materials somewhere inside the house or its surroundings. However, magic does not necessarily have a physical form; its effects can also result from evil acts or ill intentions without any tangible object.
Instead of focusing solely on the physical location of magic, it is more important to pay attention to unusual changes and events in the household, among family members, or in their psychological and physical well-being. Examples include: feeling persistent distress, repeated problems, things not going as expected, unusual smells or insects, hearing unfamiliar sounds, furniture damage, laziness, or recurring nightmares. These signs may indicate the need for spiritual protection and ruqyah.
Ultimately, rather than excessively searching for the location of magic using unreliable or imaginary methods, one should turn to Allah, seek protection through the Qur’an and supplications, purify the house with ruqyah, and, if needed, consult a trustworthy spiritual healer. True protection from magic and its effects comes through reliance on Allah and adherence to His guidance.
