Laylat al-Qadr and Its Supplications

Laylat al-Qadr is a blessed night mentioned in the Qur’an. It is better than a thousand months. On this night, Allah sends down angels and the Spirit (Gabriel). Laylat al-Qadr is a secret night; no one knows exactly when it occurs. However, the Hadith indicates that it falls during the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially on the odd-numbered (witr) nights.

Some recommended supplications for Laylat al-Qadr:

• “O Allah! You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me.” (Tirmidhi)
• “O Allah! If You have written me among the wretched, write me among the happy.” (Tirmidhi)
• “O Allah! I ask You for Paradise and whatever brings me closer to it, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever brings me closer to it.” (Bukhari)
• “O Allah! I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the Hereafter.” (Bukhari)
• “O Allah! Forgive all my sins, the small and the great, the first and the last, the hidden and the open.” (Muslim)

Supplications reported from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for Laylat al-Qadr:

• “O Allah! You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me.” (Tirmidhi)
• “O Allah! You know my secret and my public deeds; forgive me in my secret and my public. You know my weakness and my strength; forgive me in my weakness and my strength. You know my need and poverty; forgive me in my need and poverty. You know what is in my soul; O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, forgive me.” (Tirmidhi)

A Muslim may also make any personal supplication from the heart. The important thing is that the prayer is sincere and made humbly to Allah. It is recommended to refer to the Hadith books for more supplications.
