Basmala
بِسْمِٱللَّهِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
l-raḥīmil-raḥmānil-lahibis'mi
In (the) name(of) Allahthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful
1:1
ٱلْحَمْدُلِلَّهِرَبِّٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīnarabbilillahial-ḥamdu
All praises and thanks(be) to Allahthe Lordof the universe
1:2
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
l-raḥīmial-raḥmāni
The Most Graciousthe Most Merciful
1:3
مَـٰلِكِيَوْمِٱلدِّينِ
l-dīniyawmimāliki
(The) Master(of the) Day(of the) Judgment
1:4
إِيَّاكَنَعْبُدُوَإِيَّاكَنَسْتَعِينُ
nastaʿīnuwa-iyyākanaʿbuduiyyāka
You Alonewe worshipand You Alonewe ask for help
1:5
ٱهْدِنَاٱلصِّرَٰطَٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
l-mus'taqīmal-ṣirāṭaih'dinā
Guide us(to) the paththe straight
1:6
صِرَٰطَٱلَّذِينَأَنْعَمْتَعَلَيْهِمْغَيْرِٱلْمَغْضُوبِعَلَيْهِمْوَلَاٱلضَّآلِّينَ
l-ḍālīnawalāʿalayhiml-maghḍūbighayriʿalayhimanʿamtaalladhīnaṣirāṭa
(The) path(of) thoseYou have bestowed (Your) Favorson themnot (of)those who earned (Your) wrathon themselvesand not(of) those who go astray
1:7
Basmala
الٓمٓ
alif-lam-meem
Alif Laam Meem
2:1
ذَٰلِكَٱلْكِتَـٰبُلَارَيْبَ ۛفِيهِ ۛهُدًۭىلِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
lil'muttaqīnahudanfīhiraybalāl-kitābudhālika
That(is) the booknodoubtin ita Guidancefor the God-conscious
2:2
ٱلَّذِينَيُؤْمِنُونَبِٱلْغَيْبِوَيُقِيمُونَٱلصَّلَوٰةَوَمِمَّارَزَقْنَـٰهُمْيُنفِقُونَ
yunfiqūnarazaqnāhumwamimmāl-ṣalatawayuqīmūnabil-ghaybiyu'minūnaalladhīna
Those whobelievein the unseenand establishthe prayerand out of whatWe have provided themthey spend
2:3
وَٱلَّذِينَيُؤْمِنُونَبِمَآأُنزِلَإِلَيْكَوَمَآأُنزِلَمِنقَبْلِكَوَبِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِهُمْيُوقِنُونَ
yūqinūnahumwabil-ākhiratiqablikaminunzilawamāilaykaunzilabimāyu'minūnawa-alladhīna
And those whobelievein what(is) sent downto youand whatwas sent downfrombefore youand in the Hereaftertheyfirmly believe
2:4
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَعَلَىٰهُدًۭىمِّنرَّبِّهِمْ ۖوَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَهُمُٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
l-muf'liḥūnahumuwa-ulāikarabbihimminhudanʿalāulāika
Those(are) onGuidancefromtheir Lordand those they(are) the successful ones
2:5
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟سَوَآءٌعَلَيْهِمْءَأَنذَرْتَهُمْأَمْلَمْتُنذِرْهُمْلَايُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnalātundhir'humlamama-andhartahumʿalayhimsawāonkafarūalladhīnainna
Indeedthose whodisbelieve[d](it) is sameto themwhether you warn themornotyou warn themnotthey believe
2:6
خَتَمَٱللَّهُعَلَىٰقُلُوبِهِمْوَعَلَىٰسَمْعِهِمْ ۖوَعَلَىٰٓأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْغِشَـٰوَةٌۭ ۖوَلَهُمْعَذَابٌعَظِيمٌۭ
ʿaẓīmunʿadhābunwalahumghishāwatunabṣārihimwaʿalāsamʿihimwaʿalāqulūbihimʿalāl-lahukhatama
Has set a sealAllahontheir heartsand ontheir hearingand ontheir vision(is) a veilAnd for them(is) a punishmentgreat
2:7
وَمِنَٱلنَّاسِمَنيَقُولُءَامَنَّابِٱللَّهِوَبِٱلْيَوْمِٱلْـَٔاخِرِوَمَاهُمبِمُؤْمِنِينَ
bimu'minīnahumwamāl-ākhiriwabil-yawmibil-lahiāmannāyaqūlumanl-nāsiwamina
And ofthe people(are some) whosayWe believedin Allahand in the Day[the] Lastbut notthey(are) believers (at all)
2:8
يُخَـٰدِعُونَٱللَّهَوَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟وَمَايَخْدَعُونَإِلَّآأَنفُسَهُمْوَمَايَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūnawamāanfusahumillāyakhdaʿūnawamāāmanūwa-alladhīnal-lahayukhādiʿūna
They seek to deceiveAllahand those whobelieve[d]and notthey deceiveexceptthemselvesand notthey realize (it)
2:9
فِىقُلُوبِهِممَّرَضٌۭفَزَادَهُمُٱللَّهُمَرَضًۭا ۖوَلَهُمْعَذَابٌأَلِيمٌۢبِمَاكَانُوا۟يَكْذِبُونَ
yakdhibūnakānūbimāalīmunʿadhābunwalahummaraḍanl-lahufazādahumumaraḍunqulūbihimfī
Intheir hearts(is) a diseaseso has increased themAllah(in) diseaseand for them(is) a punishmentpainfulbecausethey used to[they] lie
2:10
وَإِذَاقِيلَلَهُمْلَاتُفْسِدُوا۟فِىٱلْأَرْضِقَالُوٓا۟إِنَّمَانَحْنُمُصْلِحُونَ
muṣ'liḥūnanaḥnuinnamāqālūl-arḍifītuf'sidūlālahumqīlawa-idhā
And whenit is saidto them(Do) notspread corruptioninthe earththey sayOnlywe(are) reformers
2:11
أَلَآإِنَّهُمْهُمُٱلْمُفْسِدُونَوَلَـٰكِنلَّايَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūnalāwalākinl-muf'sidūnahumuinnahumalā
Bewareindeed theythemselves(are) the ones who spread corruption[and] butnotthey realize (it)
2:12
وَإِذَاقِيلَلَهُمْءَامِنُوا۟كَمَآءَامَنَٱلنَّاسُقَالُوٓا۟أَنُؤْمِنُكَمَآءَامَنَٱلسُّفَهَآءُ ۗأَلَآإِنَّهُمْهُمُٱلسُّفَهَآءُوَلَـٰكِنلَّايَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnalāwalākinl-sufahāuhumuinnahumalāl-sufahāuāmanakamāanu'minuqālūl-nāsuāmanakamāāminūlahumqīlawa-idhā
And whenit is saidto themBelieveasbelievedthe peoplethey sayShould we believeasbelievedthe foolsBewarecertainly theythemselves(are) the fools[and] butnotthey know
2:13
وَإِذَالَقُوا۟ٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟قَالُوٓا۟ءَامَنَّاوَإِذَاخَلَوْا۟إِلَىٰشَيَـٰطِينِهِمْقَالُوٓا۟إِنَّامَعَكُمْإِنَّمَانَحْنُمُسْتَهْزِءُونَ
mus'tahziūnanaḥnuinnamāmaʿakuminnāqālūshayāṭīnihimilākhalawwa-idhāāmannāqālūāmanūalladhīnalaqūwa-idhā
And whenthey meetthose whobelieve[d]they sayWe believe[d]But whenthey are alonewiththeir evil onesthey sayIndeed, we(are) with youonlywe(are) mockers
2:14
ٱللَّهُيَسْتَهْزِئُبِهِمْوَيَمُدُّهُمْفِىطُغْيَـٰنِهِمْيَعْمَهُونَ
yaʿmahūnaṭugh'yānihimfīwayamudduhumbihimyastahzi-ual-lahu
Allahmocksat themand prolongs themintheir transgressionthey wander blindly
2:15
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَٱلَّذِينَٱشْتَرَوُا۟ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةَبِٱلْهُدَىٰفَمَارَبِحَتتِّجَـٰرَتُهُمْوَمَاكَانُوا۟مُهْتَدِينَ
muh'tadīnakānūwamātijāratuhumrabiḥatfamābil-hudāl-ḍalālataish'tarawūalladhīnaulāika
Those(are) the ones whobought[the] astrayingfor [the] guidanceSo notprofitedtheir commerceand notwere theyguided-ones
2:16
مَثَلُهُمْكَمَثَلِٱلَّذِىٱسْتَوْقَدَنَارًۭافَلَمَّآأَضَآءَتْمَاحَوْلَهُۥذَهَبَٱللَّهُبِنُورِهِمْوَتَرَكَهُمْفِىظُلُمَـٰتٍۢلَّايُبْصِرُونَ
yub'ṣirūnalāẓulumātinfīwatarakahumbinūrihiml-lahudhahabaḥawlahumāaḍāatfalammānāranis'tawqadaalladhīkamathalimathaluhum
Their example(is) like (the) example(of) the one whokindleda firethen, whenit illuminatedwhat(was) around himtook awayAllahtheir lightand left themindarkness[es](so) not(do) they see
2:17
صُمٌّۢبُكْمٌعُمْىٌۭفَهُمْلَايَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūnalāfahumʿum'yunbuk'munṣummun
Deafdumbblindso theynot[they] will not return
2:18
أَوْكَصَيِّبٍۢمِّنَٱلسَّمَآءِفِيهِظُلُمَـٰتٌۭوَرَعْدٌۭوَبَرْقٌۭيَجْعَلُونَأَصَـٰبِعَهُمْفِىٓءَاذَانِهِممِّنَٱلصَّوَٰعِقِحَذَرَٱلْمَوْتِ ۚوَٱللَّهُمُحِيطٌۢبِٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
bil-kāfirīnamuḥīṭunwal-lahul-mawtiḥadharal-ṣawāʿiqiminaādhānihimfīaṣābiʿahumyajʿalūnawabarqunwaraʿdunẓulumātunfīhil-samāiminakaṣayyibinaw
Orlike a rainstormfromthe skyin it (are)darkness[es]and thunderand lightningThey puttheir fingersintheir earsfromthe thunderclaps(in) fear (of)[the] deathAnd Allah(is) [the One Who] encompassesthe disbelievers
2:19
يَكَادُٱلْبَرْقُيَخْطَفُأَبْصَـٰرَهُمْ ۖكُلَّمَآأَضَآءَلَهُممَّشَوْا۟فِيهِوَإِذَآأَظْلَمَعَلَيْهِمْقَامُوا۟ ۚوَلَوْشَآءَٱللَّهُلَذَهَبَبِسَمْعِهِمْوَأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَعَلَىٰكُلِّشَىْءٍۢقَدِيرٌۭ
qadīrunshayinkulliʿalāl-lahainnawa-abṣārihimbisamʿihimladhahabal-lahushāawalawqāmūʿalayhimaẓlamawa-idhāfīhimashawlahumaḍāakullamāabṣārahumyakhṭaful-barquyakādu
Almostthe lightningsnatches awaytheir sightWheneverit flashesfor themthey walkin itand whenit darkenson themthey stand (still)And ifhad willedAllahHe would certainly have taken awaytheir hearingand their sightIndeedAllah(is) oneverythingAll-Powerful
2:20
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلنَّاسُٱعْبُدُوا۟رَبَّكُمُٱلَّذِىخَلَقَكُمْوَٱلَّذِينَمِنقَبْلِكُمْلَعَلَّكُمْتَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūnalaʿallakumqablikumminwa-alladhīnakhalaqakumalladhīrabbakumuuʿ'budūl-nāsuyāayyuhā
Omankindworshipyour Lordthe One Whocreated youand thosefrombefore youso that you maybecome righteous
2:21
ٱلَّذِىجَعَلَلَكُمُٱلْأَرْضَفِرَٰشًۭاوَٱلسَّمَآءَبِنَآءًۭوَأَنزَلَمِنَٱلسَّمَآءِمَآءًۭفَأَخْرَجَبِهِۦمِنَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِرِزْقًۭالَّكُمْ ۖفَلَاتَجْعَلُوا۟لِلَّهِأَندَادًۭاوَأَنتُمْتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnawa-antumandādanlillahitajʿalūfalālakumriz'qanl-thamarātiminabihifa-akhrajamāanl-samāiminawa-anzalabināanwal-samāafirāshanl-arḍalakumujaʿalaalladhī
The One Whomadefor youthe eartha resting placeand the skya canopyand sent downfromthe skywaterthen brought forththerewith[of]the fruits(as) provisionfor youSo (do) notset upto Allahrivalswhile you[you] know
2:22
وَإِنكُنتُمْفِىرَيْبٍۢمِّمَّانَزَّلْنَاعَلَىٰعَبْدِنَافَأْتُوا۟بِسُورَةٍۢمِّنمِّثْلِهِۦوَٱدْعُوا۟شُهَدَآءَكُممِّندُونِٱللَّهِإِنكُنتُمْصَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnakuntuminl-lahidūniminshuhadāakumwa-id'ʿūmith'lihiminbisūratinfatūʿabdināʿalānazzalnāmimmāraybinfīkuntumwa-in
And ifyou areindoubtabout whatWe have revealedtoOur slavethen producea chapter[of]like itand callyour witnessesfromother thanAllahifyou aretruthful
2:23
فَإِنلَّمْتَفْعَلُوا۟وَلَنتَفْعَلُوا۟فَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱلنَّارَٱلَّتِىوَقُودُهَاٱلنَّاسُوَٱلْحِجَارَةُ ۖأُعِدَّتْلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
lil'kāfirīnauʿiddatwal-ḥijāratul-nāsuwaqūduhāallatīl-nārafa-ittaqūtafʿalūwalantafʿalūlamfa-in
But ifnotyou doand neverwill you dothen fearthe Firewhose[its] fuel(is) [the] menand [the] stonespreparedfor the disbelievers
2:24
وَبَشِّرِٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟وَعَمِلُوا۟ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِأَنَّلَهُمْجَنَّـٰتٍۢتَجْرِىمِنتَحْتِهَاٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖكُلَّمَارُزِقُوا۟مِنْهَامِنثَمَرَةٍۢرِّزْقًۭا ۙقَالُوا۟هَـٰذَاٱلَّذِىرُزِقْنَامِنقَبْلُ ۖوَأُتُوا۟بِهِۦمُتَشَـٰبِهًۭا ۖوَلَهُمْفِيهَآأَزْوَٰجٌۭمُّطَهَّرَةٌۭ ۖوَهُمْفِيهَاخَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnafīhāwahummuṭahharatunazwājunfīhāwalahummutashābihanbihiwa-utūqabluminruziq'nāalladhīhādhāqālūriz'qanthamaratinminmin'hāruziqūkullamāl-anhārutaḥtihāmintajrījannātinlahumannal-ṣāliḥātiwaʿamilūāmanūalladhīnawabashiri
And give good news(to) those whobelieveand do[the] righteous deedsthatfor them(will be) Gardensflow[from]under themthe riversEvery timethey are providedtherefromoffruit(as) provisionthey (will) sayThis (is)the one whichwe were providedfrombeforeAnd they will be giventherefrom(things) in resemblanceAnd for themthereinspousespurifiedand theytherein(will) abide forever
2:25
۞ إِنَّٱللَّهَلَايَسْتَحْىِۦٓأَنيَضْرِبَمَثَلًۭامَّابَعُوضَةًۭفَمَافَوْقَهَا ۚفَأَمَّاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟فَيَعْلَمُونَأَنَّهُٱلْحَقُّمِنرَّبِّهِمْ ۖوَأَمَّاٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟فَيَقُولُونَمَاذَآأَرَادَٱللَّهُبِهَـٰذَامَثَلًۭا ۘيُضِلُّبِهِۦكَثِيرًۭاوَيَهْدِىبِهِۦكَثِيرًۭا ۚوَمَايُضِلُّبِهِۦٓإِلَّاٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
l-fāsiqīnaillābihiyuḍilluwamākathīranbihiwayahdīkathīranbihiyuḍillumathalanbihādhāl-lahuarādamādhāfayaqūlūnakafarūalladhīnawa-ammārabbihimminl-ḥaquannahufayaʿlamūnaāmanūalladhīnafa-ammāfawqahāfamābaʿūḍatanmāmathalanyaḍribaanyastaḥyīlāl-lahainna
IndeedAllah(is) notashamedtoset forthan example(like) even(of) a mosquitoand (even) somethingabove itThen as forthose whobelieved[thus] they will knowthat it(is) the truthfromtheir LordAnd as forthose whodisbelieved[thus] they will saywhat(did) intendAllahby thisexampleHe lets go astrayby itmanyand He guidesby itmanyAnd notHe lets go astrayby itexceptthe defiantly disobedient
2:26
ٱلَّذِينَيَنقُضُونَعَهْدَٱللَّهِمِنۢبَعْدِمِيثَـٰقِهِۦوَيَقْطَعُونَمَآأَمَرَٱللَّهُبِهِۦٓأَنيُوصَلَوَيُفْسِدُونَفِىٱلْأَرْضِ ۚأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَهُمُٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
l-khāsirūnahumuulāikal-arḍifīwayuf'sidūnayūṣalaanbihil-lahuamaramāwayaqṭaʿūnamīthāqihibaʿdiminl-lahiʿahdayanquḍūnaalladhīna
Those whobreak(the) Covenant(of) Allahfromafterits ratificationand [they] cutwhathas orderedAllahittobe joinedand [they] spread corruptioninthe earthThosethey(are) the losers
2:27
كَيْفَتَكْفُرُونَبِٱللَّهِوَكُنتُمْأَمْوَٰتًۭافَأَحْيَـٰكُمْ ۖثُمَّيُمِيتُكُمْثُمَّيُحْيِيكُمْثُمَّإِلَيْهِتُرْجَعُونَ
tur'jaʿūnailayhithummayuḥ'yīkumthummayumītukumthummafa-aḥyākumamwātanwakuntumbil-lahitakfurūnakayfa
How(can) you disbelievein AllahWhile you weredeadthen He gave you lifethenHe will cause you to diethenHe will give you lifethento Himyou will be returned
2:28
هُوَٱلَّذِىخَلَقَلَكُممَّافِىٱلْأَرْضِجَمِيعًۭاثُمَّٱسْتَوَىٰٓإِلَىٱلسَّمَآءِفَسَوَّىٰهُنَّسَبْعَسَمَـٰوَٰتٍۢ ۚوَهُوَبِكُلِّشَىْءٍعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunshayinbikulliwahuwasamāwātinsabʿafasawwāhunnal-samāiilāis'tawāthummajamīʿanl-arḍifīmālakumkhalaqaalladhīhuwa
He(is) the One Whocreatedfor youwhat(is) inthe earthallMoreoverHe turnedtothe heavenand fashioned themsevenheavensAnd Heof everything(is) All-Knowing
2:29
وَإِذْقَالَرَبُّكَلِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِإِنِّىجَاعِلٌۭفِىٱلْأَرْضِخَلِيفَةًۭ ۖقَالُوٓا۟أَتَجْعَلُفِيهَامَنيُفْسِدُفِيهَاوَيَسْفِكُٱلدِّمَآءَوَنَحْنُنُسَبِّحُبِحَمْدِكَوَنُقَدِّسُلَكَ ۖقَالَإِنِّىٓأَعْلَمُمَالَاتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnalāmāaʿlamuinnīqālalakawanuqaddisubiḥamdikanusabbiḥuwanaḥnul-dimāawayasfikufīhāyuf'sidumanfīhāatajʿaluqālūkhalīfatanl-arḍifījāʿiluninnīlil'malāikatirabbukaqālawa-idh
And whensaidyour Lordto the angelsIndeed, I (am)going to placeinthe eartha vicegerentthey saidWill You placein it(one) whowill spread corruptionin itand will shed[the] blood[s]while we[we] glorify (You)with Your praisesand we sanctify[to] YouHe saidIndeed, I[I] knowwhatnotyou know
2:30
وَعَلَّمَءَادَمَٱلْأَسْمَآءَكُلَّهَاثُمَّعَرَضَهُمْعَلَىٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِفَقَالَأَنۢبِـُٔونِىبِأَسْمَآءِهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِإِنكُنتُمْصَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnakuntuminhāulāibi-asmāianbiūnīfaqālal-malāikatiʿalāʿaraḍahumthummakullahāl-asmāaādamawaʿallama
And He taughtAdamthe names all of themThenHe displayed themtothe angelsthen He saidInform Meof (the) names(of) theseifyou aretruthful
2:31
قَالُوا۟سُبْحَـٰنَكَلَاعِلْمَلَنَآإِلَّامَاعَلَّمْتَنَآ ۖإِنَّكَأَنتَٱلْعَلِيمُٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmul-ʿalīmuantainnakaʿallamtanāmāillālanāʿil'malāsub'ḥānakaqālū
They saidGlory be to YouNoknowledge(is) for usexceptwhatYou have taught usIndeed YouYou(are) the All-Knowingthe All-Wise
2:32
قَالَيَـٰٓـَٔادَمُأَنۢبِئْهُمبِأَسْمَآئِهِمْ ۖفَلَمَّآأَنۢبَأَهُمبِأَسْمَآئِهِمْقَالَأَلَمْأَقُللَّكُمْإِنِّىٓأَعْلَمُغَيْبَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِوَأَعْلَمُمَاتُبْدُونَوَمَاكُنتُمْتَكْتُمُونَ
taktumūnakuntumwamātub'dūnamāwa-aʿlamuwal-arḍil-samāwātighaybaaʿlamuinnīlakumaqulalamqālabi-asmāihimanba-ahumfalammābi-asmāihimanbi'humyāādamuqāla
He saidO AdamInform themof their namesAnd whenhe had informed themof their namesHe saidDid notI sayto youIndeed, I[I] know(the) unseen(of) the heavensand the earthand I knowwhatyou revealand whatyou [were]conceal
2:33
وَإِذْقُلْنَالِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِٱسْجُدُوا۟لِـَٔادَمَفَسَجَدُوٓا۟إِلَّآإِبْلِيسَأَبَىٰوَٱسْتَكْبَرَوَكَانَمِنَٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīnaminawakānawa-is'takbaraabāib'līsaillāfasajadūliādamaus'judūlil'malāikatiqul'nāwa-idh
And whenWe saidto the angelsProstrateto Adam[so] they prostratedexceptIblisHe refusedand was arrogantand becameofthe disbelievers
2:34
وَقُلْنَايَـٰٓـَٔادَمُٱسْكُنْأَنتَوَزَوْجُكَٱلْجَنَّةَوَكُلَامِنْهَارَغَدًاحَيْثُشِئْتُمَاوَلَاتَقْرَبَاهَـٰذِهِٱلشَّجَرَةَفَتَكُونَامِنَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnaminafatakūnāl-shajaratahādhihitaqrabāwalāshi'tumāḥaythuraghadanmin'hāwakulāl-janatawazawjukaantaus'kunyāādamuwaqul'nā
And We saidO AdamDwellyouand your spouse(in) Paradiseand [you both] eatfrom itfreely(from) whereveryou [both] wishBut do not[you two] approachthis[the] treelest you [both] beofthe wrongdoers
2:35
فَأَزَلَّهُمَاٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُعَنْهَافَأَخْرَجَهُمَامِمَّاكَانَافِيهِ ۖوَقُلْنَاٱهْبِطُوا۟بَعْضُكُمْلِبَعْضٍعَدُوٌّۭ ۖوَلَكُمْفِىٱلْأَرْضِمُسْتَقَرٌّۭوَمَتَـٰعٌإِلَىٰحِينٍۢ
ḥīninilāwamatāʿunmus'taqarrunl-arḍifīwalakumʿaduwwunlibaʿḍinbaʿḍukumih'biṭūwaqul'nāfīhikānāmimmāfa-akhrajahumāʿanhāl-shayṭānufa-azallahumā
Then made [both of] them slipthe Shaitaanfrom itand he got [both of] them outfrom whatthey [both] werein [it]And We saidGo down (all of you)some of youto others(as) enemyand for youinthe earth(is) a dwelling placeand a provisionfora period
2:36
فَتَلَقَّىٰٓءَادَمُمِنرَّبِّهِۦكَلِمَـٰتٍۢفَتَابَعَلَيْهِ ۚإِنَّهُۥهُوَٱلتَّوَّابُٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmul-tawābuhuwainnahuʿalayhifatābakalimātinrabbihiminādamufatalaqqā
Then receivedAdamfromhis LordwordsSo (his Lord) turnedtowards himIndeed HeHe(is) the Oft-returning (to mercy)the Most Merciful
2:37
قُلْنَاٱهْبِطُوا۟مِنْهَاجَمِيعًۭا ۖفَإِمَّايَأْتِيَنَّكُممِّنِّىهُدًۭىفَمَنتَبِعَهُدَاىَفَلَاخَوْفٌعَلَيْهِمْوَلَاهُمْيَحْزَنُونَ
yaḥzanūnahumwalāʿalayhimkhawfunfalāhudāyatabiʿafamanhudanminnīyatiyannakumfa-immājamīʿanmin'hāih'biṭūqul'nā
We saidGo downfrom itall (of you)and whencomes to youfrom MeGuidancethen whoeverfollowsMy Guidance[then] nofear(will be) on themand nottheywill grieve
2:38
وَٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟وَكَذَّبُوا۟بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَأَصْحَـٰبُٱلنَّارِ ۖهُمْفِيهَاخَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnafīhāhuml-nāriaṣḥābuulāikabiāyātināwakadhabūkafarūwa-alladhīna
And thosewho disbelieve[d]and denyOur Signsthose(are the) companions(of) the Firetheyin it(will) abide forever
2:39
يَـٰبَنِىٓإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَٱذْكُرُوا۟نِعْمَتِىَٱلَّتِىٓأَنْعَمْتُعَلَيْكُمْوَأَوْفُوا۟بِعَهْدِىٓأُوفِبِعَهْدِكُمْوَإِيَّـٰىَفَٱرْهَبُونِ
fa-ir'habūniwa-iyyāyabiʿahdikumūfibiʿahdīwa-awfūʿalaykumanʿamtuallatīniʿ'matiyaudh'kurūis'rāīlayābanī
O Children(of) IsraelRememberMy FavorwhichI bestowedupon youand fulfillMy CovenantI will fulfillyour covenantand Me Alonefear [Me]
2:40
وَءَامِنُوا۟بِمَآأَنزَلْتُمُصَدِّقًۭالِّمَامَعَكُمْوَلَاتَكُونُوٓا۟أَوَّلَكَافِرٍۭبِهِۦ ۖوَلَاتَشْتَرُوا۟بِـَٔايَـٰتِىثَمَنًۭاقَلِيلًۭاوَإِيَّـٰىَفَٱتَّقُونِ
fa-ittaqūniwa-iyyāyaqalīlanthamananbiāyātītashtarūwalābihikāfirinawwalatakūnūwalāmaʿakumlimāmuṣaddiqananzaltubimāwaāminū
And believein whatI have sent downconfirmingthat which(is) with youand (do) notbe(the) firstdisbelieverof itAnd (do) notexchangeMy Signs (for)a pricesmalland Me Alonefear [Me]
2:41
وَلَاتَلْبِسُوا۟ٱلْحَقَّبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِوَتَكْتُمُوا۟ٱلْحَقَّوَأَنتُمْتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnawa-antuml-ḥaqawataktumūbil-bāṭilil-ḥaqatalbisūwalā
And (do) notmixthe Truthwith [the] falsehoodand concealthe Truthwhile you[you] know
2:42
وَأَقِيمُوا۟ٱلصَّلَوٰةَوَءَاتُوا۟ٱلزَّكَوٰةَوَٱرْكَعُوا۟مَعَٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ
l-rākiʿīnamaʿawa-ir'kaʿūl-zakatawaātūl-ṣalatawa-aqīmū
And establishthe prayerand givezakahand bow downwiththose who bow down
2:43
۞ أَتَأْمُرُونَٱلنَّاسَبِٱلْبِرِّوَتَنسَوْنَأَنفُسَكُمْوَأَنتُمْتَتْلُونَٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ۚأَفَلَاتَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnaafalāl-kitābatatlūnawa-antumanfusakumwatansawnabil-biril-nāsaatamurūna
Do you order[the] people[the] righteousnessand you forgetyourselveswhile you[you] recitethe BookThen, will notyou use reason
2:44
وَٱسْتَعِينُوا۟بِٱلصَّبْرِوَٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ۚوَإِنَّهَالَكَبِيرَةٌإِلَّاعَلَىٱلْخَـٰشِعِينَ
l-khāshiʿīnaʿalāillālakabīratunwa-innahāwal-ṣalatibil-ṣabriwa-is'taʿīnū
And seek helpthrough patienceand the prayerand indeed, it(is) surely difficultexceptonthe humble ones
2:45
ٱلَّذِينَيَظُنُّونَأَنَّهُممُّلَـٰقُوا۟رَبِّهِمْوَأَنَّهُمْإِلَيْهِرَٰجِعُونَ
rājiʿūnailayhiwa-annahumrabbihimmulāqūannahumyaẓunnūnaalladhīna
Those whobelievethat theywill meettheir Lordand that theyto Himwill return
2:46
يَـٰبَنِىٓإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَٱذْكُرُوا۟نِعْمَتِىَٱلَّتِىٓأَنْعَمْتُعَلَيْكُمْوَأَنِّىفَضَّلْتُكُمْعَلَىٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīnaʿalāfaḍḍaltukumwa-annīʿalaykumanʿamtuallatīniʿ'matiyaudh'kurūis'rāīlayābanī
O Children(of) IsraelRememberMy FavorwhichI bestowedupon youand that I[I] preferred youoverthe worlds
2:47
وَٱتَّقُوا۟يَوْمًۭالَّاتَجْزِىنَفْسٌعَننَّفْسٍۢشَيْـًۭٔاوَلَايُقْبَلُمِنْهَاشَفَـٰعَةٌۭوَلَايُؤْخَذُمِنْهَاعَدْلٌۭوَلَاهُمْيُنصَرُونَ
yunṣarūnahumwalāʿadlunmin'hāyu'khadhuwalāshafāʿatunmin'hāyuq'baluwalāshayannafsinʿannafsuntajzīlāyawmanwa-ittaqū
And feara day(will) notavailany soulfor(another) soulanythingand notwill be acceptedfrom itany intercessionand notwill be takenfrom ita compensationand nottheywill be helped
2:48
وَإِذْنَجَّيْنَـٰكُممِّنْءَالِفِرْعَوْنَيَسُومُونَكُمْسُوٓءَٱلْعَذَابِيُذَبِّحُونَأَبْنَآءَكُمْوَيَسْتَحْيُونَنِسَآءَكُمْ ۚوَفِىذَٰلِكُمبَلَآءٌۭمِّنرَّبِّكُمْعَظِيمٌۭ
ʿaẓīmunrabbikumminbalāondhālikumwafīnisāakumwayastaḥyūnaabnāakumyudhabbiḥūnal-ʿadhābisūayasūmūnakumfir'ʿawnaāliminnajjaynākumwa-idh
And whenWe saved youfrom(the) people(of) Firaun(who were) afflicting you (with)horribletormentslaughteringyour sonsand letting liveyour womenAnd inthat(was) a trialfromyour Lordgreat
2:49
وَإِذْفَرَقْنَابِكُمُٱلْبَحْرَفَأَنجَيْنَـٰكُمْوَأَغْرَقْنَآءَالَفِرْعَوْنَوَأَنتُمْتَنظُرُونَ
tanẓurūnawa-antumfir'ʿawnaālawa-aghraqnāfa-anjaynākuml-baḥrabikumufaraqnāwa-idh
And whenWe partedfor youthe seathen We saved youand We drowned(the) people(of) Firaunwhile you(were) looking
2:50
وَإِذْوَٰعَدْنَامُوسَىٰٓأَرْبَعِينَلَيْلَةًۭثُمَّٱتَّخَذْتُمُٱلْعِجْلَمِنۢبَعْدِهِۦوَأَنتُمْظَـٰلِمُونَ
ẓālimūnawa-antumbaʿdihiminl-ʿij'laittakhadhtumuthummalaylatanarbaʿīnamūsāwāʿadnāwa-idh
And whenWe appointed(for) MusafortynightsThenyou tookthe calffromafter himand you(were) wrongdoers
2:51
ثُمَّعَفَوْنَاعَنكُممِّنۢبَعْدِذَٰلِكَلَعَلَّكُمْتَشْكُرُونَ
tashkurūnalaʿallakumdhālikabaʿdiminʿankumʿafawnāthumma
ThenWe forgaveyoufromafterthatso that you may(be) grateful
2:52
وَإِذْءَاتَيْنَامُوسَىٱلْكِتَـٰبَوَٱلْفُرْقَانَلَعَلَّكُمْتَهْتَدُونَ
tahtadūnalaʿallakumwal-fur'qānal-kitābamūsāātaynāwa-idh
And whenWe gaveMusathe Bookand the Criterionperhaps you(would be) guided
2:53
وَإِذْقَالَمُوسَىٰلِقَوْمِهِۦيَـٰقَوْمِإِنَّكُمْظَلَمْتُمْأَنفُسَكُمبِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُٱلْعِجْلَفَتُوبُوٓا۟إِلَىٰبَارِئِكُمْفَٱقْتُلُوٓا۟أَنفُسَكُمْذَٰلِكُمْخَيْرٌۭلَّكُمْعِندَبَارِئِكُمْفَتَابَعَلَيْكُمْ ۚإِنَّهُۥهُوَٱلتَّوَّابُٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmul-tawābuhuwainnahuʿalaykumfatābabāri-ikumʿindalakumkhayrundhālikumanfusakumfa-uq'tulūbāri-ikumilāfatūbūl-ʿij'labi-ittikhādhikumuanfusakumẓalamtuminnakumyāqawmiliqawmihimūsāqālawa-idh
And whensaidMusato his peopleO my peopleIndeed, you[you] have wrongedyourselvesby your takingthe calfSo turn in repentancetoyour Creatorand killyourselvesThat(is) betterfor youwithyour CreatorThen He turnedtowards youIndeed HeHe(is) the-returningthe Most Merciful
2:54
وَإِذْقُلْتُمْيَـٰمُوسَىٰلَننُّؤْمِنَلَكَحَتَّىٰنَرَىٱللَّهَجَهْرَةًۭفَأَخَذَتْكُمُٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُوَأَنتُمْتَنظُرُونَ
tanẓurūnawa-antuml-ṣāʿiqatufa-akhadhatkumujahratanl-lahanarāḥattālakanu'minalanyāmūsāqul'tumwa-idh
And whenyou saidO MusaNever(will) we believein youuntilwe seeAllahmanifestlySo seized youthe thunderboltwhile you(were) looking
2:55
ثُمَّبَعَثْنَـٰكُممِّنۢبَعْدِمَوْتِكُمْلَعَلَّكُمْتَشْكُرُونَ
tashkurūnalaʿallakummawtikumbaʿdiminbaʿathnākumthumma
ThenWe revived youfromafteryour deathso that you may(be) grateful
2:56
وَظَلَّلْنَاعَلَيْكُمُٱلْغَمَامَوَأَنزَلْنَاعَلَيْكُمُٱلْمَنَّوَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ ۖكُلُوا۟مِنطَيِّبَـٰتِمَارَزَقْنَـٰكُمْ ۖوَمَاظَلَمُونَاوَلَـٰكِنكَانُوٓا۟أَنفُسَهُمْيَظْلِمُونَ
yaẓlimūnaanfusahumkānūwalākinẓalamūnāwamārazaqnākummāṭayyibātiminkulūwal-salwāl-manaʿalaykumuwa-anzalnāl-ghamāmaʿalaykumuwaẓallalnā
And We shaded[over] you(with) [the] cloudsand We sent downto you[the] mannaand [the] quailsEatfrom(the) good thingsthatWe have provided youAnd notthey wronged Usbutthey were(to) themselvesdoing wrong
2:57
وَإِذْقُلْنَاٱدْخُلُوا۟هَـٰذِهِٱلْقَرْيَةَفَكُلُوا۟مِنْهَاحَيْثُشِئْتُمْرَغَدًۭاوَٱدْخُلُوا۟ٱلْبَابَسُجَّدًۭاوَقُولُوا۟حِطَّةٌۭنَّغْفِرْلَكُمْخَطَـٰيَـٰكُمْ ۚوَسَنَزِيدُٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
l-muḥ'sinīnawasanazīdukhaṭāyākumlakumnaghfirḥiṭṭatunwaqūlūsujjadanl-bābawa-ud'khulūraghadanshi'tumḥaythumin'hāfakulūl-qaryatahādhihiud'khulūqul'nāwa-idh
And whenWe saidEnterthistownthen eatfromwhereveryou wish[ed]abundantlyand enterthe gateprostratingAnd sayRepentanceWe will forgivefor youyour sinsAnd We will increasethe good-doers (in reward)
2:58
فَبَدَّلَٱلَّذِينَظَلَمُوا۟قَوْلًاغَيْرَٱلَّذِىقِيلَلَهُمْفَأَنزَلْنَاعَلَىٱلَّذِينَظَلَمُوا۟رِجْزًۭامِّنَٱلسَّمَآءِبِمَاكَانُوا۟يَفْسُقُونَ
yafsuqūnakānūbimāl-samāiminarij'zanẓalamūalladhīnaʿalāfa-anzalnālahumqīlaalladhīghayraqawlanẓalamūalladhīnafabaddala
But changedthose whowronged(the) wordother (than)(that) whichwas saidto themso We sent downuponthose whowrongeda punishmentfromthe skybecausethey weredefiantly disobeying
2:59
۞ وَإِذِٱسْتَسْقَىٰمُوسَىٰلِقَوْمِهِۦفَقُلْنَاٱضْرِببِّعَصَاكَٱلْحَجَرَ ۖفَٱنفَجَرَتْمِنْهُٱثْنَتَاعَشْرَةَعَيْنًۭا ۖقَدْعَلِمَكُلُّأُنَاسٍۢمَّشْرَبَهُمْ ۖكُلُوا۟وَٱشْرَبُوا۟مِنرِّزْقِٱللَّهِوَلَاتَعْثَوْا۟فِىٱلْأَرْضِمُفْسِدِينَ
muf'sidīnal-arḍifītaʿthawwalāl-lahiriz'qiminwa-ish'rabūkulūmashrabahumunāsinkulluʿalimaqadʿaynanʿashrataith'natāmin'hufa-infajaratl-ḥajarabiʿaṣākaiḍ'ribfaqul'nāliqawmihimūsāis'tasqāwa-idhi
And whenasked (for) waterMusafor his people[so] We saidStrikewith your staffthe stoneThen gushed forthfrom it(of)twelvespringsIndeedknewall(the) peopletheir drinking placeEatand drinkfrom(the) provision (of)Allahand (do) notact wickedlyinthe earthspreading corruption
2:60
وَإِذْقُلْتُمْيَـٰمُوسَىٰلَننَّصْبِرَعَلَىٰطَعَامٍۢوَٰحِدٍۢفَٱدْعُلَنَارَبَّكَيُخْرِجْلَنَامِمَّاتُنۢبِتُٱلْأَرْضُمِنۢبَقْلِهَاوَقِثَّآئِهَاوَفُومِهَاوَعَدَسِهَاوَبَصَلِهَا ۖقَالَأَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَٱلَّذِىهُوَأَدْنَىٰبِٱلَّذِىهُوَخَيْرٌ ۚٱهْبِطُوا۟مِصْرًۭافَإِنَّلَكُممَّاسَأَلْتُمْ ۗوَضُرِبَتْعَلَيْهِمُٱلذِّلَّةُوَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُوَبَآءُوبِغَضَبٍۢمِّنَٱللَّهِ ۗذَٰلِكَبِأَنَّهُمْكَانُوا۟يَكْفُرُونَبِـَٔايَـٰتِٱللَّهِوَيَقْتُلُونَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَبِغَيْرِٱلْحَقِّ ۗذَٰلِكَبِمَاعَصَوا۟وَّكَانُوا۟يَعْتَدُونَ
yaʿtadūnawakānūʿaṣawbimādhālikal-ḥaqibighayril-nabiyīnawayaqtulūnal-lahibiāyātiyakfurūnakānūbi-annahumdhālikal-lahiminabighaḍabinwabāūwal-maskanatul-dhilatuʿalayhimuwaḍuribatsa-altummālakumfa-innamiṣ'ranih'biṭūkhayrunhuwabi-alladhīadnāhuwaalladhīatastabdilūnaqālawabaṣalihāwaʿadasihāwafūmihāwaqithāihābaqlihāminl-arḍutunbitumimmālanāyukh'rijrabbakalanāfa-ud'ʿuwāḥidinṭaʿāminʿalānaṣbiralanyāmūsāqul'tumwa-idh
And whenyou saidO MusaNever (will)we endure[on]food(of) one (kind)so prayfor us(to) your Lordto bring forthfor usout of whatgrowsthe earthofits herbs[and] its cucumbers[and] its garlic[and] its lentilsand its onionsHe saidWould you exchangethat which[it](is) inferiorfor that which[it](is) betterGo down(to) a cityso indeedfor you(is) whatyou have asked (for)And were struckon themthe humiliationand the miseryand they drew on themselveswrathofAllahThat (was)because theyused todisbelievein (the) Signs(of) Allahand killthe Prophetswithout (any)[the] rightThat(was) becausethey disobeyedand they weretransgressing
2:61
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟وَٱلَّذِينَهَادُوا۟وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰوَٱلصَّـٰبِـِٔينَمَنْءَامَنَبِٱللَّهِوَٱلْيَوْمِٱلْـَٔاخِرِوَعَمِلَصَـٰلِحًۭافَلَهُمْأَجْرُهُمْعِندَرَبِّهِمْوَلَاخَوْفٌعَلَيْهِمْوَلَاهُمْيَحْزَنُونَ
yaḥzanūnahumwalāʿalayhimkhawfunwalārabbihimʿindaajruhumfalahumṣāliḥanwaʿamilal-ākhiriwal-yawmibil-lahiāmanamanwal-ṣābiīnawal-naṣārāhādūwa-alladhīnaāmanūalladhīnainna
Indeedthose whobelievedand those whobecame Jewsand the Christiansand the Sabians whobelievedin Allahand the Day[the] Lastand didrighteous deedsso for themtheir reward(is) withtheir Lordand nofearon themand nottheywill grieve
2:62
وَإِذْأَخَذْنَامِيثَـٰقَكُمْوَرَفَعْنَافَوْقَكُمُٱلطُّورَخُذُوا۟مَآءَاتَيْنَـٰكُمبِقُوَّةٍۢوَٱذْكُرُوا۟مَافِيهِلَعَلَّكُمْتَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūnalaʿallakumfīhimāwa-udh'kurūbiquwwatinātaynākummākhudhūl-ṭūrafawqakumuwarafaʿnāmīthāqakumakhadhnāwa-idh
And whenWe tookyour covenantand We raisedover youthe mountHoldwhatWe have given youwith strengthand rememberwhat(is) in itperhaps you(would become) righteous
2:63
ثُمَّتَوَلَّيْتُممِّنۢبَعْدِذَٰلِكَ ۖفَلَوْلَافَضْلُٱللَّهِعَلَيْكُمْوَرَحْمَتُهُۥلَكُنتُممِّنَٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ
l-khāsirīnaminalakuntumwaraḥmatuhuʿalaykuml-lahifaḍlufalawlādhālikabaʿdimintawallaytumthumma
Thenyou turned awayfromafterthatSo if not(for the) Grace(of) Allahupon youand His Mercysurely you would have beenofthe losers
2:64
وَلَقَدْعَلِمْتُمُٱلَّذِينَٱعْتَدَوْا۟مِنكُمْفِىٱلسَّبْتِفَقُلْنَالَهُمْكُونُوا۟قِرَدَةًخَـٰسِـِٔينَ
khāsiīnaqiradatankūnūlahumfaqul'nāl-sabtifīminkumiʿ'tadawalladhīnaʿalim'tumuwalaqad
And indeedyou knewthose whotransgressedamong youinthe (matter of) SabbathSo We saidto themBeapesdespised
2:65
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهَانَكَـٰلًۭالِّمَابَيْنَيَدَيْهَاوَمَاخَلْفَهَاوَمَوْعِظَةًۭلِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
lil'muttaqīnawamawʿiẓatankhalfahāwamāyadayhābaynalimānakālanfajaʿalnāhā
So We made ita deterrent punishmentfor those(in) front(of) themand thoseafter themand an admonitionfor those who fear (Allah)
2:66
وَإِذْقَالَمُوسَىٰلِقَوْمِهِۦٓإِنَّٱللَّهَيَأْمُرُكُمْأَنتَذْبَحُوا۟بَقَرَةًۭ ۖقَالُوٓا۟أَتَتَّخِذُنَاهُزُوًۭا ۖقَالَأَعُوذُبِٱللَّهِأَنْأَكُونَمِنَٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ
l-jāhilīnaminaakūnaanbil-lahiaʿūdhuqālahuzuwanatattakhidhunāqālūbaqaratantadhbaḥūanyamurukuml-lahainnaliqawmihimūsāqālawa-idh
And whensaidMusato his peopleIndeedAllahcommands youthatyou slaughtera cowThey saidDo you take us(in) ridiculeHe saidI seek refugein AllahthatI beamongthe ignorant
2:67
قَالُوا۟ٱدْعُلَنَارَبَّكَيُبَيِّنلَّنَامَاهِىَ ۚقَالَإِنَّهُۥيَقُولُإِنَّهَابَقَرَةٌۭلَّافَارِضٌۭوَلَابِكْرٌعَوَانٌۢبَيْنَذَٰلِكَ ۖفَٱفْعَلُوا۟مَاتُؤْمَرُونَ
tu'marūnamāfa-if'ʿalūdhālikabaynaʿawānunbik'runwalāfāriḍunlābaqaratuninnahāyaqūluinnahuqālahiyamālanāyubayyinrabbakalanāud'ʿuqālū
They saidPrayfor us(to) your Lordto make clearto uswhatit (is)He saidIndeed, Hesays[Indeed] it(is) a cownotoldand notyoungmiddle agedbetweenthatso dowhatyou are commanded
2:68
قَالُوا۟ٱدْعُلَنَارَبَّكَيُبَيِّنلَّنَامَالَوْنُهَا ۚقَالَإِنَّهُۥيَقُولُإِنَّهَابَقَرَةٌۭصَفْرَآءُفَاقِعٌۭلَّوْنُهَاتَسُرُّٱلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
l-nāẓirīnatasurrulawnuhāfāqiʿunṣafrāubaqaratuninnahāyaqūluinnahuqālalawnuhāmālanāyubayyinrabbakalanāud'ʿuqālū
They saidPrayfor us(to) your Lordto make clearto uswhat(is) its colorHe saidIndeed, Hesays'[Indeed] it isa cowyellowbright(in) its colorpleasing(to) those who see (it).'
2:69
قَالُوا۟ٱدْعُلَنَارَبَّكَيُبَيِّنلَّنَامَاهِىَإِنَّٱلْبَقَرَتَشَـٰبَهَعَلَيْنَاوَإِنَّآإِنشَآءَٱللَّهُلَمُهْتَدُونَ
lamuh'tadūnal-lahushāainwa-innāʿalaynātashābahal-baqarainnahiyamālanāyubayyinrabbakalanāud'ʿuqālū
They saidPrayfor us(to) your Lordto make clearto uswhatit (is)Indeed[the] cowslook aliketo usAnd indeed weifwillsAllah(will) surely be those who are guided
2:70
قَالَإِنَّهُۥيَقُولُإِنَّهَابَقَرَةٌۭلَّاذَلُولٌۭتُثِيرُٱلْأَرْضَوَلَاتَسْقِىٱلْحَرْثَمُسَلَّمَةٌۭلَّاشِيَةَفِيهَا ۚقَالُوا۟ٱلْـَٔـٰنَجِئْتَبِٱلْحَقِّ ۚفَذَبَحُوهَاوَمَاكَادُوا۟يَفْعَلُونَ
yafʿalūnakādūwamāfadhabaḥūhābil-ḥaqiji'tal-ānaqālūfīhāshiyatalāmusallamatunl-ḥarthatasqīwalāl-arḍatuthīrudhalūlunlābaqaratuninnahāyaqūluinnahuqāla
He saidIndeed, Hesays[Indeed] it(is) a cownottrainedto ploughthe earthand notwaterthe fieldsoundnoblemishin itThey saidNowyou have comewith the truthSo they slaughtered itand notthey were near(to) doing (it)
2:71
وَإِذْقَتَلْتُمْنَفْسًۭافَٱدَّٰرَْٰٔتُمْفِيهَا ۖوَٱللَّهُمُخْرِجٌۭمَّاكُنتُمْتَكْتُمُونَ
taktumūnakuntummāmukh'rijunwal-lahufīhāfa-iddāratumnafsanqataltumwa-idh
And whenyou killeda manthen you disputedconcerning itbut Allah(is) the One Who brought forthwhatyou wereconcealing
2:72
فَقُلْنَاٱضْرِبُوهُبِبَعْضِهَا ۚكَذَٰلِكَيُحْىِٱللَّهُٱلْمَوْتَىٰوَيُرِيكُمْءَايَـٰتِهِۦلَعَلَّكُمْتَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnalaʿallakumāyātihiwayurīkuml-mawtāl-lahuyuḥ'yīkadhālikabibaʿḍihāiḍ'ribūhufaqul'nā
So We saidStrike himwith a part of itLike thisrevivesAllahthe deadand shows youHis Signsperhaps you mayuse your intellect
2:73
ثُمَّقَسَتْقُلُوبُكُممِّنۢبَعْدِذَٰلِكَفَهِىَكَٱلْحِجَارَةِأَوْأَشَدُّقَسْوَةًۭ ۚوَإِنَّمِنَٱلْحِجَارَةِلَمَايَتَفَجَّرُمِنْهُٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚوَإِنَّمِنْهَالَمَايَشَّقَّقُفَيَخْرُجُمِنْهُٱلْمَآءُ ۚوَإِنَّمِنْهَالَمَايَهْبِطُمِنْخَشْيَةِٱللَّهِ ۗوَمَاٱللَّهُبِغَـٰفِلٍعَمَّاتَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūnaʿammābighāfilinl-lahuwamāl-lahikhashyatiminyahbiṭulamāmin'hāwa-innal-māumin'hufayakhrujuyashaqqaqulamāmin'hāwa-innal-anhārumin'huyatafajjarulamāl-ḥijāratiminawa-innaqaswatanashadduawkal-ḥijāratifahiyadhālikabaʿdiminqulūbukumqasatthumma
Thenhardenedyour heartsfromafterthatso they(became) like [the] stonesorstronger(in) hardnessAnd indeedfromthe stonescertainly (there are some) whichgush forthfrom it[the] riversand indeedfrom themcertainly (there are some) whichsplitso comes outfrom it[the] waterand indeedfrom themcertainly (there are some) whichfall downfromfear(of) AllahAnd not(is) Allahunawareof whatyou do
2:74
۞ أَفَتَطْمَعُونَأَنيُؤْمِنُوا۟لَكُمْوَقَدْكَانَفَرِيقٌۭمِّنْهُمْيَسْمَعُونَكَلَـٰمَٱللَّهِثُمَّيُحَرِّفُونَهُۥمِنۢبَعْدِمَاعَقَلُوهُوَهُمْيَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnawahumʿaqalūhumābaʿdiminyuḥarrifūnahuthummal-lahikalāmayasmaʿūnamin'humfarīqunkānawaqadlakumyu'minūanafataṭmaʿūna
Do you hopethatthey will believe[for] youwhile indeed(there) has beena partyof them(who used to) hear(the) words(of) Allahthenthey distort itfromafter[what]they understood itwhile theyknow
2:75
وَإِذَالَقُوا۟ٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟قَالُوٓا۟ءَامَنَّاوَإِذَاخَلَابَعْضُهُمْإِلَىٰبَعْضٍۢقَالُوٓا۟أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُمبِمَافَتَحَٱللَّهُعَلَيْكُمْلِيُحَآجُّوكُمبِهِۦعِندَرَبِّكُمْ ۚأَفَلَاتَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnaafalārabbikumʿindabihiliyuḥājjūkumʿalaykuml-lahufataḥabimāatuḥaddithūnahumqālūbaʿḍinilābaʿḍuhumkhalāwa-idhāāmannāqālūāmanūalladhīnalaqūwa-idhā
And whenthey meetthose whobelieve[d]they sayWe have believedBut whenmeet in privatesome of themwithsome (others)they sayDo you tell themwhathasAllahto youso that they argue with youtherewithbeforeyour LordThen do (you) notunderstand
2:76
أَوَلَايَعْلَمُونَأَنَّٱللَّهَيَعْلَمُمَايُسِرُّونَوَمَايُعْلِنُونَ
yuʿ'linūnawamāyusirrūnamāyaʿlamul-lahaannayaʿlamūnaawalā
Do notthey knowthatAllahknowswhatthey concealand whatthey declare
2:77
وَمِنْهُمْأُمِّيُّونَلَايَعْلَمُونَٱلْكِتَـٰبَإِلَّآأَمَانِىَّوَإِنْهُمْإِلَّايَظُنُّونَ
yaẓunnūnaillāhumwa-inamāniyyaillāl-kitābayaʿlamūnalāummiyyūnawamin'hum
And among them(are) unlettered ones(who) do notknowthe bookexceptwishful thinkingand notthey(do anything) exceptguess
2:78
فَوَيْلٌۭلِّلَّذِينَيَكْتُبُونَٱلْكِتَـٰبَبِأَيْدِيهِمْثُمَّيَقُولُونَهَـٰذَامِنْعِندِٱللَّهِلِيَشْتَرُوا۟بِهِۦثَمَنًۭاقَلِيلًۭا ۖفَوَيْلٌۭلَّهُممِّمَّاكَتَبَتْأَيْدِيهِمْوَوَيْلٌۭلَّهُممِّمَّايَكْسِبُونَ
yaksibūnamimmālahumwawaylunaydīhimkatabatmimmālahumfawaylunqalīlanthamananbihiliyashtarūl-lahiʿindiminhādhāyaqūlūnathummabi-aydīhiml-kitābayaktubūnalilladhīnafawaylun
So woeto those whowritethe bookwith their (own) handsthenthey sayThis(is)fromAllahto barterwith it(for) a pricelittleSo woeto themfor whathave writtentheir handsand woeto themfor whatthey earn
2:79
وَقَالُوا۟لَنتَمَسَّنَاٱلنَّارُإِلَّآأَيَّامًۭامَّعْدُودَةًۭ ۚقُلْأَتَّخَذْتُمْعِندَٱللَّهِعَهْدًۭافَلَنيُخْلِفَٱللَّهُعَهْدَهُۥٓ ۖأَمْتَقُولُونَعَلَىٱللَّهِمَالَاتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnalāmāl-lahiʿalātaqūlūnaamʿahdahul-lahuyukh'lifafalanʿahdanl-lahiʿindaattakhadhtumqulmaʿdūdatanayyāmanillāl-nārutamassanālanwaqālū
And they sayNeverwill touch usthe Fireexcept(for) daysnumberedSayHave you takenfromAllaha covenantso neverwill breakAllahHis CovenantOr(do) you sayagainstAllahwhatnotyou know
2:80
بَلَىٰمَنكَسَبَسَيِّئَةًۭوَأَحَـٰطَتْبِهِۦخَطِيٓـَٔتُهُۥفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَأَصْحَـٰبُٱلنَّارِ ۖهُمْفِيهَاخَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnafīhāhuml-nāriaṣḥābufa-ulāikakhaṭīatuhubihiwa-aḥāṭatsayyi-atankasabamanbalā
Yeswhoeverearnedeviland surrounded himwithhis sins [so] those(are the) companions(of) the Firetheyin it(will) abide forever
2:81
وَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟وَعَمِلُوا۟ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَأَصْحَـٰبُٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖهُمْفِيهَاخَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnafīhāhuml-janatiaṣḥābuulāikal-ṣāliḥātiwaʿamilūāmanūwa-alladhīna
And those whobelievedand didrighteous deedsthose(are the) companions(of) Paradisetheyin it(will) abide forever
2:82
وَإِذْأَخَذْنَامِيثَـٰقَبَنِىٓإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَلَاتَعْبُدُونَإِلَّاٱللَّهَوَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِإِحْسَانًۭاوَذِىٱلْقُرْبَىٰوَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰوَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِوَقُولُوا۟لِلنَّاسِحُسْنًۭاوَأَقِيمُوا۟ٱلصَّلَوٰةَوَءَاتُوا۟ٱلزَّكَوٰةَثُمَّتَوَلَّيْتُمْإِلَّاقَلِيلًۭامِّنكُمْوَأَنتُممُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūnawa-antumminkumqalīlanillātawallaytumthummal-zakatawaātūl-ṣalatawa-aqīmūḥus'nanlilnnāsiwaqūlūwal-masākīniwal-yatāmāl-qur'bāwadhīiḥ'sānanwabil-wālidaynil-lahaillātaʿbudūnalāis'rāīlabanīmīthāqaakhadhnāwa-idh
And whenWe took(the) covenant(from the) Children(of) IsraelNotyou will worshipexceptAllahand with [the] parents(be) goodand (with)relativesand [the] orphansand the needyand speakto [the] peoplegoodand establishthe prayerand givethe zakahThenyou turned awayexcepta fewof youand you (were)refusing
2:83
وَإِذْأَخَذْنَامِيثَـٰقَكُمْلَاتَسْفِكُونَدِمَآءَكُمْوَلَاتُخْرِجُونَأَنفُسَكُممِّندِيَـٰرِكُمْثُمَّأَقْرَرْتُمْوَأَنتُمْتَشْهَدُونَ
tashhadūnawa-antumaqrartumthummadiyārikumminanfusakumtukh'rijūnawalādimāakumtasfikūnalāmīthāqakumakhadhnāwa-idh
And whenWe tookyour covenantNotwill you shedyour bloodand not(will) evictyourselvesfromyour homesthenyou ratifiedwhile you(were) witnessing
2:84
ثُمَّأَنتُمْهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِتَقْتُلُونَأَنفُسَكُمْوَتُخْرِجُونَفَرِيقًۭامِّنكُممِّندِيَـٰرِهِمْتَظَـٰهَرُونَعَلَيْهِمبِٱلْإِثْمِوَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِوَإِنيَأْتُوكُمْأُسَـٰرَىٰتُفَـٰدُوهُمْوَهُوَمُحَرَّمٌعَلَيْكُمْإِخْرَاجُهُمْ ۚأَفَتُؤْمِنُونَبِبَعْضِٱلْكِتَـٰبِوَتَكْفُرُونَبِبَعْضٍۢ ۚفَمَاجَزَآءُمَنيَفْعَلُذَٰلِكَمِنكُمْإِلَّاخِزْىٌۭفِىٱلْحَيَوٰةِٱلدُّنْيَا ۖوَيَوْمَٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِيُرَدُّونَإِلَىٰٓأَشَدِّٱلْعَذَابِ ۗوَمَاٱللَّهُبِغَـٰفِلٍعَمَّاتَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūnaʿammābighāfilinl-lahuwamāl-ʿadhābiashaddiilāyuraddūnal-qiyāmatiwayawmal-dun'yāl-ḥayatifīkhiz'yunillāminkumdhālikayafʿalumanjazāufamābibaʿḍinwatakfurūnal-kitābibibaʿḍiafatu'minūnaikh'rājuhumʿalaykummuḥarramunwahuwatufādūhumusārāyatūkumwa-inwal-ʿud'wānibil-ith'miʿalayhimtaẓāharūnadiyārihimminminkumfarīqanwatukh'rijūnaanfusakumtaqtulūnahāulāiantumthumma
Thenyou(are) those(who) killyourselvesand evicta partyof youfromtheir homesyou support one anotheragainst themin sinand [the] transgressionAnd ifthey come to you(as) captivesyou ransom themwhile it(was) forbiddento youtheir evictionSo do you believein part (of)the Bookand disbelievein partThen what(should be the) recompense(for the one) whodoesthatamong youexceptdisgraceinthe life(of) the worldand (on the) Dayof [the] Resurrectionthey will be sent backto(the) most severepunishmentAnd not(is) Allahunawareof whatyou do
2:85
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَٱلَّذِينَٱشْتَرَوُا۟ٱلْحَيَوٰةَٱلدُّنْيَابِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖفَلَايُخَفَّفُعَنْهُمُٱلْعَذَابُوَلَاهُمْيُنصَرُونَ
yunṣarūnahumwalāl-ʿadhābuʿanhumuyukhaffafufalābil-ākhiratil-dun'yāl-ḥayataish'tarawūalladhīnaulāika
Those(are) the ones whoboughtthe life(of) the worldfor the Hereafterso notwill be lightenedfor themthe punishmentand nottheywill be helped
2:86
وَلَقَدْءَاتَيْنَامُوسَىٱلْكِتَـٰبَوَقَفَّيْنَامِنۢبَعْدِهِۦبِٱلرُّسُلِ ۖوَءَاتَيْنَاعِيسَىٱبْنَمَرْيَمَٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِوَأَيَّدْنَـٰهُبِرُوحِٱلْقُدُسِ ۗأَفَكُلَّمَاجَآءَكُمْرَسُولٌۢبِمَالَاتَهْوَىٰٓأَنفُسُكُمُٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْفَفَرِيقًۭاكَذَّبْتُمْوَفَرِيقًۭاتَقْتُلُونَ
taqtulūnawafarīqankadhabtumfafarīqanis'takbartumanfusukumutahwālābimārasūlunjāakumafakullamāl-qudusibirūḥiwa-ayyadnāhul-bayinātimaryamaib'naʿīsāwaātaynābil-rusulibaʿdihiminwaqaffaynāl-kitābamūsāātaynāwalaqad
And indeedWe gaveMusathe Bookand We followed upfromafter himwith [the] MessengersAnd We gaveIsa(the) son(of) Maryam[the] clear signsand We supported him(with)the Holy SpiritIs it (not) so (that) whenevercame to youa Messengerwith what(does) notdesireyourselvesyou acted arrogantlySo a partyyou deniedand a partyyou kill(ed)
2:87
وَقَالُوا۟قُلُوبُنَاغُلْفٌۢ ۚبَللَّعَنَهُمُٱللَّهُبِكُفْرِهِمْفَقَلِيلًۭامَّايُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnamāfaqalīlanbikuf'rihiml-lahulaʿanahumubalghul'funqulūbunāwaqālū
And they saidOur hearts(are) wrappedNayhas cursed themAllahfor their disbeliefso little(is) whatthey believe
2:88
وَلَمَّاجَآءَهُمْكِتَـٰبٌۭمِّنْعِندِٱللَّهِمُصَدِّقٌۭلِّمَامَعَهُمْوَكَانُوا۟مِنقَبْلُيَسْتَفْتِحُونَعَلَىٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟فَلَمَّاجَآءَهُممَّاعَرَفُوا۟كَفَرُوا۟بِهِۦ ۚفَلَعْنَةُٱللَّهِعَلَىٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīnaʿalāl-lahifalaʿnatubihikafarūʿarafūmājāahumfalammākafarūalladhīnaʿalāyastaftiḥūnaqabluminwakānūmaʿahumlimāmuṣaddiqunl-lahiʿindiminkitābunjāahumwalammā
And whencame to thema BookoffromAllahconfirmingwhat (was)with themthough they used tofrombefore(that), pray for victoryoverthose whodisbelieved then whencame to themwhatthey recognizedthey disbelievedin itSo (the) curse(of) Allah(is) onthe disbelievers
2:89
بِئْسَمَاٱشْتَرَوْا۟بِهِۦٓأَنفُسَهُمْأَنيَكْفُرُوا۟بِمَآأَنزَلَٱللَّهُبَغْيًاأَنيُنَزِّلَٱللَّهُمِنفَضْلِهِۦعَلَىٰمَنيَشَآءُمِنْعِبَادِهِۦ ۖفَبَآءُوبِغَضَبٍعَلَىٰغَضَبٍۢ ۚوَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَعَذَابٌۭمُّهِينٌۭ
muhīnunʿadhābunwalil'kāfirīnaghaḍabinʿalābighaḍabinfabāūʿibādihiminyashāumanʿalāfaḍlihiminl-lahuyunazzilaanbaghyanl-lahuanzalabimāyakfurūananfusahumbihiish'tarawbi'samā
Evil (is) that(for) which they have soldwiththemselvesthatthey disbelievein whathas revealedAllahgrudgingthatsends downAllahofHis GraceonwhomHe willsfromHis servantsSo they have drawn (on themselves)wrathuponwrathAnd for the disbelievers(is) a punishmenthumiliating
2:90
وَإِذَاقِيلَلَهُمْءَامِنُوا۟بِمَآأَنزَلَٱللَّهُقَالُوا۟نُؤْمِنُبِمَآأُنزِلَعَلَيْنَاوَيَكْفُرُونَبِمَاوَرَآءَهُۥوَهُوَٱلْحَقُّمُصَدِّقًۭالِّمَامَعَهُمْ ۗقُلْفَلِمَتَقْتُلُونَأَنۢبِيَآءَٱللَّهِمِنقَبْلُإِنكُنتُممُّؤْمِنِينَ
mu'minīnakuntuminqabluminl-lahianbiyāataqtulūnafalimaqulmaʿahumlimāmuṣaddiqanl-ḥaquwahuwawarāahubimāwayakfurūnaʿalaynāunzilabimānu'minuqālūl-lahuanzalabimāāminūlahumqīlawa-idhā
And whenit is saidto themBelievein whathas revealedAllahthey sayWe believein whatwas revealedto usAnd they disbelievein what(is) besides itwhile it(is) the truthconfirmingwhat(is) with themSayThen why(did) you kill(the) Prophets(of) Allahfrombeforeifyou werebelievers
2:91
۞ وَلَقَدْجَآءَكُممُّوسَىٰبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِثُمَّٱتَّخَذْتُمُٱلْعِجْلَمِنۢبَعْدِهِۦوَأَنتُمْظَـٰلِمُونَ
ẓālimūnawa-antumbaʿdihiminl-ʿij'laittakhadhtumuthummabil-bayinātimūsājāakumwalaqad
And indeedcame to youMusawith [the] clear signsthenyou tookthe calffromafter himand you(were) wrongdoers
2:92
وَإِذْأَخَذْنَامِيثَـٰقَكُمْوَرَفَعْنَافَوْقَكُمُٱلطُّورَخُذُوا۟مَآءَاتَيْنَـٰكُمبِقُوَّةٍۢوَٱسْمَعُوا۟ ۖقَالُوا۟سَمِعْنَاوَعَصَيْنَاوَأُشْرِبُوا۟فِىقُلُوبِهِمُٱلْعِجْلَبِكُفْرِهِمْ ۚقُلْبِئْسَمَايَأْمُرُكُمبِهِۦٓإِيمَـٰنُكُمْإِنكُنتُممُّؤْمِنِينَ
mu'minīnakuntuminīmānukumbihiyamurukumbi'samāqulbikuf'rihiml-ʿij'laqulūbihimufīwa-ush'ribūwaʿaṣaynāsamiʿ'nāqālūwa-is'maʿūbiquwwatinātaynākummākhudhūl-ṭūrafawqakumuwarafaʿnāmīthāqakumakhadhnāwa-idh
And whenWe tookyour covenantand We raisedover youthe mountHoldwhatWe gave youwith firmnessand listenThey saidWe heardand we disobeyedAnd they were made to drinkintheir hearts(love of) the calfbecause of their disbeliefSayEvil (is) thatorders you (to do) itwithyour faithifyou arebelievers
2:93
قُلْإِنكَانَتْلَكُمُٱلدَّارُٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُعِندَٱللَّهِخَالِصَةًۭمِّندُونِٱلنَّاسِفَتَمَنَّوُا۟ٱلْمَوْتَإِنكُنتُمْصَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnakuntuminl-mawtafatamannawūl-nāsidūniminkhāliṣatanl-lahiʿindal-ākhiratul-dārulakumukānatinqul
SayIf isfor youthe home(of) the HereafterwithAllahexclusivelyfromexcludingthe mankindthen wish(for) [the] deathifyou aretruthful
2:94
وَلَنيَتَمَنَّوْهُأَبَدًۢابِمَاقَدَّمَتْأَيْدِيهِمْ ۗوَٱللَّهُعَلِيمٌۢبِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
bil-ẓālimīnaʿalīmunwal-lahuaydīhimqaddamatbimāabadanyatamannawhuwalan
And never (will)they wish for iteverbecause(of what) sent aheadtheir handsAnd Allah(is) All-Knowerof the wrongdoers
2:95
وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْأَحْرَصَٱلنَّاسِعَلَىٰحَيَوٰةٍۢوَمِنَٱلَّذِينَأَشْرَكُوا۟ ۚيَوَدُّأَحَدُهُمْلَوْيُعَمَّرُأَلْفَسَنَةٍۢوَمَاهُوَبِمُزَحْزِحِهِۦمِنَٱلْعَذَابِأَنيُعَمَّرَ ۗوَٱللَّهُبَصِيرٌۢبِمَايَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnabimābaṣīrunwal-lahuyuʿammaraanl-ʿadhābiminabimuzaḥziḥihihuwawamāsanatinalfayuʿammarulawaḥaduhumyawadduashrakūalladhīnawaminaḥayatinʿalāl-nāsiaḥraṣawalatajidannahum
And surely you will find them(the) most greedy(of) [the] mankindforlifeand (greedier) thanthose whoassociate[d] partners (with Allah)Loves(each) one of themifhe could be granted a life(of) a thousandyear(s)But notit(will) remove himfromthe punishmentthathe should be granted lifeAnd Allah(is) All-Seerof whatthey do
2:96
قُلْمَنكَانَعَدُوًّۭالِّجِبْرِيلَفَإِنَّهُۥنَزَّلَهُۥعَلَىٰقَلْبِكَبِإِذْنِٱللَّهِمُصَدِّقًۭالِّمَابَيْنَيَدَيْهِوَهُدًۭىوَبُشْرَىٰلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
lil'mu'minīnawabush'rāwahudanyadayhibaynalimāmuṣaddiqanl-lahibi-idh'niqalbikaʿalānazzalahufa-innahulijib'rīlaʿaduwwankānamanqul
SayWhoeverisan enemyto Jibreel then indeed hebrought it downonyour heartby (the) permission(of) Allahconfirmingwhat(was)before itand a guidanceand glad tiding(s)for the believers
2:97
مَنكَانَعَدُوًّۭالِّلَّهِوَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتِهِۦوَرُسُلِهِۦوَجِبْرِيلَوَمِيكَىٰلَفَإِنَّٱللَّهَعَدُوٌّۭلِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
lil'kāfirīnaʿaduwwunl-lahafa-innawamīkālawajib'rīlawarusulihiwamalāikatihilillahiʿaduwwankānaman
Whoeverisan enemy(to) Allahand His Angelsand His Messengersand Jibreeland Meekaelthen indeedAllah(is) an enemyto the disbelievers
2:98
وَلَقَدْأَنزَلْنَآإِلَيْكَءَايَـٰتٍۭبَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ ۖوَمَايَكْفُرُبِهَآإِلَّاٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
l-fāsiqūnaillābihāyakfuruwamābayyinātināyātinilaykaanzalnāwalaqad
And indeedWe revealedto youVersesclearand notdisbelievesin themexceptthe defiantly disobedient
2:99
أَوَكُلَّمَاعَـٰهَدُوا۟عَهْدًۭانَّبَذَهُۥفَرِيقٌۭمِّنْهُم ۚبَلْأَكْثَرُهُمْلَايُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūnalāaktharuhumbalmin'humfarīqunnabadhahuʿahdanʿāhadūawakullamā
And is (it not that) wheneverthey tooka covenantthrew it awaya partyof themNaymost of them(do) notbelieve
2:100
وَلَمَّاجَآءَهُمْرَسُولٌۭمِّنْعِندِٱللَّهِمُصَدِّقٌۭلِّمَامَعَهُمْنَبَذَفَرِيقٌۭمِّنَٱلَّذِينَأُوتُوا۟ٱلْكِتَـٰبَكِتَـٰبَٱللَّهِوَرَآءَظُهُورِهِمْكَأَنَّهُمْلَايَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnalāka-annahumẓuhūrihimwarāal-lahikitābal-kitābaūtūalladhīnaminafarīqunnabadhamaʿahumlimāmuṣaddiqunl-lahiʿindiminrasūlunjāahumwalammā
And whencame to thema Messenger(of)fromAllahconfirmingwhat(was) with themthrew awaya partyofthose whowere giventhe Book(the) Book(of) Allahbehindtheir backsas if they(do) notknow
2:101
وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟مَاتَتْلُوا۟ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُعَلَىٰمُلْكِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۖوَمَاكَفَرَسُلَيْمَـٰنُوَلَـٰكِنَّٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَكَفَرُوا۟يُعَلِّمُونَٱلنَّاسَٱلسِّحْرَوَمَآأُنزِلَعَلَىٱلْمَلَكَيْنِبِبَابِلَهَـٰرُوتَوَمَـٰرُوتَ ۚوَمَايُعَلِّمَانِمِنْأَحَدٍحَتَّىٰيَقُولَآإِنَّمَانَحْنُفِتْنَةٌۭفَلَاتَكْفُرْ ۖفَيَتَعَلَّمُونَمِنْهُمَامَايُفَرِّقُونَبِهِۦبَيْنَٱلْمَرْءِوَزَوْجِهِۦ ۚوَمَاهُمبِضَآرِّينَبِهِۦمِنْأَحَدٍإِلَّابِإِذْنِٱللَّهِ ۚوَيَتَعَلَّمُونَمَايَضُرُّهُمْوَلَايَنفَعُهُمْ ۚوَلَقَدْعَلِمُوا۟لَمَنِٱشْتَرَىٰهُمَالَهُۥفِىٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِمِنْخَلَـٰقٍۢ ۚوَلَبِئْسَمَاشَرَوْا۟بِهِۦٓأَنفُسَهُمْ ۚلَوْكَانُوا۟يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnakānūlawanfusahumbihisharawmāwalabi'sakhalāqinminl-ākhiratifīlahumāish'tarāhulamaniʿalimūwalaqadyanfaʿuhumwalāyaḍurruhummāwayataʿallamūnal-lahibi-idh'niillāaḥadinminbihibiḍārrīnahumwamāwazawjihil-maribaynabihiyufarriqūnamāmin'humāfayataʿallamūnatakfurfalāfit'natunnaḥnuinnamāyaqūlāḥattāaḥadinminyuʿallimāniwamāwamārūtahārūtabibābilal-malakayniʿalāunzilawamāl-siḥ'ral-nāsayuʿallimūnakafarūl-shayāṭīnawalākinnasulaymānukafarawamāsulaymānamul'kiʿalāl-shayāṭīnutatlūmāwa-ittabaʿū
And they followedwhatrecite(d)the devilsover(the) kingdom(of) SulaimanAnd notdisbelievedSulaiman[and] butthe devilsdisbelievedthey teachthe people[the] magicand whatwas sent downtothe two angelsin BabylonHarutand MarutAnd notthey both teachanyoneunlessthey [both] sayOnlywe(are) a trialso (do) notdisbelieveBut they learnfrom those twowhat[they] causes separationwith itbetweenthe manand his spouseAnd notthey (could)at all [be those who] harmwith itanyoneexceptby permission(of) AllahAnd they learnwhatharms themand notprofits themAnd indeedthey knewthat whoeverbuys itnotfor himinthe HereafteranyshareAnd surely evil(is) whatthey soldwith itthemselvesifthey were(to) know
2:102
وَلَوْأَنَّهُمْءَامَنُوا۟وَٱتَّقَوْا۟لَمَثُوبَةٌۭمِّنْعِندِٱللَّهِخَيْرٌۭ ۖلَّوْكَانُوا۟يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnakānūlawkhayrunl-lahiʿindiminlamathūbatunwa-ittaqawāmanūannahumwalaw
And if[that] they(had) believedand feared (Allah)surely (the) reward(of)fromAllah(would have been) betterifthey were(to) know
2:103
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟لَاتَقُولُوا۟رَٰعِنَاوَقُولُوا۟ٱنظُرْنَاوَٱسْمَعُوا۟ ۗوَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَعَذَابٌأَلِيمٌۭ
alīmunʿadhābunwalil'kāfirīnawa-is'maʿūunẓur'nāwaqūlūrāʿinātaqūlūlāāmanūalladhīnayāayyuhā
O youwhobelieve[d](Do) notsayRainaand sayUnzurnaand listenAnd for the disbelievers(is) a punishmentpainful
2:104
مَّايَوَدُّٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟مِنْأَهْلِٱلْكِتَـٰبِوَلَاٱلْمُشْرِكِينَأَنيُنَزَّلَعَلَيْكُممِّنْخَيْرٍۢمِّنرَّبِّكُمْ ۗوَٱللَّهُيَخْتَصُّبِرَحْمَتِهِۦمَنيَشَآءُ ۚوَٱللَّهُذُوٱلْفَضْلِٱلْعَظِيمِ
l-ʿaẓīmil-faḍlidhūwal-lahuyashāumanbiraḥmatihiyakhtaṣṣuwal-lahurabbikumminkhayrinminʿalaykumyunazzalaanl-mush'rikīnawalāl-kitābiahliminkafarūalladhīnayawaddumā
(Do) notlikethose whodisbelievefrom(the) People(of) the Bookand notthose who associate partners (with Allah)that(there should) be sent downto youanygoodfromyour LordAnd Allahchoosesfor His MercywhomHe willsAnd Allah(is the) Possessor(of) [the] Bounty[the] Great
2:105
۞ مَانَنسَخْمِنْءَايَةٍأَوْنُنسِهَانَأْتِبِخَيْرٍۢمِّنْهَآأَوْمِثْلِهَآ ۗأَلَمْتَعْلَمْأَنَّٱللَّهَعَلَىٰكُلِّشَىْءٍۢقَدِيرٌ
qadīrunshayinkulliʿalāl-lahaannataʿlamalammith'lihāawmin'hābikhayrinnatinunsihāawāyatinminnansakhmā
WhatWe abrogate(of)a signor[We] cause it to be forgottenWe bringbetterthan itorsimilar (to) itDo notyou knowthatAllahovereverything(is) All-Powerful
2:106
أَلَمْتَعْلَمْأَنَّٱللَّهَلَهُۥمُلْكُٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗوَمَالَكُممِّندُونِٱللَّهِمِنوَلِىٍّۢوَلَانَصِيرٍ
naṣīrinwalāwaliyyinminl-lahidūniminlakumwamāwal-arḍil-samāwātimul'kulahul-lahaannataʿlamalam
Do notyou knowthatAllahfor Him(is the) Kingdom(of) the heavensand the earthAnd not(is) for youfrombesidesAllahanyprotectorand notany helper
2:107
أَمْتُرِيدُونَأَنتَسْـَٔلُوا۟رَسُولَكُمْكَمَاسُئِلَمُوسَىٰمِنقَبْلُ ۗوَمَنيَتَبَدَّلِٱلْكُفْرَبِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِفَقَدْضَلَّسَوَآءَٱلسَّبِيلِ
l-sabīlisawāaḍallafaqadbil-īmānil-kuf'rayatabaddaliwamanqabluminmūsāsu-ilakamārasūlakumtasalūanturīdūnaam
Or(do) you wishthatyou askyour Messengeraswas askedMusafrombeforeAnd whoeverexchanges[the] disbeliefwith [the] faithso certainlyhe went astray (from)(the) evenness(of) the way
2:108
وَدَّكَثِيرٌۭمِّنْأَهْلِٱلْكِتَـٰبِلَوْيَرُدُّونَكُممِّنۢبَعْدِإِيمَـٰنِكُمْكُفَّارًاحَسَدًۭامِّنْعِندِأَنفُسِهِممِّنۢبَعْدِمَاتَبَيَّنَلَهُمُٱلْحَقُّ ۖفَٱعْفُوا۟وَٱصْفَحُوا۟حَتَّىٰيَأْتِىَٱللَّهُبِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗإِنَّٱللَّهَعَلَىٰكُلِّشَىْءٍۢقَدِيرٌۭ
qadīrunshayinkulliʿalāl-lahainnabi-amrihil-lahuyatiyaḥattāwa-iṣ'faḥūfa-iʿ'fūl-ḥaqulahumutabayyanamābaʿdiminanfusihimʿindiminḥasadankuffāranīmānikumbaʿdiminyaruddūnakumlawl-kitābiahliminkathīrunwadda
Wish[ed]manyfrom(the) People(of) the Bookifthey could turn you backfromafteryour (having) faith(to) disbelievers(out of) jealousyfrom(of)themselves(even) fromafter[what]became clearto themthe truthSo forgiveand overlookuntilbringsAllahHis CommandIndeedAllahoneverything(is) All-Powerful
2:109
وَأَقِيمُوا۟ٱلصَّلَوٰةَوَءَاتُوا۟ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚوَمَاتُقَدِّمُوا۟لِأَنفُسِكُممِّنْخَيْرٍۢتَجِدُوهُعِندَٱللَّهِ ۗإِنَّٱللَّهَبِمَاتَعْمَلُونَبَصِيرٌۭ
baṣīruntaʿmalūnabimāl-lahainnal-lahiʿindatajidūhukhayrinminli-anfusikumtuqaddimūwamāl-zakatawaātūl-ṣalatawa-aqīmū
And establishthe prayerand give[the] zakahAnd whateveryou send forthfor yourselvesofgood (deeds)you will find itwithAllahIndeedAllahof whatyou do(is) All-Seer
2:110
وَقَالُوا۟لَنيَدْخُلَٱلْجَنَّةَإِلَّامَنكَانَهُودًاأَوْنَصَـٰرَىٰ ۗتِلْكَأَمَانِيُّهُمْ ۗقُلْهَاتُوا۟بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْإِنكُنتُمْصَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīnakuntuminbur'hānakumhātūqulamāniyyuhumtil'kanaṣārāawhūdankānamanillāl-janatayadkhulalanwaqālū
And they saidNeverwill enterthe Paradiseexceptwhois(a) Jew[s]or(a) Christian[s]That(is) their wishful thinkingSayBringyour proofifyou are[those who are] truthful
2:111
بَلَىٰمَنْأَسْلَمَوَجْهَهُۥلِلَّهِوَهُوَمُحْسِنٌۭفَلَهُۥٓأَجْرُهُۥعِندَرَبِّهِۦوَلَاخَوْفٌعَلَيْهِمْوَلَاهُمْيَحْزَنُونَ
yaḥzanūnahumwalāʿalayhimkhawfunwalārabbihiʿindaajruhufalahumuḥ'sinunwahuwalillahiwajhahuaslamamanbalā
Yeswhoeversubmitshis faceto Allahand he(is) a good-doerso for him(is) his rewardwithhis LordAnd nofear(will be) on themand notthey(will) grieve
2:112
وَقَالَتِٱلْيَهُودُلَيْسَتِٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰعَلَىٰشَىْءٍۢوَقَالَتِٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰلَيْسَتِٱلْيَهُودُعَلَىٰشَىْءٍۢوَهُمْيَتْلُونَٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ۗكَذَٰلِكَقَالَٱلَّذِينَلَايَعْلَمُونَمِثْلَقَوْلِهِمْ ۚفَٱللَّهُيَحْكُمُبَيْنَهُمْيَوْمَٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِفِيمَاكَانُوا۟فِيهِيَخْتَلِفُونَ
yakhtalifūnafīhikānūfīmāl-qiyāmatiyawmabaynahumyaḥkumufal-lahuqawlihimmith'layaʿlamūnalāalladhīnaqālakadhālikal-kitābayatlūnawahumshayinʿalāl-yahūdulaysatil-naṣārāwaqālatishayinʿalāl-naṣārālaysatil-yahūduwaqālati
And saidthe JewsNotthe Christians(are) onanythingand saidthe ChristiansNotthe Jews(are) onanythingalthough theyrecitethe BookLike thatsaidthose who(do) notknowsimilartheir saying[So] Allahwill judgebetween them(on the) Day(of) Resurrectionin whatthey were[in it]differing
2:113
وَمَنْأَظْلَمُمِمَّنمَّنَعَمَسَـٰجِدَٱللَّهِأَنيُذْكَرَفِيهَاٱسْمُهُۥوَسَعَىٰفِىخَرَابِهَآ ۚأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَمَاكَانَلَهُمْأَنيَدْخُلُوهَآإِلَّاخَآئِفِينَ ۚلَهُمْفِىٱلدُّنْيَاخِزْىٌۭوَلَهُمْفِىٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِعَذَابٌعَظِيمٌۭ
ʿaẓīmunʿadhābunl-ākhiratifīwalahumkhiz'yunl-dun'yāfīlahumkhāifīnaillāyadkhulūhāanlahumkānamāulāikakharābihāfīwasaʿāus'muhufīhāyudh'karaanl-lahimasājidamanaʿamimmanaẓlamuwaman
And who(is) more unjustthan (one) whoprevents(the) masajid(of) Allahtobe mentionedin themHis nameand strivesfortheir destructionThoseNotit isfor themthatthey enter themexcept(like) those in fearFor theminthe world(is) disgraceand for theminthe Hereafter(is) a punishmentgreat
2:114
وَلِلَّهِٱلْمَشْرِقُوَٱلْمَغْرِبُ ۚفَأَيْنَمَاتُوَلُّوا۟فَثَمَّوَجْهُٱللَّهِ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَوَٰسِعٌعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunwāsiʿunl-lahainnal-lahiwajhufathammatuwallūfa-aynamāwal-maghribul-mashriquwalillahi
And for Allah(is) the eastand the westso whereveryou turn[so] there(is the) face(of) AllahIndeedAllah(is) All-EncompassingAll-Knowing
2:115
وَقَالُوا۟ٱتَّخَذَٱللَّهُوَلَدًۭا ۗسُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۖبَللَّهُۥمَافِىٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖكُلٌّۭلَّهُۥقَـٰنِتُونَ
qānitūnalahukullunwal-arḍil-samāwātifīmālahubalsub'ḥānahuwaladanl-lahuittakhadhawaqālū
And they saidhas takenAllaha sonGlory be to HimNayfor Him(is) what(is) inthe heavensand the earthAllto Him(are) humbly obedient
2:116
بَدِيعُٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖوَإِذَاقَضَىٰٓأَمْرًۭافَإِنَّمَايَقُولُلَهُۥكُنفَيَكُونُ
fayakūnukunlahuyaqūlufa-innamāamranqaḍāwa-idhāwal-arḍil-samāwātibadīʿu
(The) Originator(of) the heavensand the earthAnd whenHe decreesa matter[so] onlyHe saysto itBeand it becomes
2:117
وَقَالَٱلَّذِينَلَايَعْلَمُونَلَوْلَايُكَلِّمُنَاٱللَّهُأَوْتَأْتِينَآءَايَةٌۭ ۗكَذَٰلِكَقَالَٱلَّذِينَمِنقَبْلِهِممِّثْلَقَوْلِهِمْ ۘتَشَـٰبَهَتْقُلُوبُهُمْ ۗقَدْبَيَّنَّاٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِلِقَوْمٍۢيُوقِنُونَ
yūqinūnaliqawminl-āyātibayyannāqadqulūbuhumtashābahatqawlihimmith'laqablihimminalladhīnaqālakadhālikaāyatuntatīnāawl-lahuyukallimunālawlāyaʿlamūnalāalladhīnawaqāla
And saidthose who(do) notknowWhy notspeaks to usAllahorcomes to usa signLike thatsaidthosefrombefore themsimilartheir sayingBecame aliketheir heartsIndeedWe have made clearthe signsfor people(who) firmly believe
2:118
إِنَّآأَرْسَلْنَـٰكَبِٱلْحَقِّبَشِيرًۭاوَنَذِيرًۭا ۖوَلَاتُسْـَٔلُعَنْأَصْحَـٰبِٱلْجَحِيمِ
l-jaḥīmiaṣḥābiʿantus'aluwalāwanadhīranbashīranbil-ḥaqiarsalnākainnā
Indeed We[We] have sent youwith the truth(as) a bearer of good newsand (as) a warnerAnd notyou will be askedabout(the) companions(of) the blazing Fire
2:119
وَلَنتَرْضَىٰعَنكَٱلْيَهُودُوَلَاٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰحَتَّىٰتَتَّبِعَمِلَّتَهُمْ ۗقُلْإِنَّهُدَىٱللَّهِهُوَٱلْهُدَىٰ ۗوَلَئِنِٱتَّبَعْتَأَهْوَآءَهُمبَعْدَٱلَّذِىجَآءَكَمِنَٱلْعِلْمِ ۙمَالَكَمِنَٱللَّهِمِنوَلِىٍّۢوَلَانَصِيرٍ
naṣīrinwalāwaliyyinminl-lahiminalakamāl-ʿil'miminajāakaalladhībaʿdaahwāahumittabaʿtawala-inil-hudāhuwal-lahihudāinnaqulmillatahumtattabiʿaḥattāl-naṣārāwalāl-yahūduʿankatarḍāwalan
And neverwill be pleasedwith youthe Jewsand [not]the Christiansuntilyou followtheir religionSayIndeed(the) Guidance(of) Allahit(is) the GuidanceAnd ifyou followtheir desiresafterwhathas come to youofthe knowledgenotfor youfromAllahanyprotectorand notany helper
2:120
ٱلَّذِينَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُٱلْكِتَـٰبَيَتْلُونَهُۥحَقَّتِلَاوَتِهِۦٓأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَيُؤْمِنُونَبِهِۦ ۗوَمَنيَكْفُرْبِهِۦفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَهُمُٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
l-khāsirūnahumufa-ulāikabihiyakfurwamanbihiyu'minūnaulāikatilāwatihiḥaqqayatlūnahul-kitābaātaynāhumualladhīna
ThoseWe have given themthe Bookrecite it(as it has the) right(of) its recitationThose (people)believein itAnd whoeverdisbelievesin itthen thosethey(are) the losers
2:121
يَـٰبَنِىٓإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَٱذْكُرُوا۟نِعْمَتِىَٱلَّتِىٓأَنْعَمْتُعَلَيْكُمْوَأَنِّىفَضَّلْتُكُمْعَلَىٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīnaʿalāfaḍḍaltukumwa-annīʿalaykumanʿamtuallatīniʿ'matiyaudh'kurūis'rāīlayābanī
O Children(of) IsraelRememberMy FavorwhichI bestowedupon youand that I[I] preferred youoverthe worlds
2:122
وَٱتَّقُوا۟يَوْمًۭالَّاتَجْزِىنَفْسٌعَننَّفْسٍۢشَيْـًۭٔاوَلَايُقْبَلُمِنْهَاعَدْلٌۭوَلَاتَنفَعُهَاشَفَـٰعَةٌۭوَلَاهُمْيُنصَرُونَ
yunṣarūnahumwalāshafāʿatuntanfaʿuhāwalāʿadlunmin'hāyuq'baluwalāshayannafsinʿannafsuntajzīlāyawmanwa-ittaqū
And feara daynotwill availa soul(of)(another) soulanythingand notwill be acceptedfrom itany compensationand notwill benefit itany intercessionand nottheywill be helped
2:123
۞ وَإِذِٱبْتَلَىٰٓإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَرَبُّهُۥبِكَلِمَـٰتٍۢفَأَتَمَّهُنَّ ۖقَالَإِنِّىجَاعِلُكَلِلنَّاسِإِمَامًۭا ۖقَالَوَمِنذُرِّيَّتِى ۖقَالَلَايَنَالُعَهْدِىٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnaʿahdīyanālulāqāladhurriyyatīwaminqālaimāmanlilnnāsijāʿilukainnīqālafa-atammahunnabikalimātinrabbuhuib'rāhīmaib'talāwa-idhi
And whentriedIbrahimhis Lordwith wordsand he fulfilled themHe saidIndeed I(am) the One to make youfor the mankinda leaderHe saidAnd frommy offspringHe said(Does) notreachMy Covenant(to) the wrongdoers
2:124
وَإِذْجَعَلْنَاٱلْبَيْتَمَثَابَةًۭلِّلنَّاسِوَأَمْنًۭاوَٱتَّخِذُوا۟مِنمَّقَامِإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَمُصَلًّۭى ۖوَعَهِدْنَآإِلَىٰٓإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَوَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَأَنطَهِّرَابَيْتِىَلِلطَّآئِفِينَوَٱلْعَـٰكِفِينَوَٱلرُّكَّعِٱلسُّجُودِ
l-sujūdiwal-rukaʿiwal-ʿākifīnalilṭṭāifīnabaytiyaṭahhirāanwa-is'māʿīlaib'rāhīmailāwaʿahid'nāmuṣallanib'rāhīmamaqāmiminwa-ittakhidhūwa-amnanlilnnāsimathābatanl-baytajaʿalnāwa-idh
And whenWe madethe Housea place of returnfor mankindand (a place of) securityand (said), "Take[from](the) standing place(of) Ibrahim(as) a place of prayerAnd We made a covenantwithIbrahimand Ishmael[that][You both] purifyMy Housefor those who circumambulateand those who seclude themselves for devotion and prayerand those who bow downand those who prostrate
2:125
وَإِذْقَالَإِبْرَٰهِـۧمُرَبِّٱجْعَلْهَـٰذَابَلَدًاءَامِنًۭاوَٱرْزُقْأَهْلَهُۥمِنَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِمَنْءَامَنَمِنْهُمبِٱللَّهِوَٱلْيَوْمِٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۖقَالَوَمَنكَفَرَفَأُمَتِّعُهُۥقَلِيلًۭاثُمَّأَضْطَرُّهُۥٓإِلَىٰعَذَابِٱلنَّارِ ۖوَبِئْسَٱلْمَصِيرُ
l-maṣīruwabi'sal-nāriʿadhābiilāaḍṭarruhuthummaqalīlanfa-umattiʿuhukafarawamanqālal-ākhiriwal-yawmibil-lahimin'humāmanamanl-thamarātiminaahlahuwa-ur'zuqāminanbaladanhādhāij'ʿalrabbiib'rāhīmuqālawa-idh
And whensaidIbrahimMy Lordmakethisa citysecureand provideits peoplewithfruits(to) whoeverbelievedfrom themin Allahand the Daythe LastHe saidAnd whoeverdisbelieved[then] I will grant him enjoymenta littlethenI will force himto(the) punishment(of) the Fireand evil(is) the destination
2:126
وَإِذْيَرْفَعُإِبْرَٰهِـۧمُٱلْقَوَاعِدَمِنَٱلْبَيْتِوَإِسْمَـٰعِيلُرَبَّنَاتَقَبَّلْمِنَّآ ۖإِنَّكَأَنتَٱلسَّمِيعُٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmul-samīʿuantainnakaminnātaqabbalrabbanāwa-is'māʿīlul-baytiminal-qawāʿidaib'rāhīmuyarfaʿuwa-idh
And when(was) raisingIbrahimthe foundationsofthe Houseand Ishmael(saying), "Our LordAcceptfrom usIndeed You[You] (are)the All-Hearingthe All-Knowing
2:127
رَبَّنَاوَٱجْعَلْنَامُسْلِمَيْنِلَكَوَمِنذُرِّيَّتِنَآأُمَّةًۭمُّسْلِمَةًۭلَّكَوَأَرِنَامَنَاسِكَنَاوَتُبْعَلَيْنَآ ۖإِنَّكَأَنتَٱلتَّوَّابُٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmul-tawābuantainnakaʿalaynāwatubmanāsikanāwa-arinālakamus'limatanummatandhurriyyatināwaminlakamus'limayniwa-ij'ʿalnārabbanā
Our Lord[and] Make usboth submissiveto YouAnd fromour offspringa communitysubmissiveto YouAnd show usour ways of worshipand turnto usIndeed You[You] (are)the Oft-returningthe Most Merciful
2:128
رَبَّنَاوَٱبْعَثْفِيهِمْرَسُولًۭامِّنْهُمْيَتْلُوا۟عَلَيْهِمْءَايَـٰتِكَوَيُعَلِّمُهُمُٱلْكِتَـٰبَوَٱلْحِكْمَةَوَيُزَكِّيهِمْ ۚإِنَّكَأَنتَٱلْعَزِيزُٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmul-ʿazīzuantainnakawayuzakkīhimwal-ḥik'matal-kitābawayuʿallimuhumuāyātikaʿalayhimyatlūmin'humrasūlanfīhimwa-ib'ʿathrabbanā
Our Lord[And] raise upin thema Messengerfrom them(who) will reciteto themYour Versesand will teach themthe Bookand the wisdomand purify themIndeed YouYou (are)the All-Mightythe All-Wise
2:129
وَمَنيَرْغَبُعَنمِّلَّةِإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَإِلَّامَنسَفِهَنَفْسَهُۥ ۚوَلَقَدِٱصْطَفَيْنَـٰهُفِىٱلدُّنْيَا ۖوَإِنَّهُۥفِىٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِلَمِنَٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīnalaminal-ākhiratifīwa-innahul-dun'yāfīiṣ'ṭafaynāhuwalaqadinafsahusafihamanillāib'rāhīmamillatiʿanyarghabuwaman
And whowill turn awayfrom(the) religion(of) IbrahimexceptwhofooledhimselfAnd indeedWe chose himinthe worldand indeed heinthe Hereaftersurely (will be) amongthe righteous
2:130
إِذْقَالَلَهُۥرَبُّهُۥٓأَسْلِمْ ۖقَالَأَسْلَمْتُلِرَبِّٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīnalirabbiaslamtuqālaaslimrabbuhulahuqālaidh
Whensaidto himhis LordSubmit (yourself)he saidI (have) submitted (myself)to (the) Lord(of) the worlds
2:131
وَوَصَّىٰبِهَآإِبْرَٰهِـۧمُبَنِيهِوَيَعْقُوبُيَـٰبَنِىَّإِنَّٱللَّهَٱصْطَفَىٰلَكُمُٱلدِّينَفَلَاتَمُوتُنَّإِلَّاوَأَنتُممُّسْلِمُونَ
mus'limūnawa-antumillātamūtunnafalāl-dīnalakumuiṣ'ṭafāl-lahainnayābaniyyawayaʿqūbubanīhiib'rāhīmubihāwawaṣṣā
And enjoined[it]Ibrahim(upon) his sonsand YaqubO my sonsIndeedAllahhas chosenfor youthe religionso not(should) you dieexceptwhile you(are) submissive
2:132
أَمْكُنتُمْشُهَدَآءَإِذْحَضَرَيَعْقُوبَٱلْمَوْتُإِذْقَالَلِبَنِيهِمَاتَعْبُدُونَمِنۢبَعْدِىقَالُوا۟نَعْبُدُإِلَـٰهَكَوَإِلَـٰهَءَابَآئِكَإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَوَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَوَإِسْحَـٰقَإِلَـٰهًۭاوَٰحِدًۭاوَنَحْنُلَهُۥمُسْلِمُونَ
mus'limūnalahuwanaḥnuwāḥidanilāhanwa-is'ḥāqawa-is'māʿīlaib'rāhīmaābāikawa-ilāhailāhakanaʿbuduqālūbaʿdīmintaʿbudūnamālibanīhiqālaidhl-mawtuyaʿqūbaḥaḍaraidhshuhadāakuntumam
Orwere youwitnesseswhencame toYaqub[the] deathwhenhe saidto his sonsWhatwill you worshipfromafter meThey saidWe will worshipyour Godand (the) God(of) your forefathersIbrahimand Ishmaeland Isaac GodOneAnd weto Him(are) submissive
2:133
تِلْكَأُمَّةٌۭقَدْخَلَتْ ۖلَهَامَاكَسَبَتْوَلَكُممَّاكَسَبْتُمْ ۖوَلَاتُسْـَٔلُونَعَمَّاكَانُوا۟يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnakānūʿammātus'alūnawalākasabtummāwalakumkasabatmālahākhalatqadummatuntil'ka
This(was) a community(which)has passed awayfor itwhatit earnedand for youwhatyou have earnedAnd notyou will be askedabout whatthey used todo
2:134
وَقَالُوا۟كُونُوا۟هُودًاأَوْنَصَـٰرَىٰتَهْتَدُوا۟ ۗقُلْبَلْمِلَّةَإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَحَنِيفًۭا ۖوَمَاكَانَمِنَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīnaminakānawamāḥanīfanib'rāhīmamillatabalqultahtadūnaṣārāawhūdankūnūwaqālū
And they saidBeJewsorChristians(then) you will be guidedSayNay(the) religion(of) Ibrahim(the) uprightand nothe wasofthose who associated partners (with Allah)
2:135
قُولُوٓا۟ءَامَنَّابِٱللَّهِوَمَآأُنزِلَإِلَيْنَاوَمَآأُنزِلَإِلَىٰٓإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَوَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَوَإِسْحَـٰقَوَيَعْقُوبَوَٱلْأَسْبَاطِوَمَآأُوتِىَمُوسَىٰوَعِيسَىٰوَمَآأُوتِىَٱلنَّبِيُّونَمِنرَّبِّهِمْلَانُفَرِّقُبَيْنَأَحَدٍۢمِّنْهُمْوَنَحْنُلَهُۥمُسْلِمُونَ
mus'limūnalahuwanaḥnumin'humaḥadinbaynanufarriqulārabbihimminl-nabiyūnaūtiyawamāwaʿīsāmūsāūtiyawamāwal-asbāṭiwayaʿqūbawa-is'ḥāqawa-is'māʿīlaib'rāhīmailāunzilawamāilaynāunzilawamābil-lahiāmannāqūlū
SayWe have believedin Allahand what(is) revealedto usand whatwas revealedtoIbrahimand Ishmaeland Isaacand Yaquband the descendantsand whatwas given(to) Musaand Isaand whatwas given(to) the Prophetsfromtheir LordNotwe make distinctionbetweenanyof themAnd weto Him(are) submissive
2:136
فَإِنْءَامَنُوا۟بِمِثْلِمَآءَامَنتُمبِهِۦفَقَدِٱهْتَدَوا۟ ۖوَّإِنتَوَلَّوْا۟فَإِنَّمَاهُمْفِىشِقَاقٍۢ ۖفَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُٱللَّهُ ۚوَهُوَٱلسَّمِيعُٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmul-samīʿuwahuwal-lahufasayakfīkahumushiqāqinfīhumfa-innamātawallawwa-inih'tadawfaqadibihiāmantummābimith'liāmanūfa-in
So ifthey believe[d]in (the) like(of) whatyou have believedin [it]then indeedthey are (rightly) guidedBut ifthey turn awaythen onlythey(are) indissensionSo will suffice you against themAllahand He(is) the All-Hearingthe All-Knowing
2:137
صِبْغَةَٱللَّهِ ۖوَمَنْأَحْسَنُمِنَٱللَّهِصِبْغَةًۭ ۖوَنَحْنُلَهُۥعَـٰبِدُونَ
ʿābidūnalahuwanaḥnuṣib'ghatanl-lahiminaaḥsanuwamanl-lahiṣib'ghata
(The) color (religion)(of) AllahAnd who(is) betterthanAllahat coloringAnd weto Him(are) worshippers
2:138
قُلْأَتُحَآجُّونَنَافِىٱللَّهِوَهُوَرَبُّنَاوَرَبُّكُمْوَلَنَآأَعْمَـٰلُنَاوَلَكُمْأَعْمَـٰلُكُمْوَنَحْنُلَهُۥمُخْلِصُونَ
mukh'liṣūnalahuwanaḥnuaʿmālukumwalakumaʿmālunāwalanāwarabbukumrabbunāwahuwal-lahifīatuḥājjūnanāqul
SayDo you argue with usaboutAllahwhile He(is) our Lordand your LordAnd for us(are) our deedsand for you(are) your deedsand weto Him(are) sincere
2:139
أَمْتَقُولُونَإِنَّإِبْرَٰهِـۧمَوَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَوَإِسْحَـٰقَوَيَعْقُوبَوَٱلْأَسْبَاطَكَانُوا۟هُودًاأَوْنَصَـٰرَىٰ ۗقُلْءَأَنتُمْأَعْلَمُأَمِٱللَّهُ ۗوَمَنْأَظْلَمُمِمَّنكَتَمَشَهَـٰدَةًعِندَهُۥمِنَٱللَّهِ ۗوَمَاٱللَّهُبِغَـٰفِلٍعَمَّاتَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūnaʿammābighāfilinl-lahuwamāl-lahiminaʿindahushahādatankatamamimmanaẓlamuwamanl-lahuamiaʿlamua-antumqulnaṣārāawhūdankānūwal-asbāṭawayaʿqūbawa-is'ḥāqawa-is'māʿīlaib'rāhīmainnataqūlūnaam
Or(do) you saythatIbrahimand Ishmaeland Isaacand Yaquband the descendantswereJewsorChristiansSayAre youbetter knowingor(is) AllahAnd who(is) more unjustthan (the one) whoconcealeda testimony(that) he hasfromAllahAnd not(is) Allahunawareof whatyou do
2:140
تِلْكَأُمَّةٌۭقَدْخَلَتْ ۖلَهَامَاكَسَبَتْوَلَكُممَّاكَسَبْتُمْ ۖوَلَاتُسْـَٔلُونَعَمَّاكَانُوا۟يَعْمَلُونَ

This(was) a community(which)has passed awayfor itwhatit earnedand for youwhatyou have earnedAnd notyou will be askedabout whatthey used todo
2:141
