Basmala
۞ سَيَقُولُٱلسُّفَهَآءُمِنَٱلنَّاسِمَاوَلَّىٰهُمْعَنقِبْلَتِهِمُٱلَّتِىكَانُوا۟عَلَيْهَا ۚقُللِّلَّهِٱلْمَشْرِقُوَٱلْمَغْرِبُ ۚيَهْدِىمَنيَشَآءُإِلَىٰصِرَٰطٍۢمُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
mus'taqīminṣirāṭinilāyashāumanyahdīwal-maghribul-mashriqulillahiqulʿalayhākānūallatīqib'latihimuʿanwallāhummāl-nāsiminal-sufahāusayaqūlu
Will saythe foolish onesfromthe peopleWhat(has) turned themfromtheir direction of prayerwhichthey were used to[on it]SayFor Allah(is) the eastand the westHe guideswhomHe willstoa pathstraight
2:142
وَكَذَٰلِكَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْأُمَّةًۭوَسَطًۭالِّتَكُونُوا۟شُهَدَآءَعَلَىٱلنَّاسِوَيَكُونَٱلرَّسُولُعَلَيْكُمْشَهِيدًۭا ۗوَمَاجَعَلْنَاٱلْقِبْلَةَٱلَّتِىكُنتَعَلَيْهَآإِلَّالِنَعْلَمَمَنيَتَّبِعُٱلرَّسُولَمِمَّنيَنقَلِبُعَلَىٰعَقِبَيْهِ ۚوَإِنكَانَتْلَكَبِيرَةًإِلَّاعَلَىٱلَّذِينَهَدَىٱللَّهُ ۗوَمَاكَانَٱللَّهُلِيُضِيعَإِيمَـٰنَكُمْ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَبِٱلنَّاسِلَرَءُوفٌۭرَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunlaraūfunbil-nāsil-lahainnaīmānakumliyuḍīʿal-lahukānawamāl-lahuhadāalladhīnaʿalāillālakabīratankānatwa-inʿaqibayhiʿalāyanqalibumimmanl-rasūlayattabiʿumanlinaʿlamaillāʿalayhākuntaallatīl-qib'latajaʿalnāwamāshahīdanʿalaykuml-rasūluwayakūnal-nāsiʿalāshuhadāalitakūnūwasaṭanummatanjaʿalnākumwakadhālika
And thusWe made youa community(of the) middle wayso that you will bewitnessesoverthe mankindand will bethe Messengeron youa witnessAnd notWe madethe direction of prayerwhichyou were used to[on it]exceptthat We make evident(he) whofollowsthe Messengerfrom (he) whoturns backonhis heelsAnd indeedit wascertainly a great (test)exceptforthose whomguided(by) AllahAnd notwillAllahlet go wasteyour faithIndeedAllah(is) to [the] mankindFull of KindnessMost Merciful
2:143
قَدْنَرَىٰتَقَلُّبَوَجْهِكَفِىٱلسَّمَآءِ ۖفَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَقِبْلَةًۭتَرْضَىٰهَا ۚفَوَلِّوَجْهَكَشَطْرَٱلْمَسْجِدِٱلْحَرَامِ ۚوَحَيْثُمَاكُنتُمْفَوَلُّوا۟وُجُوهَكُمْشَطْرَهُۥ ۗوَإِنَّٱلَّذِينَأُوتُوا۟ٱلْكِتَـٰبَلَيَعْلَمُونَأَنَّهُٱلْحَقُّمِنرَّبِّهِمْ ۗوَمَاٱللَّهُبِغَـٰفِلٍعَمَّايَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūnaʿammābighāfilinl-lahuwamārabbihimminl-ḥaquannahulayaʿlamūnal-kitābaūtūalladhīnawa-innashaṭrahuwujūhakumfawallūkuntummāwaḥaythul-ḥarāmil-masjidishaṭrawajhakafawallitarḍāhāqib'latanfalanuwalliyannakal-samāifīwajhikataqallubanarāqad
IndeedWe see(the) turning(of) your facetowardsthe heavenSo We will surely turn you(to the) direction of prayeryou will be pleased withSo turnyour facetowards the direction(of) Al-MasjidAl-Haraamand whereverthatyou are[so] turnyour faces(in) its directionAnd indeedthose whowere giventhe Booksurely knowthat it(is) the truthfromtheir LordAnd not(is) Allahunawareof whatthey do
2:144
وَلَئِنْأَتَيْتَٱلَّذِينَأُوتُوا۟ٱلْكِتَـٰبَبِكُلِّءَايَةٍۢمَّاتَبِعُوا۟قِبْلَتَكَ ۚوَمَآأَنتَبِتَابِعٍۢقِبْلَتَهُمْ ۚوَمَابَعْضُهُمبِتَابِعٍۢقِبْلَةَبَعْضٍۢ ۚوَلَئِنِٱتَّبَعْتَأَهْوَآءَهُممِّنۢبَعْدِمَاجَآءَكَمِنَٱلْعِلْمِ ۙإِنَّكَإِذًۭالَّمِنَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnalaminaidhaninnakal-ʿil'miminajāakamābaʿdiminahwāahumittabaʿtawala-inibaʿḍinqib'latabitābiʿinbaʿḍuhumwamāqib'latahumbitābiʿinantawamāqib'latakatabiʿūmāāyatinbikullil-kitābaūtūalladhīnaataytawala-in
And even ifyou come(to) those whowere giventhe Bookwith all(the) signsnotthey would followyour direction of prayerand not(will) you (be)a follower(of) their direction of prayerAnd notsome of them(are) followers(of the) direction of prayer(of each) otherAnd ifyou followedtheir desiresfromafter[what]came to youofthe knowledgeindeed, you(would) then(be) surely amongthe wrongdoers
2:145
ٱلَّذِينَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُٱلْكِتَـٰبَيَعْرِفُونَهُۥكَمَايَعْرِفُونَأَبْنَآءَهُمْ ۖوَإِنَّفَرِيقًۭامِّنْهُمْلَيَكْتُمُونَٱلْحَقَّوَهُمْيَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnawahuml-ḥaqalayaktumūnamin'humfarīqanwa-innaabnāahumyaʿrifūnakamāyaʿrifūnahul-kitābaātaynāhumualladhīna
(To) those whomWe gave [them]the Bookthey recognize itlikethey recognizetheir sonsAnd indeeda groupof themsurely they concealthe Truthwhile theyknow
2:146
ٱلْحَقُّمِنرَّبِّكَ ۖفَلَاتَكُونَنَّمِنَٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
l-mum'tarīnaminatakūnannafalārabbikaminal-ḥaqu
The Truth(is) fromyour Lordso (do) notbeamongthe doubters
2:147
وَلِكُلٍّۢوِجْهَةٌهُوَمُوَلِّيهَا ۖفَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚأَيْنَمَاتَكُونُوا۟يَأْتِبِكُمُٱللَّهُجَمِيعًا ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَعَلَىٰكُلِّشَىْءٍۢقَدِيرٌۭ
qadīrunshayinkulliʿalāl-lahainnajamīʿanl-lahubikumuyatitakūnūmāaynal-khayrātifa-is'tabiqūmuwallīhāhuwawij'hatunwalikullin
And for everyone(is) a direction heturns towards itso race(to) the goodWhereverthatyou will bewill bringyou(by) AllahtogetherIndeedAllah(is) oneverythingAll-Powerful
2:148
وَمِنْحَيْثُخَرَجْتَفَوَلِّوَجْهَكَشَطْرَٱلْمَسْجِدِٱلْحَرَامِ ۖوَإِنَّهُۥلَلْحَقُّمِنرَّبِّكَ ۗوَمَاٱللَّهُبِغَـٰفِلٍعَمَّاتَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūnaʿammābighāfilinl-lahuwamārabbikaminlalḥaqquwa-innahul-ḥarāmil-masjidishaṭrawajhakafawallikharajtaḥaythuwamin
And fromwhereveryou start forth[so] turnyour face(in the) direction(of) Al-MasjidAl-HaraamAnd indeed, it(is) surely the truthfromyour LordAnd not(is) Allahunawareof whatyou do
2:149
وَمِنْحَيْثُخَرَجْتَفَوَلِّوَجْهَكَشَطْرَٱلْمَسْجِدِٱلْحَرَامِ ۚوَحَيْثُمَاكُنتُمْفَوَلُّوا۟وُجُوهَكُمْشَطْرَهُۥلِئَلَّايَكُونَلِلنَّاسِعَلَيْكُمْحُجَّةٌإِلَّاٱلَّذِينَظَلَمُوا۟مِنْهُمْفَلَاتَخْشَوْهُمْوَٱخْشَوْنِىوَلِأُتِمَّنِعْمَتِىعَلَيْكُمْوَلَعَلَّكُمْتَهْتَدُونَ
tahtadūnawalaʿallakumʿalaykumniʿ'matīwali-utimmawa-ikh'shawnītakhshawhumfalāmin'humẓalamūalladhīnaillāḥujjatunʿalaykumlilnnāsiyakūnali-allāshaṭrahuwujūhakumfawallūkuntummāwaḥaythul-ḥarāmil-masjidishaṭrawajhakafawallikharajtaḥaythuwamin
And fromwhereveryou start forth[so] turnyour face(in the) direction(of) Al-MasjidAl-HaraamAnd whereverthatyou (all) are[so] turnyour faces(in) its directionso that notwill befor the peopleagainst youany argumentexceptthose whowrongedamong themso (do) notfear thembut fear MeAnd that I completeMy favorupon you[and] so that you may(be) guided
2:150
كَمَآأَرْسَلْنَافِيكُمْرَسُولًۭامِّنكُمْيَتْلُوا۟عَلَيْكُمْءَايَـٰتِنَاوَيُزَكِّيكُمْوَيُعَلِّمُكُمُٱلْكِتَـٰبَوَٱلْحِكْمَةَوَيُعَلِّمُكُممَّالَمْتَكُونُوا۟تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnatakūnūlammāwayuʿallimukumwal-ḥik'matal-kitābawayuʿallimukumuwayuzakkīkumāyātināʿalaykumyatlūminkumrasūlanfīkumarsalnākamā
AsWe sentamong youa Messengerfrom you(who) recitesto youOur versesand purifies youand teaches youthe Bookand the wisdomand teaches youwhatnotyou wereknowing
2:151
فَٱذْكُرُونِىٓأَذْكُرْكُمْوَٱشْكُرُوا۟لِىوَلَاتَكْفُرُونِ
takfurūniwalālīwa-ush'kurūadhkur'kumfa-udh'kurūnī
So remember MeI will remember youand be gratefulto Meand (do) not(be) ungrateful to Me
2:152
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟ٱسْتَعِينُوا۟بِٱلصَّبْرِوَٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَمَعَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
l-ṣābirīnamaʿal-lahainnawal-ṣalatibil-ṣabriis'taʿīnūāmanūalladhīnayāayyuhā
O youwhobelieve[d]Seek helpthrough patienceand the prayerIndeedAllah(is) withthe patient ones
2:153
وَلَاتَقُولُوا۟لِمَنيُقْتَلُفِىسَبِيلِٱللَّهِأَمْوَٰتٌۢ ۚبَلْأَحْيَآءٌۭوَلَـٰكِنلَّاتَشْعُرُونَ
tashʿurūnalāwalākinaḥyāonbalamwātunl-lahisabīlifīyuq'talulimantaqūlūwalā
And (do) notsayfor (the ones) whoare slainin(the) way(of) Allah(They are) deadNay(they are) alive[and] butyou (do) notperceive
2:154
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمبِشَىْءٍۢمِّنَٱلْخَوْفِوَٱلْجُوعِوَنَقْصٍۢمِّنَٱلْأَمْوَٰلِوَٱلْأَنفُسِوَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ ۗوَبَشِّرِٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
l-ṣābirīnawabashiriwal-thamarātiwal-anfusil-amwāliminawanaqṣinwal-jūʿil-khawfiminabishayinwalanabluwannakum
And surely We will test youwith somethingof[the] fearand [the] hungerand lossof[the] wealthand [the] livesand [the] fruitsbut give good news(to) the patient ones
2:155
ٱلَّذِينَإِذَآأَصَـٰبَتْهُممُّصِيبَةٌۭقَالُوٓا۟إِنَّالِلَّهِوَإِنَّآإِلَيْهِرَٰجِعُونَ
rājiʿūnailayhiwa-innālillahiinnāqālūmuṣībatunaṣābathumidhāalladhīna
Those whowhenstrikes thema misfortunethey sayIndeed, webelong to Allahand indeed wetowards Himwill return
2:156
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَعَلَيْهِمْصَلَوَٰتٌۭمِّنرَّبِّهِمْوَرَحْمَةٌۭ ۖوَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَهُمُٱلْمُهْتَدُونَ
l-muh'tadūnahumuwa-ulāikawaraḥmatunrabbihimminṣalawātunʿalayhimulāika
Thoseon them(are) blessingsfromtheir Lordand MercyAnd those[they](are) the guided ones
2:157
۞ إِنَّٱلصَّفَاوَٱلْمَرْوَةَمِنشَعَآئِرِٱللَّهِ ۖفَمَنْحَجَّٱلْبَيْتَأَوِٱعْتَمَرَفَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْهِأَنيَطَّوَّفَبِهِمَا ۚوَمَنتَطَوَّعَخَيْرًۭافَإِنَّٱللَّهَشَاكِرٌعَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmunshākirunl-lahafa-innakhayrantaṭawwaʿawamanbihimāyaṭṭawwafaanʿalayhijunāḥafalāiʿ'tamaraawil-baytaḥajjafamanl-lahishaʿāiriminwal-marwatal-ṣafāinna
Indeedthe Safaand the Marwah(are) from(the) symbols(of) AllahSo whoeverperforms Hajj(of) the Houseorperforms Umrahso noblameon himthathe walksbetween [both of] themAnd whoevervoluntarily doesgoodthen indeedAllah(is) All-AppreciativeAll-Knowing
2:158
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَيَكْتُمُونَمَآأَنزَلْنَامِنَٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِوَٱلْهُدَىٰمِنۢبَعْدِمَابَيَّنَّـٰهُلِلنَّاسِفِىٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ۙأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَيَلْعَنُهُمُٱللَّهُوَيَلْعَنُهُمُٱللَّـٰعِنُونَ
l-lāʿinūnawayalʿanuhumul-lahuyalʿanuhumuulāikal-kitābifīlilnnāsibayyannāhumābaʿdiminwal-hudāl-bayinātiminaanzalnāmāyaktumūnaalladhīnainna
Indeedthose whoconcealwhatWe revealedofthe clear proofsand the Guidancefromafter[what]We made clearto the peopleinthe Book thosecurses themAllahand curse themthe ones who curse
2:159
إِلَّاٱلَّذِينَتَابُوا۟وَأَصْلَحُوا۟وَبَيَّنُوا۟فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَأَتُوبُعَلَيْهِمْ ۚوَأَنَاٱلتَّوَّابُٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmul-tawābuwa-anāʿalayhimatūbufa-ulāikawabayyanūwa-aṣlaḥūtābūalladhīnaillā
Exceptthosewho repent[ed]and reform[ed]and openly declar[ed]Then thoseI will accept repentancefrom themand I (am)the Acceptor of Repentancethe Most Merciful
2:160
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟وَمَاتُوا۟وَهُمْكُفَّارٌأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَعَلَيْهِمْلَعْنَةُٱللَّهِوَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِوَٱلنَّاسِأَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīnawal-nāsiwal-malāikatil-lahilaʿnatuʿalayhimulāikakuffārunwahumwamātūkafarūalladhīnainna
Indeedthose whodisbelieve[d]and die[d]while they(were) disbelieversthoseon them(is the) curse(of) Allahand the Angelsand the mankindall together
2:161
خَـٰلِدِينَفِيهَا ۖلَايُخَفَّفُعَنْهُمُٱلْعَذَابُوَلَاهُمْيُنظَرُونَ
yunẓarūnahumwalāl-ʿadhābuʿanhumuyukhaffafulāfīhākhālidīna
(Will) abide foreverin itNotwill be lightenedfor themthe punishmentand nottheywill be reprieved
2:162
وَإِلَـٰهُكُمْإِلَـٰهٌۭوَٰحِدٌۭ ۖلَّآإِلَـٰهَإِلَّاهُوَٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmul-raḥmānuhuwaillāilāhalāwāḥidunilāhunwa-ilāhukum
And your God(is) Godone (only)(there is) nogodexceptHimthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful
2:163
إِنَّفِىخَلْقِٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِوَٱلْأَرْضِوَٱخْتِلَـٰفِٱلَّيْلِوَٱلنَّهَارِوَٱلْفُلْكِٱلَّتِىتَجْرِىفِىٱلْبَحْرِبِمَايَنفَعُٱلنَّاسَوَمَآأَنزَلَٱللَّهُمِنَٱلسَّمَآءِمِنمَّآءٍۢفَأَحْيَابِهِٱلْأَرْضَبَعْدَمَوْتِهَاوَبَثَّفِيهَامِنكُلِّدَآبَّةٍۢوَتَصْرِيفِٱلرِّيَـٰحِوَٱلسَّحَابِٱلْمُسَخَّرِبَيْنَٱلسَّمَآءِوَٱلْأَرْضِلَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢلِّقَوْمٍۢيَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūnaliqawminlaāyātinwal-arḍil-samāibaynal-musakhariwal-saḥābil-riyāḥiwataṣrīfidābbatinkulliminfīhāwabathamawtihābaʿdal-arḍabihifa-aḥyāmāinminl-samāiminal-lahuanzalawamāl-nāsayanfaʿubimāl-baḥrifītajrīallatīwal-ful'kiwal-nahārial-layliwa-ikh'tilāfiwal-arḍil-samāwātikhalqifīinna
Indeedin(the) creation(of) the heavensand the earthand alternationof the nightand the dayand the shipswhichsailinthe seawith whatbenefits[the] peopleand what(has) sent downAllahfromthe sky[of]watergiving lifethereby(to) the earthafterits deathand dispersingtherein[of]everymoving creatureand directing(of) the windsand the clouds[the] controlledbetweenthe skyand the earthsurely (are) Signsfor a peoplewho use their intellect
2:164
وَمِنَٱلنَّاسِمَنيَتَّخِذُمِندُونِٱللَّهِأَندَادًۭايُحِبُّونَهُمْكَحُبِّٱللَّهِ ۖوَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوٓا۟أَشَدُّحُبًّۭالِّلَّهِ ۗوَلَوْيَرَىٱلَّذِينَظَلَمُوٓا۟إِذْيَرَوْنَٱلْعَذَابَأَنَّٱلْقُوَّةَلِلَّهِجَمِيعًۭاوَأَنَّٱللَّهَشَدِيدُٱلْعَذَابِ
l-ʿadhābishadīdul-lahawa-annajamīʿanlillahil-quwataannal-ʿadhābayarawnaidhẓalamūalladhīnayarāwalawlillahiḥubbanashadduāmanūwa-alladhīnal-lahikaḥubbiyuḥibbūnahumandādanl-lahidūniminyattakhidhumanl-nāsiwamina
And amongthe mankindwhotakesfrombesidesAllahequalsThey love themas (they should) loveAllahAnd those whobelieve[d](are) stronger(in) lovefor AllahAnd ifwould seethose whowrongedwhenthey will seethe punishmentthatthe power(belongs) to Allahalland [that]Allah(is) severe(in) [the] punishment
2:165
إِذْتَبَرَّأَٱلَّذِينَٱتُّبِعُوا۟مِنَٱلَّذِينَٱتَّبَعُوا۟وَرَأَوُا۟ٱلْعَذَابَوَتَقَطَّعَتْبِهِمُٱلْأَسْبَابُ
l-asbābubihimuwataqaṭṭaʿatl-ʿadhābawara-awūittabaʿūalladhīnaminaittubiʿūalladhīnatabarra-aidh
Whenwill disownthose whowere followed[from]those whofollowedand they will seethe punishment[and] will be cut offfor themthe relations
2:166
وَقَالَٱلَّذِينَٱتَّبَعُوا۟لَوْأَنَّلَنَاكَرَّةًۭفَنَتَبَرَّأَمِنْهُمْكَمَاتَبَرَّءُوا۟مِنَّا ۗكَذَٰلِكَيُرِيهِمُٱللَّهُأَعْمَـٰلَهُمْحَسَرَٰتٍعَلَيْهِمْ ۖوَمَاهُمبِخَـٰرِجِينَمِنَٱلنَّارِ
l-nāriminabikhārijīnahumwamāʿalayhimḥasarātinaʿmālahuml-lahuyurīhimukadhālikaminnātabarraūkamāmin'humfanatabarra-akarratanlanāannalawittabaʿūalladhīnawaqāla
And saidthose whofollowed(Only) if[that]for usa returnthen we will disown[from] themasthey disown[from] usThuswill show themAllahtheir deeds(as) regretsfor themAnd nottheywill come outfromthe Fire
2:167
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلنَّاسُكُلُوا۟مِمَّافِىٱلْأَرْضِحَلَـٰلًۭاطَيِّبًۭاوَلَاتَتَّبِعُوا۟خُطُوَٰتِٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚإِنَّهُۥلَكُمْعَدُوٌّۭمُّبِينٌ
mubīnunʿaduwwunlakuminnahul-shayṭānikhuṭuwātitattabiʿūwalāṭayyibanḥalālanl-arḍifīmimmākulūl-nāsuyāayyuhā
OmankindEatof what(is) inthe earthlawful(and) goodAnd (do) notfollow(the) footsteps (of)the ShaitaanIndeed, he(is) to youan enemyclear
2:168
إِنَّمَايَأْمُرُكُمبِٱلسُّوٓءِوَٱلْفَحْشَآءِوَأَنتَقُولُوا۟عَلَىٱللَّهِمَالَاتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnalāmāl-lahiʿalātaqūlūwa-anwal-faḥshāibil-sūiyamurukuminnamā
Onlyhe commands youto (do) the eviland the shamefuland thatyou sayaboutAllahwhatnotyou know
2:169
وَإِذَاقِيلَلَهُمُٱتَّبِعُوا۟مَآأَنزَلَٱللَّهُقَالُوا۟بَلْنَتَّبِعُمَآأَلْفَيْنَاعَلَيْهِءَابَآءَنَآ ۗأَوَلَوْكَانَءَابَآؤُهُمْلَايَعْقِلُونَشَيْـًۭٔاوَلَايَهْتَدُونَ
yahtadūnawalāshayanyaʿqilūnalāābāuhumkānaawalawābāanāʿalayhialfaynāmānattabiʿubalqālūl-lahuanzalamāittabiʿūlahumuqīlawa-idhā
And whenit is saidto themFollowwhathas revealedAllahthey saidNaywe followwhatwe found[on it]our forefathers (following)Even though[were]their forefathers(did) notunderstandanythingand notwere they guided
2:170
وَمَثَلُٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟كَمَثَلِٱلَّذِىيَنْعِقُبِمَالَايَسْمَعُإِلَّادُعَآءًۭوَنِدَآءًۭ ۚصُمٌّۢبُكْمٌعُمْىٌۭفَهُمْلَايَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūnalāfahumʿum'yunbuk'munṣummunwanidāanduʿāanillāyasmaʿulābimāyanʿiqualladhīkamathalikafarūalladhīnawamathalu
And (the) example(of) those whodisbelieve[d](is) like (the) example(of) the one whoshoutsat whatnot(does) hearexceptcallsand cries deafdumb(and) blind[so] they(do) notunderstand
2:171
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟كُلُوا۟مِنطَيِّبَـٰتِمَارَزَقْنَـٰكُمْوَٱشْكُرُوا۟لِلَّهِإِنكُنتُمْإِيَّاهُتَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūnaiyyāhukuntuminlillahiwa-ush'kurūrazaqnākummāṭayyibātiminkulūāmanūalladhīnayāayyuhā
O youwhobelieve[d]Eatfrom(the) good(of) whatWe have provided youand be gratefulto Allahifyoualoneworship Him
2:172
إِنَّمَاحَرَّمَعَلَيْكُمُٱلْمَيْتَةَوَٱلدَّمَوَلَحْمَٱلْخِنزِيرِوَمَآأُهِلَّبِهِۦلِغَيْرِٱللَّهِ ۖفَمَنِٱضْطُرَّغَيْرَبَاغٍۢوَلَاعَادٍۢفَلَآإِثْمَعَلَيْهِ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَغَفُورٌۭرَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmunghafūrunl-lahainnaʿalayhiith'mafalāʿādinwalābāghinghayrauḍ'ṭurrafamanil-lahilighayribihiuhillawamāl-khinzīriwalaḥmawal-damal-maytataʿalaykumuḥarramainnamā
OnlyHe has forbiddento youthe dead animalsand [the] bloodand flesh(of) swineand whathas been dedicated[with it]to other thanAllahSo whoever(is) forced by necessitywithout(being) disobedientand nottransgressorthen nosinon himIndeedAllah(is) Oft-ForgivingMost Merciful
2:173
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَيَكْتُمُونَمَآأَنزَلَٱللَّهُمِنَٱلْكِتَـٰبِوَيَشْتَرُونَبِهِۦثَمَنًۭاقَلِيلًا ۙأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَمَايَأْكُلُونَفِىبُطُونِهِمْإِلَّاٱلنَّارَوَلَايُكَلِّمُهُمُٱللَّهُيَوْمَٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِوَلَايُزَكِّيهِمْوَلَهُمْعَذَابٌأَلِيمٌ
alīmunʿadhābunwalahumyuzakkīhimwalāl-qiyāmatiyawmal-lahuyukallimuhumuwalāl-nāraillābuṭūnihimfīyakulūnamāulāikaqalīlanthamananbihiwayashtarūnal-kitābiminal-lahuanzalamāyaktumūnaalladhīnainna
Indeedthose whoconcealwhat(has) revealedAllah (has)ofthe Bookand they purchasethere witha gainlittleThosenotthey eatintheir belliesexceptthe FireAnd notwill speak to themAllah(on the) Day(of) [the] Judgmentand notwill He purify themand for them(is) a punishmentpainful
2:174
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَٱلَّذِينَٱشْتَرَوُا۟ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةَبِٱلْهُدَىٰوَٱلْعَذَابَبِٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚفَمَآأَصْبَرَهُمْعَلَىٱلنَّارِ
l-nāriʿalāaṣbarahumfamābil-maghfiratiwal-ʿadhābabil-hudāl-ḍalālataish'tarawūalladhīnaulāika
Those(are) they whopurchase[d][the] astrayingfor [the] Guidanceand [the] punishmentfor [the] forgivenessSo what (is)their enduranceonthe Fire
2:175
ذَٰلِكَبِأَنَّٱللَّهَنَزَّلَٱلْكِتَـٰبَبِٱلْحَقِّ ۗوَإِنَّٱلَّذِينَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟فِىٱلْكِتَـٰبِلَفِىشِقَاقٍۭبَعِيدٍۢ
baʿīdinshiqāqinlafīl-kitābifīikh'talafūalladhīnawa-innabil-ḥaqil-kitābanazzalal-lahabi-annadhālika
That(is) becauseAllahrevealedthe Bookwith [the] TruthAnd indeedthosewho differedinthe Book(are) surely inschismfar
2:176
۞ لَّيْسَٱلْبِرَّأَنتُوَلُّوا۟وُجُوهَكُمْقِبَلَٱلْمَشْرِقِوَٱلْمَغْرِبِوَلَـٰكِنَّٱلْبِرَّمَنْءَامَنَبِٱللَّهِوَٱلْيَوْمِٱلْـَٔاخِرِوَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِوَٱلْكِتَـٰبِوَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَوَءَاتَىٱلْمَالَعَلَىٰحُبِّهِۦذَوِىٱلْقُرْبَىٰوَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰوَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينَوَٱبْنَٱلسَّبِيلِوَٱلسَّآئِلِينَوَفِىٱلرِّقَابِوَأَقَامَٱلصَّلَوٰةَوَءَاتَىٱلزَّكَوٰةَوَٱلْمُوفُونَبِعَهْدِهِمْإِذَاعَـٰهَدُوا۟ ۖوَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَفِىٱلْبَأْسَآءِوَٱلضَّرَّآءِوَحِينَٱلْبَأْسِ ۗأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَٱلَّذِينَصَدَقُوا۟ ۖوَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَهُمُٱلْمُتَّقُونَ
l-mutaqūnahumuwa-ulāikaṣadaqūalladhīnaulāikal-basiwaḥīnawal-ḍarāil-basāifīwal-ṣābirīnaʿāhadūidhābiʿahdihimwal-mūfūnal-zakatawaātāl-ṣalatawa-aqāmal-riqābiwafīwal-sāilīnal-sabīliwa-ib'nawal-masākīnawal-yatāmāl-qur'bādhawīḥubbihiʿalāl-mālawaātāwal-nabiyīnawal-kitābiwal-malāikatil-ākhiriwal-yawmibil-lahiāmanamanl-birawalākinnawal-maghribil-mashriqiqibalawujūhakumtuwallūanl-biralaysa
It is not[the] righteousnessthatyou turnyour facestowardsthe eastand the west[and] butthe righteous[ness](is he) whobelievesin Allahand the Day[the] Lastand the Angelsand the Bookand the Prophetsand givesthe wealthinspite of his love (for it)(to) those(of) the near relativesand the orphansand the needyand (of)the wayfarerand those who askand infreeing the necks (slaves)and (who) establishthe prayerand givethe zakahand those who fulfilltheir covenantwhenthey make itand those who are patientin[the] sufferingand [the] hardshipand (the) time(of) [the] stressThose(are) the ones whoare trueand those[they](are) the righteous
2:177
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟كُتِبَعَلَيْكُمُٱلْقِصَاصُفِىٱلْقَتْلَى ۖٱلْحُرُّبِٱلْحُرِّوَٱلْعَبْدُبِٱلْعَبْدِوَٱلْأُنثَىٰبِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ۚفَمَنْعُفِىَلَهُۥمِنْأَخِيهِشَىْءٌۭفَٱتِّبَاعٌۢبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِوَأَدَآءٌإِلَيْهِبِإِحْسَـٰنٍۢ ۗذَٰلِكَتَخْفِيفٌۭمِّنرَّبِّكُمْوَرَحْمَةٌۭ ۗفَمَنِٱعْتَدَىٰبَعْدَذَٰلِكَفَلَهُۥعَذَابٌأَلِيمٌۭ
alīmunʿadhābunfalahudhālikabaʿdaiʿ'tadāfamaniwaraḥmatunrabbikummintakhfīfundhālikabi-iḥ'sāninilayhiwa-adāonbil-maʿrūfifa-ittibāʿunshayonakhīhiminlahuʿufiyafamanbil-unthāwal-unthābil-ʿabdiwal-ʿabdubil-ḥuril-ḥurul-qatlāfīl-qiṣāṣuʿalaykumukutibaāmanūalladhīnayāayyuhā
O youwhobelieve[d]Prescribedfor you(is) the legal retributionin(the matter of) the murderedthe freemanfor the freemanand the slavefor the slaveand the femalefor the femaleBut whoeveris pardoned[for it]fromhis brotheranythingthen follows upwith suitable[and] paymentto himwith kindnessThat (is)a concessionfromyour Lordand mercyThen whoevertransgressesafterthatthen for him(is) a punishmentpainful
2:178
وَلَكُمْفِىٱلْقِصَاصِحَيَوٰةٌۭيَـٰٓأُو۟لِىٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِلَعَلَّكُمْتَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūnalaʿallakuml-albābiyāulīḥayatunl-qiṣāṣifīwalakum
And for youinthe legal retribution(is) lifeO men(of) understandingSo that you may(become) righteous
2:179
كُتِبَعَلَيْكُمْإِذَاحَضَرَأَحَدَكُمُٱلْمَوْتُإِنتَرَكَخَيْرًاٱلْوَصِيَّةُلِلْوَٰلِدَيْنِوَٱلْأَقْرَبِينَبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۖحَقًّاعَلَىٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīnaʿalāḥaqqanbil-maʿrūfiwal-aqrabīnalil'wālidaynil-waṣiyatukhayrantarakainl-mawtuaḥadakumuḥaḍaraidhāʿalaykumkutiba
Prescribedfor youwhenapproachesany of you[the] deathifhe leavesgood(making) the willfor the parentsand the near relativeswith due fairnessa dutyonthe righteous ones
2:180
فَمَنۢبَدَّلَهُۥبَعْدَ مَاسَمِعَهُۥفَإِنَّمَآإِثْمُهُۥعَلَىٱلَّذِينَيُبَدِّلُونَهُۥٓ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَسَمِيعٌعَلِيمٌۭ
alimunsami'unal-lahainnayubaddilūnahualladhīnaʿalāith'muhufa-innamāsamiʿahubaʿdamābaddalahufaman
Then whoeverchanges itafter whathe (has) heard [it]so onlyits sin(would be) onthose whoalter itIndeedAllah(is) All-HearingAll-Knowing
2:181
فَمَنْخَافَمِنمُّوصٍۢجَنَفًاأَوْإِثْمًۭافَأَصْلَحَبَيْنَهُمْفَلَآإِثْمَعَلَيْهِ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَغَفُورٌۭرَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunghafūrunl-lahainnaʿalayhiith'mafalābaynahumfa-aṣlaḥaith'manawjanafanmūṣinminkhāfafaman
But whoeverfearsfrom(the) testator(any) errororsinthen reconcilesbetween themthen (there is) nosinon himIndeedAllah(is) Oft-ForgivingAll-Merciful
2:182
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟كُتِبَعَلَيْكُمُٱلصِّيَامُكَمَاكُتِبَعَلَىٱلَّذِينَمِنقَبْلِكُمْلَعَلَّكُمْتَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūnalaʿallakumqablikumminalladhīnaʿalākutibakamāl-ṣiyāmuʿalaykumukutibaāmanūalladhīnayāayyuhā
O youwhobelieve[d]Is prescribedfor you[the] fastingaswas prescribedtothosefrombefore youso that you may(become) righteous
2:183
أَيَّامًۭامَّعْدُودَٰتٍۢ ۚفَمَنكَانَمِنكُممَّرِيضًاأَوْعَلَىٰسَفَرٍۢفَعِدَّةٌۭمِّنْأَيَّامٍأُخَرَ ۚوَعَلَىٱلَّذِينَيُطِيقُونَهُۥفِدْيَةٌۭطَعَامُمِسْكِينٍۢ ۖفَمَنتَطَوَّعَخَيْرًۭافَهُوَخَيْرٌۭلَّهُۥ ۚوَأَنتَصُومُوا۟خَيْرٌۭلَّكُمْ ۖإِنكُنتُمْتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnakuntuminlakumkhayruntaṣūmūwa-anlahukhayrunfahuwakhayrantaṭawwaʿafamanmis'kīninṭaʿāmufid'yatunyuṭīqūnahualladhīnawaʿalāukharaayyāminminfaʿiddatunsafarinʿalāawmarīḍanminkumkānafamanmaʿdūdātinayyāman
(Fasting for) daysnumberedSo whoeverisamong yousickorona journeythen a prescribed numberofdaysotherAnd onthose whocan afford ita ransom(of) feedinga poorAnd whoevervolunteersgoodthen it(is) betterfor himAnd tofast(is) betterfor youifyouknow
2:184
شَهْرُرَمَضَانَٱلَّذِىٓأُنزِلَفِيهِٱلْقُرْءَانُهُدًۭىلِّلنَّاسِوَبَيِّنَـٰتٍۢمِّنَٱلْهُدَىٰوَٱلْفُرْقَانِ ۚفَمَنشَهِدَمِنكُمُٱلشَّهْرَفَلْيَصُمْهُ ۖوَمَنكَانَمَرِيضًاأَوْعَلَىٰسَفَرٍۢفَعِدَّةٌۭمِّنْأَيَّامٍأُخَرَ ۗيُرِيدُٱللَّهُبِكُمُٱلْيُسْرَوَلَايُرِيدُبِكُمُٱلْعُسْرَوَلِتُكْمِلُوا۟ٱلْعِدَّةَوَلِتُكَبِّرُوا۟ٱللَّهَعَلَىٰمَاهَدَىٰكُمْوَلَعَلَّكُمْتَشْكُرُونَ
tashkurūnawalaʿallakumhadākummāʿalāl-lahawalitukabbirūl-ʿidatawalituk'milūl-ʿus'rabikumuyurīduwalāl-yus'rabikumul-lahuyurīduukharaayyāminminfaʿiddatunsafarinʿalāawmarīḍankānawamanfalyaṣum'hul-shahraminkumushahidafamanwal-fur'qānil-hudāminawabayyinātinlilnnāsihudanl-qur'ānufīhiunzilaalladhīramaḍānashahru
Month(of) Ramadhaan(is) thatwas revealedthereinthe Qurana Guidancefor mankindand clear proofsof[the] Guidanceand the CriterionSo whoeverwitnessesamong youthe monththen he should fast in itand whoeverissickorona journeythen prescribed number (should be made up)fromdaysotherIntendsAllahfor you[the] easeand notintendsfor you[the] hardshipso that you completethe prescribed periodand that you magnifyAllahfor[what]He guided youso that you may(be) grateful
2:185
وَإِذَاسَأَلَكَعِبَادِىعَنِّىفَإِنِّىقَرِيبٌ ۖأُجِيبُدَعْوَةَٱلدَّاعِإِذَادَعَانِ ۖفَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟لِىوَلْيُؤْمِنُوا۟بِىلَعَلَّهُمْيَرْشُدُونَ
yarshudūnalaʿallahumbīwalyu'minūlīfalyastajībūdaʿāniidhāl-dāʿidaʿwataujībuqarībunfa-innīʿannīʿibādīsa-alakawa-idhā
And whenask youMy servantsabout Methen indeed I amnearI respond(to the) invocation(of) the supplicantwhenhe calls MeSo let them respondto Meand let them believein Meso that they may(be) led aright
2:186
أُحِلَّلَكُمْلَيْلَةَٱلصِّيَامِٱلرَّفَثُإِلَىٰنِسَآئِكُمْ ۚهُنَّلِبَاسٌۭلَّكُمْوَأَنتُمْلِبَاسٌۭلَّهُنَّ ۗعَلِمَٱللَّهُأَنَّكُمْكُنتُمْتَخْتَانُونَأَنفُسَكُمْفَتَابَعَلَيْكُمْوَعَفَاعَنكُمْ ۖفَٱلْـَٔـٰنَبَـٰشِرُوهُنَّوَٱبْتَغُوا۟مَاكَتَبَٱللَّهُلَكُمْ ۚوَكُلُوا۟وَٱشْرَبُوا۟حَتَّىٰيَتَبَيَّنَلَكُمُٱلْخَيْطُٱلْأَبْيَضُمِنَٱلْخَيْطِٱلْأَسْوَدِمِنَٱلْفَجْرِ ۖثُمَّأَتِمُّوا۟ٱلصِّيَامَإِلَىٱلَّيْلِ ۚوَلَاتُبَـٰشِرُوهُنَّوَأَنتُمْعَـٰكِفُونَفِىٱلْمَسَـٰجِدِ ۗتِلْكَحُدُودُٱللَّهِفَلَاتَقْرَبُوهَا ۗكَذَٰلِكَيُبَيِّنُٱللَّهُءَايَـٰتِهِۦلِلنَّاسِلَعَلَّهُمْيَتَّقُونَ
yattaqūnalaʿallahumlilnnāsiāyātihil-lahuyubayyinukadhālikataqrabūhāfalāl-lahiḥudūdutil'kal-masājidifīʿākifūnawa-antumtubāshirūhunnawalāal-layliilāl-ṣiyāmaatimmūthummal-fajriminal-aswadil-khayṭiminal-abyaḍul-khayṭulakumuyatabayyanaḥattāwa-ish'rabūwakulūlakuml-lahukatabamāwa-ib'taghūbāshirūhunnafal-ānaʿankumwaʿafāʿalaykumfatābaanfusakumtakhtānūnakuntumannakuml-lahuʿalimalahunnalibāsunwa-antumlakumlibāsunhunnanisāikumilāl-rafathul-ṣiyāmilaylatalakumuḥilla
Permittedfor you(in the) nights(of) fasting(is) the approachtoyour wivesThey(are) garmentsfor youand you(are) garmentsfor themKnowsAllahthat youused todeceiveyourselvesso He turnedtowards youand He forgave[on] youSo nowhave relations with themand seekwhathas ordainedAllahfor youAnd eatand drinkuntilbecomes distinctto youthe thread[the] whitefromthe thread[the] blackof[the] dawnThencompletethe fasttillthe nightAnd (do) nothave relations with themwhile you(are) secludedinthe masajidThese(are the) limits(set by) Allahso (do) notapproach themThusmakes clearAllahHis versesfor [the] peopleso that they may(become) righteous
2:187
وَلَاتَأْكُلُوٓا۟أَمْوَٰلَكُمبَيْنَكُمبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِوَتُدْلُوا۟بِهَآإِلَىٱلْحُكَّامِلِتَأْكُلُوا۟فَرِيقًۭامِّنْأَمْوَٰلِٱلنَّاسِبِٱلْإِثْمِوَأَنتُمْتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnawa-antumbil-ith'mil-nāsiamwāliminfarīqanlitakulūl-ḥukāmiilābihāwatud'lūbil-bāṭilibaynakumamwālakumtakulūwalā
And (do) noteatyour propertiesamong yourselveswrongfullyand present[with] ittothe authoritiesso that you may eata portionfrom(the) wealth(of) the peoplesinfullywhile youknow
2:188
۞ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَعَنِٱلْأَهِلَّةِ ۖقُلْهِىَمَوَٰقِيتُلِلنَّاسِوَٱلْحَجِّ ۗوَلَيْسَٱلْبِرُّبِأَنتَأْتُوا۟ٱلْبُيُوتَمِنظُهُورِهَاوَلَـٰكِنَّٱلْبِرَّمَنِٱتَّقَىٰ ۗوَأْتُوا۟ٱلْبُيُوتَمِنْأَبْوَٰبِهَا ۚوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَلَعَلَّكُمْتُفْلِحُونَ
tuf'liḥūnalaʿallakuml-lahawa-ittaqūabwābihāminl-buyūtawatūittaqāmanil-birawalākinnaẓuhūrihāminl-buyūtatatūbi-anl-biruwalaysawal-ḥajililnnāsimawāqītuhiyaqull-ahilatiʿaniyasalūnaka
They ask youaboutthe new moonsSayThey(are) indicators of periodsfor the peopleand (for) the HajjAnd it is not[the] righteousnessthatyou come(to) the housesfromtheir backs[and] but[the] righteous(is one) whofears (Allah)And come(to) the housesfromtheir doorsAnd fearAllahso that you may(be) successful
2:189
وَقَـٰتِلُوا۟فِىسَبِيلِٱللَّهِٱلَّذِينَيُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْوَلَاتَعْتَدُوٓا۟ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَلَايُحِبُّٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
l-muʿ'tadīnayuḥibbulāl-lahainnataʿtadūwalāyuqātilūnakumalladhīnal-lahisabīlifīwaqātilū
And fightin(the) way(of) Allahthose whofight youand (do) nottransgressIndeedAllah(does) notlikethe transgressors
2:190
وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْحَيْثُثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْوَأَخْرِجُوهُممِّنْحَيْثُأَخْرَجُوكُمْ ۚوَٱلْفِتْنَةُأَشَدُّمِنَٱلْقَتْلِ ۚوَلَاتُقَـٰتِلُوهُمْعِندَٱلْمَسْجِدِٱلْحَرَامِحَتَّىٰيُقَـٰتِلُوكُمْفِيهِ ۖفَإِنقَـٰتَلُوكُمْفَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ ۗكَذَٰلِكَجَزَآءُٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīnajazāukadhālikafa-uq'tulūhumqātalūkumfa-infīhiyuqātilūkumḥattāl-ḥarāmil-masjidiʿindatuqātilūhumwalāl-qatliminaashadduwal-fit'natuakhrajūkumḥaythuminwa-akhrijūhumthaqif'tumūhumḥaythuwa-uq'tulūhum
And kill themwhereveryou find themand drive them outfromwhereverthey drove you outand [the] oppression(is) worsethan[the] killingAnd (do) notfight themnearAl-MasjidAl-Haraamuntilthey fight youin itThen ifthey fight youthen kill themSuch(is the) reward(of) the disbelievers
2:191
فَإِنِٱنتَهَوْا۟فَإِنَّٱللَّهَغَفُورٌۭرَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunghafūrunl-lahafa-innaintahawfa-ini
Then ifthey ceasethen indeedAllah(is) Oft-ForgivingMost Merciful
2:192
وَقَـٰتِلُوهُمْحَتَّىٰلَاتَكُونَفِتْنَةٌۭوَيَكُونَٱلدِّينُلِلَّهِ ۖفَإِنِٱنتَهَوْا۟فَلَاعُدْوَٰنَإِلَّاعَلَىٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīnaʿalāillāʿud'wānafalāintahawfa-inilillahil-dīnuwayakūnafit'natuntakūnalāḥattāwaqātilūhum
And fight (against) themuntilnot(there) isoppressionand becomesthe religionfor AllahThen ifthey ceasethen (let there be) nohostilityexceptagainstthe oppressors
2:193
ٱلشَّهْرُٱلْحَرَامُبِٱلشَّهْرِٱلْحَرَامِوَٱلْحُرُمَـٰتُقِصَاصٌۭ ۚفَمَنِٱعْتَدَىٰعَلَيْكُمْفَٱعْتَدُوا۟عَلَيْهِبِمِثْلِمَاٱعْتَدَىٰعَلَيْكُمْ ۚوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَمَعَٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīnamaʿal-lahaannawa-iʿ'lamūl-lahawa-ittaqūʿalaykumiʿ'tadāmābimith'liʿalayhifa-iʿ'tadūʿalaykumiʿ'tadāfamaniqiṣāṣunwal-ḥurumātul-ḥarāmibil-shahril-ḥarāmual-shahru
The month[the] sacred(is) for the month[the] sacredand for all the violations(is) legal retributionThen whoevertransgressedupon youthen you transgresson himin (the) same manner(as)he transgressedupon youAnd fearAllahand knowthatAllah(is) withthose who fear (Him)
2:194
وَأَنفِقُوا۟فِىسَبِيلِٱللَّهِوَلَاتُلْقُوا۟بِأَيْدِيكُمْإِلَىٱلتَّهْلُكَةِ ۛوَأَحْسِنُوٓا۟ ۛإِنَّٱللَّهَيُحِبُّٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
l-muḥ'sinīnayuḥibbul-lahainnawa-aḥsinūl-tahlukatiilābi-aydīkumtul'qūwalāl-lahisabīlifīwa-anfiqū
And spendin(the) way(of) Allahand (do) notthrow (yourselves)[with your hands]into[the] destructionAnd do goodindeedAllahlovesthe good-doers
2:195
وَأَتِمُّوا۟ٱلْحَجَّوَٱلْعُمْرَةَلِلَّهِ ۚفَإِنْأُحْصِرْتُمْفَمَاٱسْتَيْسَرَمِنَٱلْهَدْىِ ۖوَلَاتَحْلِقُوا۟رُءُوسَكُمْحَتَّىٰيَبْلُغَٱلْهَدْىُمَحِلَّهُۥ ۚفَمَنكَانَمِنكُممَّرِيضًاأَوْبِهِۦٓأَذًۭىمِّنرَّأْسِهِۦفَفِدْيَةٌۭمِّنصِيَامٍأَوْصَدَقَةٍأَوْنُسُكٍۢ ۚفَإِذَآأَمِنتُمْفَمَنتَمَتَّعَبِٱلْعُمْرَةِإِلَىٱلْحَجِّفَمَاٱسْتَيْسَرَمِنَٱلْهَدْىِ ۚفَمَنلَّمْيَجِدْفَصِيَامُثَلَـٰثَةِأَيَّامٍۢفِىٱلْحَجِّوَسَبْعَةٍإِذَارَجَعْتُمْ ۗتِلْكَعَشَرَةٌۭكَامِلَةٌۭ ۗذَٰلِكَلِمَنلَّمْيَكُنْأَهْلُهُۥحَاضِرِىٱلْمَسْجِدِٱلْحَرَامِ ۚوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَشَدِيدُٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābishadīdul-lahaannawa-iʿ'lamūl-lahawa-ittaqūl-ḥarāmil-masjidiḥāḍirīahluhuyakunlamlimandhālikakāmilatunʿasharatuntil'karajaʿtumidhāwasabʿatinl-ḥajifīayyāminthalāthatifaṣiyāmuyajidlamfamanl-hadyiminais'taysarafamāl-ḥajiilābil-ʿum'ratitamattaʿafamanamintumfa-idhānusukinawṣadaqatinawṣiyāminminfafid'yatunrasihiminadhanbihiawmarīḍanminkumkānafamanmaḥillahul-hadyuyablughaḥattāruūsakumtaḥliqūwalāl-hadyiminais'taysarafamāuḥ'ṣir'tumfa-inlillahiwal-ʿum'ratal-ḥajawa-atimmū
And completethe Hajjand the Umrahfor AllahAnd ifyou are held backthen (offer) whatever(can be) obtained with easeofthe sacrificial animalAnd (do) notshaveyour headsuntilreachesthe sacrificial animal(to) its destinationThen whoeverisamong youillorhe (has)an ailmentofhis headthen a ransomoffastingorcharityorsacrificeThen whenyou are securethen whoevertook advantageof the Umrahfollowed(by) the Hajjthen (offer) whatever(can be) obtained with easeofthe sacrificial animalBut whoever(can) notfind then a fast(of) threedaysduringthe Hajjand seven (days)whenyou returnThis(is) ten (days)in allThat(is) for (the one) whosenotishis familypresent(near) Al-MasjidAl-HaraamAnd fearAllahand knowthatAllah(is) severe(in) retribution
2:196
ٱلْحَجُّأَشْهُرٌۭمَّعْلُومَـٰتٌۭ ۚفَمَنفَرَضَفِيهِنَّٱلْحَجَّفَلَارَفَثَوَلَافُسُوقَوَلَاجِدَالَفِىٱلْحَجِّ ۗوَمَاتَفْعَلُوا۟مِنْخَيْرٍۢيَعْلَمْهُٱللَّهُ ۗوَتَزَوَّدُوا۟فَإِنَّخَيْرَٱلزَّادِٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۚوَٱتَّقُونِيَـٰٓأُو۟لِىٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
l-albābiyāulīwa-ittaqūnil-taqwāl-zādikhayrafa-innawatazawwadūl-lahuyaʿlamhukhayrinmintafʿalūwamāl-ḥajifījidālawalāfusūqawalārafathafalāl-ḥajafīhinnafaraḍafamanmaʿlūmātunashhurunal-ḥaju
(For) the Hajj(are) monthswell knownthen whoeverundertakesthereinthe Hajjthen nosexual relationsand nowickednessand noquarrellingduringthe HajjAnd whateveryou doofgoodknows itAllahAnd take provision(but) indeed(the) bestprovision(is) righteousnessAnd fear MeO men(of) understanding
2:197
لَيْسَعَلَيْكُمْجُنَاحٌأَنتَبْتَغُوا۟فَضْلًۭامِّنرَّبِّكُمْ ۚفَإِذَآأَفَضْتُممِّنْعَرَفَـٰتٍۢفَٱذْكُرُوا۟ٱللَّهَعِندَٱلْمَشْعَرِٱلْحَرَامِ ۖوَٱذْكُرُوهُكَمَاهَدَىٰكُمْوَإِنكُنتُممِّنقَبْلِهِۦلَمِنَٱلضَّآلِّينَ
l-ḍālīnalaminaqablihiminkuntumwa-inhadākumkamāwa-udh'kurūhul-ḥarāmil-mashʿariʿindal-lahafa-udh'kurūʿarafātinminafaḍtumfa-idhārabbikumminfaḍlantabtaghūanjunāḥunʿalaykumlaysa
Not ison youany sinthatyou seekbountyfromyour LordAnd whenyou departfrom(Mount) Arafatthen rememberAllahnearthe Monument[the] SacredAnd remember HimasHe (has) guided you[and] thoughyou were[from]before [it]surely amongthose who went astray
2:198
ثُمَّأَفِيضُوا۟مِنْحَيْثُأَفَاضَٱلنَّاسُوَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ٱللَّهَ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَغَفُورٌۭرَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunghafūrunl-lahainnal-lahawa-is'taghfirūl-nāsuafāḍaḥaythuminafīḍūthumma
Thendepartfromwhereverdepartthe peopleand ask forgiveness(of) AllahIndeedAllah(is) Oft-ForgivingMost Merciful
2:199
فَإِذَاقَضَيْتُممَّنَـٰسِكَكُمْفَٱذْكُرُوا۟ٱللَّهَكَذِكْرِكُمْءَابَآءَكُمْأَوْأَشَدَّذِكْرًۭا ۗفَمِنَٱلنَّاسِمَنيَقُولُرَبَّنَآءَاتِنَافِىٱلدُّنْيَاوَمَالَهُۥفِىٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِمِنْخَلَـٰقٍۢ
khalāqinminl-ākhiratifīlahuwamāl-dun'yāfīātinārabbanāyaqūlumanl-nāsifaminadhik'ranashaddaawābāakumkadhik'rikuml-lahafa-udh'kurūmanāsikakumqaḍaytumfa-idhā
Then whenyou complete[d]your acts of worshipthen rememberAllahas you rememberyour forefathersor(with) greaterremembranceAnd fromthe peoplewhosayOur LordGrant usinthe worldAnd notfor himinthe Hereafter[of]any share
2:200
وَمِنْهُممَّنيَقُولُرَبَّنَآءَاتِنَافِىٱلدُّنْيَاحَسَنَةًۭوَفِىٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِحَسَنَةًۭوَقِنَاعَذَابَٱلنَّارِ
l-nāriʿadhābawaqināḥasanatanl-ākhiratiwafīḥasanatanl-dun'yāfīātinārabbanāyaqūlumanwamin'hum
And from thosewhosayOur LordGrant usinthe worldgoodand inthe Hereaftergoodand save us(from the) punishment(of) the Fire
2:201
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَلَهُمْنَصِيبٌۭمِّمَّاكَسَبُوا۟ ۚوَٱللَّهُسَرِيعُٱلْحِسَابِ
l-ḥisābisarīʿuwal-lahukasabūmimmānaṣībunlahumulāika
Those for them(is) a shareof whatthey earnedand Allah(is) swift(in taking) account
2:202
۞ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ٱللَّهَفِىٓأَيَّامٍۢمَّعْدُودَٰتٍۢ ۚفَمَنتَعَجَّلَفِىيَوْمَيْنِفَلَآإِثْمَعَلَيْهِوَمَنتَأَخَّرَفَلَآإِثْمَعَلَيْهِ ۚلِمَنِٱتَّقَىٰ ۗوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّكُمْإِلَيْهِتُحْشَرُونَ
tuḥ'sharūnailayhiannakumwa-iʿ'lamūl-lahawa-ittaqūittaqālimaniʿalayhiith'mafalāta-akharawamanʿalayhiith'mafalāyawmaynifītaʿajjalafamanmaʿdūdātinayyāminfīl-lahawa-udh'kurū
And rememberAllahduringdaysnumberedThen (he) whohurriesintwo daysthen nosinupon himand whoeverdelaysthen nosinupon himfor (the one) whofearsAnd fearAllahand knowthat youunto Himwill be gathered
2:203
وَمِنَٱلنَّاسِمَنيُعْجِبُكَقَوْلُهُۥفِىٱلْحَيَوٰةِٱلدُّنْيَاوَيُشْهِدُٱللَّهَعَلَىٰمَافِىقَلْبِهِۦوَهُوَأَلَدُّٱلْخِصَامِ
l-khiṣāmialadduwahuwaqalbihifīmāʿalāl-lahawayush'hidul-dun'yāl-ḥayatifīqawluhuyuʿ'jibukamanl-nāsiwamina
And ofthe people(is the one) whopleases you(with) his speechinthe life(of) the worldand he calls to witnessAllahonwhat(is) inhis heartand he(is) the most quarrelsome(of) opponents
2:204
وَإِذَاتَوَلَّىٰسَعَىٰفِىٱلْأَرْضِلِيُفْسِدَفِيهَاوَيُهْلِكَٱلْحَرْثَوَٱلنَّسْلَ ۗوَٱللَّهُلَايُحِبُّٱلْفَسَادَ
l-fasādayuḥibbulāwal-lahuwal-naslal-ḥarthawayuh'likafīhāliyuf'sidal-arḍifīsaʿātawallāwa-idhā
And whenhe turns awayhe strivesinthe earthto spread corruption[in it]and destroysthe cropsand progenyAnd Allah(does) notlove[the] corruption
2:205
وَإِذَاقِيلَلَهُٱتَّقِٱللَّهَأَخَذَتْهُٱلْعِزَّةُبِٱلْإِثْمِ ۚفَحَسْبُهُۥجَهَنَّمُ ۚوَلَبِئْسَٱلْمِهَادُ
l-mihāduwalabi'sajahannamufaḥasbuhubil-ith'mil-ʿizatuakhadhathul-lahaittaqilahuqīlawa-idhā
And whenit is saidto himFearAllahtakes him(his) prideto [the] sinsThen enough for him(is) Hell [and] surely an evil[the] resting-place
2:206
وَمِنَٱلنَّاسِمَنيَشْرِىنَفْسَهُٱبْتِغَآءَمَرْضَاتِٱللَّهِ ۗوَٱللَّهُرَءُوفٌۢبِٱلْعِبَادِ
bil-ʿibādiraūfunwal-lahul-lahimarḍātiib'tighāanafsahuyashrīmanl-nāsiwamina
And ofthe people(is the one) whosellshis own selfseekingpleasure(of) AllahAnd Allah(is) full of Kindnessto His servants
2:207
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟ٱدْخُلُوا۟فِىٱلسِّلْمِكَآفَّةًۭوَلَاتَتَّبِعُوا۟خُطُوَٰتِٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚإِنَّهُۥلَكُمْعَدُوٌّۭمُّبِينٌۭ
mubīnunʿaduwwunlakuminnahul-shayṭānikhuṭuwātitattabiʿūwalākāffatanl-sil'mifīud'khulūāmanūalladhīnayāayyuhā
O youwhobelieve[d]EnterinIslamcompletelyand (do) notfollowfootsteps(of) the ShaitaanIndeed, he(is) for youan enemyopen
2:208
فَإِنزَلَلْتُممِّنۢبَعْدِمَاجَآءَتْكُمُٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُفَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَعَزِيزٌحَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmunʿazīzunl-lahaannafa-iʿ'lamūl-bayinātujāatkumumābaʿdiminzalaltumfa-in
Then ifyou slipfromafter[what]came to you(from) the clear proofsthen knowthatAllah(is) All-MightyAll-Wise
2:209
هَلْيَنظُرُونَإِلَّآأَنيَأْتِيَهُمُٱللَّهُفِىظُلَلٍۢمِّنَٱلْغَمَامِوَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُوَقُضِىَٱلْأَمْرُ ۚوَإِلَىٱللَّهِتُرْجَعُٱلْأُمُورُ
l-umūrutur'jaʿul-lahiwa-ilāl-amruwaquḍiyawal-malāikatul-ghamāmiminaẓulalinfīl-lahuyatiyahumuanillāyanẓurūnahal
Arethey waiting[except]thatcomes to themAllahin(the) shadowsof[the] cloudsand the Angelsand is decreedthe matterAnd toAllahreturn(all) the matters
2:210
سَلْبَنِىٓإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَكَمْءَاتَيْنَـٰهُممِّنْءَايَةٍۭبَيِّنَةٍۢ ۗوَمَنيُبَدِّلْنِعْمَةَٱللَّهِمِنۢبَعْدِمَاجَآءَتْهُفَإِنَّٱللَّهَشَدِيدُٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābishadīdul-lahafa-innajāathumābaʿdiminl-lahiniʿ'matayubaddilwamanbayyinatināyatinminātaynāhumkamis'rāīlabanīsal
Ask(the) Children(of) Israelhow manyWe gave themof(the) Sign(s)clearAnd whoeverchangesFavor(of) Allahfromafter[what]it (has) come to him then indeedAllah(is) severein [the] chastising
2:211
زُيِّنَلِلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟ٱلْحَيَوٰةُٱلدُّنْيَاوَيَسْخَرُونَمِنَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟ ۘوَٱلَّذِينَٱتَّقَوْا۟فَوْقَهُمْيَوْمَٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗوَٱللَّهُيَرْزُقُمَنيَشَآءُبِغَيْرِحِسَابٍۢ
ḥisābinbighayriyashāumanyarzuquwal-lahul-qiyāmatiyawmafawqahumittaqawwa-alladhīnaāmanūalladhīnaminawayaskharūnal-dun'yāl-ḥayatukafarūlilladhīnazuyyina
Beautifiedfor those whodisbelieve[d](is) the life(of) the worldand they ridicule[of]those whobelieve[d]And those whofear (Allah)(they will be) above them(on the) Day(of) ResurrectionAnd AllahprovideswhomHe willswithoutmeasure
2:212
كَانَٱلنَّاسُأُمَّةًۭوَٰحِدَةًۭفَبَعَثَٱللَّهُٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَمُبَشِّرِينَوَمُنذِرِينَوَأَنزَلَمَعَهُمُٱلْكِتَـٰبَبِٱلْحَقِّلِيَحْكُمَبَيْنَٱلنَّاسِفِيمَاٱخْتَلَفُوا۟فِيهِ ۚوَمَاٱخْتَلَفَفِيهِإِلَّاٱلَّذِينَأُوتُوهُمِنۢبَعْدِمَاجَآءَتْهُمُٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُبَغْيًۢابَيْنَهُمْ ۖفَهَدَىٱللَّهُٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟لِمَاٱخْتَلَفُوا۟فِيهِمِنَٱلْحَقِّبِإِذْنِهِۦ ۗوَٱللَّهُيَهْدِىمَنيَشَآءُإِلَىٰصِرَٰطٍۢمُّسْتَقِيمٍ
mus'taqīminṣirāṭinilāyashāumanyahdīwal-lahubi-idh'nihil-ḥaqiminafīhiikh'talafūlimāāmanūalladhīnal-lahufahadābaynahumbaghyanl-bayinātujāathumumābaʿdiminūtūhualladhīnaillāfīhiikh'talafawamāfīhiikh'talafūfīmāl-nāsibaynaliyaḥkumabil-ḥaqil-kitābamaʿahumuwa-anzalawamundhirīnamubashirīnal-nabiyīnal-lahufabaʿathawāḥidatanummatanl-nāsukāna
Wasmankinda communitysinglethen raised upAllah[the] Prophets(as) bearers of glad tidingsand (as) warnersand sent downwith themthe Bookin [the] truthto judgebetween[the] peoplein whatthey differed[in it]And (did) notdiffer[ed]in itexceptthose whowere given itfromafter[what]came to themthe clear proofs(out of) jealousyamong themselvesAnd guidedAllahthose whobelieve[d]regarding whatthey differed[in it]ofthe Truthwith His permissionAnd AllahguideswhomHe willstoa pathstraight
2:213
أَمْحَسِبْتُمْأَنتَدْخُلُوا۟ٱلْجَنَّةَوَلَمَّايَأْتِكُممَّثَلُٱلَّذِينَخَلَوْا۟مِنقَبْلِكُم ۖمَّسَّتْهُمُٱلْبَأْسَآءُوَٱلضَّرَّآءُوَزُلْزِلُوا۟حَتَّىٰيَقُولَٱلرَّسُولُوَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟مَعَهُۥمَتَىٰنَصْرُٱللَّهِ ۗأَلَآإِنَّنَصْرَٱللَّهِقَرِيبٌۭ
qarībunl-lahinaṣrainnaalāl-lahinaṣrumatāmaʿahuāmanūwa-alladhīnal-rasūluyaqūlaḥattāwazul'zilūwal-ḍarāul-basāumassathumuqablikumminkhalawalladhīnamathaluyatikumwalammāl-janatatadkhulūanḥasib'tumam
Or(do) you thinkthatyou will enterParadisewhile not(has) come to youlike (came to)those whopassed awayfrombefore youTouched them[the] adversityand [the] hardshipand they were shakenuntilsaidthe Messengerand those whobelievedwith himWhen[will] (the) help(of) Allah (come)Unquestionably[Indeed]help(of) Allah(is) near
2:214
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَمَاذَايُنفِقُونَ ۖقُلْمَآأَنفَقْتُممِّنْخَيْرٍۢفَلِلْوَٰلِدَيْنِوَٱلْأَقْرَبِينَوَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰوَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِوَٱبْنِٱلسَّبِيلِ ۗوَمَاتَفْعَلُوا۟مِنْخَيْرٍۢفَإِنَّٱللَّهَبِهِۦعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunbihil-lahafa-innakhayrinmintafʿalūwamāl-sabīliwa-ib'niwal-masākīniwal-yatāmāwal-aqrabīnafalil'wālidaynikhayrinminanfaqtummāqulyunfiqūnamādhāyasalūnaka
They ask youwhatthey (should) spendSayWhateveryou spendofgood(is) for parentsand the relativesand the orphansand the needyand (of)the wayfarerAnd whateveryou doofgoodSo indeedAllahof it(is) All-Aware
2:215
كُتِبَعَلَيْكُمُٱلْقِتَالُوَهُوَكُرْهٌۭلَّكُمْ ۖوَعَسَىٰٓأَنتَكْرَهُوا۟شَيْـًۭٔاوَهُوَخَيْرٌۭلَّكُمْ ۖوَعَسَىٰٓأَنتُحِبُّوا۟شَيْـًۭٔاوَهُوَشَرٌّۭلَّكُمْ ۗوَٱللَّهُيَعْلَمُوَأَنتُمْلَاتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnalāwa-antumyaʿlamuwal-lahulakumsharrunwahuwashayantuḥibbūanwaʿasālakumkhayrunwahuwashayantakrahūanwaʿasālakumkur'hunwahuwal-qitāluʿalaykumukutiba
Is prescribedupon you[the] fightingwhile it(is) hatefulto youBut perhaps[that]you dislikea thingand it(is) goodfor youand perhaps[that]you lovea thingand it(is) badfor youAnd Allahknowswhile you(do) notknow
2:216
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَعَنِٱلشَّهْرِٱلْحَرَامِقِتَالٍۢفِيهِ ۖقُلْقِتَالٌۭفِيهِكَبِيرٌۭ ۖوَصَدٌّعَنسَبِيلِٱللَّهِوَكُفْرٌۢبِهِۦوَٱلْمَسْجِدِٱلْحَرَامِوَإِخْرَاجُأَهْلِهِۦمِنْهُأَكْبَرُعِندَٱللَّهِ ۚوَٱلْفِتْنَةُأَكْبَرُمِنَٱلْقَتْلِ ۗوَلَايَزَالُونَيُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْحَتَّىٰيَرُدُّوكُمْعَندِينِكُمْإِنِٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ ۚوَمَنيَرْتَدِدْمِنكُمْعَندِينِهِۦفَيَمُتْوَهُوَكَافِرٌۭفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَحَبِطَتْأَعْمَـٰلُهُمْفِىٱلدُّنْيَاوَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖوَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَأَصْحَـٰبُٱلنَّارِ ۖهُمْفِيهَاخَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūnafīhāhuml-nāriaṣḥābuwa-ulāikawal-ākhiratil-dun'yāfīaʿmāluhumḥabiṭatfa-ulāikakāfirunwahuwafayamutdīnihiʿanminkumyartadidwamanis'taṭāʿūinidīnikumʿanyaruddūkumḥattāyuqātilūnakumyazālūnawalāl-qatliminaakbaruwal-fit'natul-lahiʿindaakbarumin'huahlihiwa-ikh'rājul-ḥarāmiwal-masjidibihiwakuf'runl-lahisabīliʿanwaṣaddunkabīrunfīhiqitālunqulfīhiqitālinl-ḥarāmil-shahriʿaniyasalūnaka
They ask youaboutthe month[the] sacred (concerning) fightingin itSayFightingtherein(is) a great (sin)but hindering (people)from(the) way(of) Allahand disbeliefin Himand (preventing access to) Al-MasjidAl-Haraamand driving outits peoplefrom it(is) greater (sin)nearAllahAnd [the] oppression(is) greaterthan[the] killingAnd notthey will cease(to) fight with youuntilthey turn you awayfromyour religionifthey are ableAnd whoeverturns awayamong youfromhis religionthen dieswhile he(is) a disbelieverfor thosebecame worthlesstheir deedsinthe worldand the HereafterAnd those(are) companions(of) the Firetheyin it(will) abide forever
2:217
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟وَٱلَّذِينَهَاجَرُوا۟وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟فِىسَبِيلِٱللَّهِأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَيَرْجُونَرَحْمَتَٱللَّهِ ۚوَٱللَّهُغَفُورٌۭرَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunghafūrunwal-lahul-lahiraḥmatayarjūnaulāikal-lahisabīlifīwajāhadūhājarūwa-alladhīnaāmanūalladhīnainna
Indeedthose whobelievedand those whoemigratedand strovein(the) way(of) Allah thosethey hope(for) Mercy(of) AllahAnd Allah(is) Oft-ForgivingMost Merciful
2:218
۞ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَعَنِٱلْخَمْرِوَٱلْمَيْسِرِ ۖقُلْفِيهِمَآإِثْمٌۭكَبِيرٌۭوَمَنَـٰفِعُلِلنَّاسِوَإِثْمُهُمَآأَكْبَرُمِننَّفْعِهِمَا ۗوَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَمَاذَايُنفِقُونَقُلِٱلْعَفْوَ ۗكَذَٰلِكَيُبَيِّنُٱللَّهُلَكُمُٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِلَعَلَّكُمْتَتَفَكَّرُونَ
tatafakkarūnalaʿallakuml-āyātilakumul-lahuyubayyinukadhālikal-ʿafwaquliyunfiqūnamādhāwayasalūnakanafʿihimāminakbaruwa-ith'muhumālilnnāsiwamanāfiʿukabīrunith'munfīhimāqulwal-maysiril-khamriʿaniyasalūnaka
They ask youabout[the] intoxicantsand [the] games of chanceSayIn both of them(is) a singreatand (some) benefitsfor [the] peopleBut sin of both of them(is) greaterthan(the) benefit of (the) twoAnd they ask youwhatthey (should) spendSayThe surplusThusmakes clearAllahto you[the] Versesso that you mayponder
2:219
فِىٱلدُّنْيَاوَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۗوَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَعَنِٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ ۖقُلْإِصْلَاحٌۭلَّهُمْخَيْرٌۭ ۖوَإِنتُخَالِطُوهُمْفَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ ۚوَٱللَّهُيَعْلَمُٱلْمُفْسِدَمِنَٱلْمُصْلِحِ ۚوَلَوْشَآءَٱللَّهُلَأَعْنَتَكُمْ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَعَزِيزٌحَكِيمٌۭ
ḥakīmunʿazīzunl-lahainnala-aʿnatakuml-lahushāawalawl-muṣ'liḥiminal-muf'sidayaʿlamuwal-lahufa-ikh'wānukumtukhāliṭūhumwa-inkhayrunlahumiṣ'lāḥunqull-yatāmāʿaniwayasalūnakawal-ākhiratil-dun'yāfī
Concerningthe worldand the HereafterThey ask youaboutthe orphansSaySetting right (their affairs)for them(is) bestAnd ifyou associate with themthen they (are) your brothersAnd Allahknowsthe corrupterfromthe amenderAnd if(had) willedAllahsurely He (could have) put you in difficultiesIndeedAllah(is) All-MightyAll-Wise
2:220
وَلَاتَنكِحُوا۟ٱلْمُشْرِكَـٰتِحَتَّىٰيُؤْمِنَّ ۚوَلَأَمَةٌۭمُّؤْمِنَةٌخَيْرٌۭمِّنمُّشْرِكَةٍۢوَلَوْأَعْجَبَتْكُمْ ۗوَلَاتُنكِحُوا۟ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَحَتَّىٰيُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚوَلَعَبْدٌۭمُّؤْمِنٌخَيْرٌۭمِّنمُّشْرِكٍۢوَلَوْأَعْجَبَكُمْ ۗأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَيَدْعُونَإِلَىٱلنَّارِ ۖوَٱللَّهُيَدْعُوٓا۟إِلَىٱلْجَنَّةِوَٱلْمَغْفِرَةِبِإِذْنِهِۦ ۖوَيُبَيِّنُءَايَـٰتِهِۦلِلنَّاسِلَعَلَّهُمْيَتَذَكَّرُونَ
yatadhakkarūnalaʿallahumlilnnāsiāyātihiwayubayyinubi-idh'nihiwal-maghfiratil-janatiilāyadʿūwal-lahul-nāriilāyadʿūnaulāikaaʿjabakumwalawmush'rikinminkhayrunmu'minunwalaʿabdunyu'minūḥattāl-mush'rikīnatunkiḥūwalāaʿjabatkumwalawmush'rikatinminkhayrunmu'minatunwala-amatunyu'minnaḥattāl-mush'rikātitankiḥūwalā
And (do) not[you] marry[the] polytheistic womenuntilthey believeAnd a bondwoman(who is) believing(is) betterthana polytheistic woman[and] even ifshe pleases youAnd (do) notgive in marriage (your women)(to) [the] polytheistic menuntilthey believeand a bondman(who is) believing(is) betterthana polytheistic man[and] even ifhe pleases you[Those]they invitetothe Fireand AllahinvitestoParadiseand [the] forgivenessby His permissionAnd He makes clearHis Versesfor the peopleso that they maytake heed
2:221
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَعَنِٱلْمَحِيضِ ۖقُلْهُوَأَذًۭىفَٱعْتَزِلُوا۟ٱلنِّسَآءَفِىٱلْمَحِيضِ ۖوَلَاتَقْرَبُوهُنَّحَتَّىٰيَطْهُرْنَ ۖفَإِذَاتَطَهَّرْنَفَأْتُوهُنَّمِنْحَيْثُأَمَرَكُمُٱللَّهُ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَيُحِبُّٱلتَّوَّٰبِينَوَيُحِبُّٱلْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
l-mutaṭahirīnawayuḥibbul-tawābīnayuḥibbul-lahainnal-lahuamarakumuḥaythuminfatūhunnataṭahharnafa-idhāyaṭhur'naḥattātaqrabūhunnawalāl-maḥīḍifīl-nisāafa-iʿ'tazilūadhanhuwaqull-maḥīḍiʿaniwayasalūnaka
And they ask youabout[the] menstruationSayIt(is) a hurtso keep away (from)[the] womenduring(their) [the] menstruationAnd (do) notapproach themuntilthey are cleansedThen whenthey are purifiedthen come to themfromwherehas ordered youAllahIndeedAllahlovesthose who turn in repentanceand lovesthose who purify themselves
2:222
نِسَآؤُكُمْحَرْثٌۭلَّكُمْفَأْتُوا۟حَرْثَكُمْأَنَّىٰشِئْتُمْ ۖوَقَدِّمُوا۟لِأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّكُممُّلَـٰقُوهُ ۗوَبَشِّرِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīnawabashirimulāqūhuannakumwa-iʿ'lamūl-lahawa-ittaqūli-anfusikumwaqaddimūshi'tumannāḥarthakumfatūlakumḥarthunnisāukum
Your wives(are) a tilthfor youso come(to) your tilthwhenyou wishand send forth (good deeds)for yourselvesAnd be conscious(of) Allahand knowthat you(will) meet HimAnd give glad tidings(to) the believers
2:223
وَلَاتَجْعَلُوا۟ٱللَّهَعُرْضَةًۭلِّأَيْمَـٰنِكُمْأَنتَبَرُّوا۟وَتَتَّقُوا۟وَتُصْلِحُوا۟بَيْنَٱلنَّاسِ ۗوَٱللَّهُسَمِيعٌعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunsamīʿunwal-lahul-nāsibaynawatuṣ'liḥūwatattaqūtabarrūanli-aymānikumʿur'ḍatanl-lahatajʿalūwalā
And (do) notmakeAllah's (name)an excusein your oathsthatyou do goodand be righteousand make peacebetween[the] peopleAnd Allah(is) All-HearingAll-Knowing
2:224
لَّايُؤَاخِذُكُمُٱللَّهُبِٱللَّغْوِفِىٓأَيْمَـٰنِكُمْوَلَـٰكِنيُؤَاخِذُكُمبِمَاكَسَبَتْقُلُوبُكُمْ ۗوَٱللَّهُغَفُورٌحَلِيمٌۭ
ḥalīmunghafūrunwal-lahuqulūbukumkasabatbimāyuākhidhukumwalākinaymānikumfībil-laghwil-lahuyuākhidhukumulā
Notwill take you to taskAllahfor (what is) unintentionalinyour oaths[and] butHe takes you to taskfor what(have) earnedyour heartsAnd Allah(is) Oft-ForgivingMost Forbearing
2:225
لِّلَّذِينَيُؤْلُونَمِننِّسَآئِهِمْتَرَبُّصُأَرْبَعَةِأَشْهُرٍۢ ۖفَإِنفَآءُوفَإِنَّٱللَّهَغَفُورٌۭرَّحِيمٌۭ
raḥīmunghafūrunl-lahafa-innafāūfa-inashhurinarbaʿatitarabbuṣunisāihimminyu'lūnalilladhīna
For those whoswear (off)fromtheir wives(is a) waiting (of)fourmonthsthen ifthey return then indeedAllah(is) Oft-ForgivingMost Merciful
2:226
وَإِنْعَزَمُوا۟ٱلطَّلَـٰقَفَإِنَّٱللَّهَسَمِيعٌعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunsamīʿunl-lahafa-innal-ṭalāqaʿazamūwa-in
And ifthey resolve(on) [the] divorce then indeedAllah(is) All-HearingAll-Knowing
2:227
وَٱلْمُطَلَّقَـٰتُيَتَرَبَّصْنَبِأَنفُسِهِنَّثَلَـٰثَةَقُرُوٓءٍۢ ۚوَلَايَحِلُّلَهُنَّأَنيَكْتُمْنَمَاخَلَقَٱللَّهُفِىٓأَرْحَامِهِنَّإِنكُنَّيُؤْمِنَّبِٱللَّهِوَٱلْيَوْمِٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۚوَبُعُولَتُهُنَّأَحَقُّبِرَدِّهِنَّفِىذَٰلِكَإِنْأَرَادُوٓا۟إِصْلَـٰحًۭا ۚوَلَهُنَّمِثْلُٱلَّذِىعَلَيْهِنَّبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۚوَلِلرِّجَالِعَلَيْهِنَّدَرَجَةٌۭ ۗوَٱللَّهُعَزِيزٌحَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmunʿazīzunwal-lahudarajatunʿalayhinnawalilrrijālibil-maʿrūfiʿalayhinnaalladhīmith'luwalahunnaiṣ'lāḥanarādūindhālikafībiraddihinnaaḥaqquwabuʿūlatuhunnal-ākhiriwal-yawmibil-lahiyu'minnakunnainarḥāmihinnafīl-lahukhalaqamāyaktum'naanlahunnayaḥilluwalāqurūinthalāthatabi-anfusihinnayatarabbaṣnawal-muṭalaqātu
And the women who are divorcedshall waitconcerning themselves(for) threemonthly periodsAnd (it is) notlawfulfor themthatthey concealwhat(has been) created(by) Allahintheir wombsiftheybelievein Allahand the Day[the] LastAnd their husbands(have) better rightto take them backinthat (period)ifthey wish(for) reconciliationAnd for them(is the) like(of) that which(is) on themin a reasonable mannerand for the menover them(is) a degreeAnd Allah(is) All-MightyAll-Wise
2:228
ٱلطَّلَـٰقُمَرَّتَانِ ۖفَإِمْسَاكٌۢبِمَعْرُوفٍأَوْتَسْرِيحٌۢبِإِحْسَـٰنٍۢ ۗوَلَايَحِلُّلَكُمْأَنتَأْخُذُوا۟مِمَّآءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّشَيْـًٔاإِلَّآأَنيَخَافَآأَلَّايُقِيمَاحُدُودَٱللَّهِ ۖفَإِنْخِفْتُمْأَلَّايُقِيمَاحُدُودَٱللَّهِفَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْهِمَافِيمَاٱفْتَدَتْبِهِۦ ۗتِلْكَحُدُودُٱللَّهِفَلَاتَعْتَدُوهَا ۚوَمَنيَتَعَدَّحُدُودَٱللَّهِفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَهُمُٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūnahumufa-ulāikal-lahiḥudūdayataʿaddawamantaʿtadūhāfalāl-lahiḥudūdutil'kabihiif'tadatfīmāʿalayhimājunāḥafalāl-lahiḥudūdayuqīmāallākhif'tumfa-inl-lahiḥudūdayuqīmāallāyakhāfāanillāshayanātaytumūhunnamimmātakhudhūanlakumyaḥilluwalābi-iḥ'sānintasrīḥunawbimaʿrūfinfa-im'sākunmarratānial-ṭalāqu
The divorce(is) twiceThen to retainin a reasonable mannerorto release (her)with kindnessAnd (it is) notlawfulfor youthatyou take (back)whateveryou have given themanythingexceptifboth fearthat notthey both (can) keep(the) limits(of) AllahBut ifyou fearthat notthey both (can) keep(the) limits(of) Allahthen (there is) nosinon both of themin whatshe ransomsconcerning itThese(are the) limits(of) Allahso (do) nottransgress themAnd whoevertransgresses(the) limits(of) Allahthen those they(are) the wrongdoers
2:229
فَإِنطَلَّقَهَافَلَاتَحِلُّلَهُۥمِنۢبَعْدُحَتَّىٰتَنكِحَزَوْجًاغَيْرَهُۥ ۗفَإِنطَلَّقَهَافَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْهِمَآأَنيَتَرَاجَعَآإِنظَنَّآأَنيُقِيمَاحُدُودَٱللَّهِ ۗوَتِلْكَحُدُودُٱللَّهِيُبَيِّنُهَالِقَوْمٍۢيَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūnaliqawminyubayyinuhāl-lahiḥudūduwatil'kal-lahiḥudūdayuqīmāanẓannāinyatarājaʿāanʿalayhimājunāḥafalāṭallaqahāfa-inghayrahuzawjantankiḥaḥattābaʿduminlahutaḥillufalāṭallaqahāfa-in
Then ifhe divorces herthen (she is) notlawfulfor himfromafter (that)untilshe marriesa spouseother than himThen ifhe divorces herthen nosinon themifthey return to each otherifthey believethatthey (will be able to) keep(the) limits(of) AllahAnd these(are the) limits(of) AllahHe makes them clearto a peoplewho know
2:230
وَإِذَاطَلَّقْتُمُٱلنِّسَآءَفَبَلَغْنَأَجَلَهُنَّفَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّبِمَعْرُوفٍأَوْسَرِّحُوهُنَّبِمَعْرُوفٍۢ ۚوَلَاتُمْسِكُوهُنَّضِرَارًۭالِّتَعْتَدُوا۟ ۚوَمَنيَفْعَلْذَٰلِكَفَقَدْظَلَمَنَفْسَهُۥ ۚوَلَاتَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ءَايَـٰتِٱللَّهِهُزُوًۭا ۚوَٱذْكُرُوا۟نِعْمَتَٱللَّهِعَلَيْكُمْوَمَآأَنزَلَعَلَيْكُممِّنَٱلْكِتَـٰبِوَٱلْحِكْمَةِيَعِظُكُمبِهِۦ ۚوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَبِكُلِّشَىْءٍعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunshayinbikullil-lahaannawa-iʿ'lamūl-lahawa-ittaqūbihiyaʿiẓukumwal-ḥik'matil-kitābiminaʿalaykumanzalawamāʿalaykuml-lahiniʿ'matawa-udh'kurūhuzuwanl-lahiāyātitattakhidhūwalānafsahuẓalamafaqaddhālikayafʿalwamanlitaʿtadūḍirārantum'sikūhunnawalābimaʿrūfinsarriḥūhunnaawbimaʿrūfinfa-amsikūhunnaajalahunnafabalaghnal-nisāaṭallaqtumuwa-idhā
And whenyou divorcethe womenand they reachtheir (waiting) termthen retain themin a fair mannerorrelease themin a fair mannerAnd (do) notretain them(to) hurtso that you transgressAnd whoeverdoesthatthen indeedhe wrongedhimselfAnd (do) nottake(the) Verses(of) Allah(in) jestand remember(the) Favors(of) Allahupon youand what(is) revealedto youofthe Bookand [the] wisdomHe instructs youwith itAnd fearAllahand knowthatAllah (is)of everythingAll-Knower
2:231
وَإِذَاطَلَّقْتُمُٱلنِّسَآءَفَبَلَغْنَأَجَلَهُنَّفَلَاتَعْضُلُوهُنَّأَنيَنكِحْنَأَزْوَٰجَهُنَّإِذَاتَرَٰضَوْا۟بَيْنَهُمبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗذَٰلِكَيُوعَظُبِهِۦمَنكَانَمِنكُمْيُؤْمِنُبِٱللَّهِوَٱلْيَوْمِٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۗذَٰلِكُمْأَزْكَىٰلَكُمْوَأَطْهَرُ ۗوَٱللَّهُيَعْلَمُوَأَنتُمْلَاتَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnalāwa-antumyaʿlamuwal-lahuwa-aṭharulakumazkādhālikuml-ākhiriwal-yawmibil-lahiyu'minuminkumkānamanbihiyūʿaẓudhālikabil-maʿrūfibaynahumtarāḍawidhāazwājahunnayankiḥ'naantaʿḍulūhunnafalāajalahunnafabalaghnal-nisāaṭallaqtumuwa-idhā
And whenyou divorce[the] womenand they reachedtheir (waiting) termthen (do) nothinder them[that](from) marryingtheir husbandswhenthey agreebetween themselvesin a fair mannerThatis admonishedwith itwhoever[is]among youbelievesin Allahand the Day[the] Lastthat(is) more virtuousfor youand more purerAnd Allahknowsand you(do) notknow
2:232
۞ وَٱلْوَٰلِدَٰتُيُرْضِعْنَأَوْلَـٰدَهُنَّحَوْلَيْنِكَامِلَيْنِ ۖلِمَنْأَرَادَأَنيُتِمَّٱلرَّضَاعَةَ ۚوَعَلَىٱلْمَوْلُودِلَهُۥرِزْقُهُنَّوَكِسْوَتُهُنَّبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۚلَاتُكَلَّفُنَفْسٌإِلَّاوُسْعَهَا ۚلَاتُضَآرَّوَٰلِدَةٌۢبِوَلَدِهَاوَلَامَوْلُودٌۭلَّهُۥبِوَلَدِهِۦ ۚوَعَلَىٱلْوَارِثِمِثْلُذَٰلِكَ ۗفَإِنْأَرَادَافِصَالًاعَنتَرَاضٍۢمِّنْهُمَاوَتَشَاوُرٍۢفَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْهِمَا ۗوَإِنْأَرَدتُّمْأَنتَسْتَرْضِعُوٓا۟أَوْلَـٰدَكُمْفَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْكُمْإِذَاسَلَّمْتُممَّآءَاتَيْتُمبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗوَٱتَّقُوا۟ٱللَّهَوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَبِمَاتَعْمَلُونَبَصِيرٌۭ
baṣīruntaʿmalūnabimāl-lahaannawa-iʿ'lamūl-lahawa-ittaqūbil-maʿrūfiātaytummāsallamtumidhāʿalaykumjunāḥafalāawlādakumtastarḍiʿūanaradttumwa-inʿalayhimājunāḥafalāwatashāwurinmin'humātarāḍinʿanfiṣālanarādāfa-indhālikamith'lul-wārithiwaʿalābiwaladihilahumawlūdunwalābiwaladihāwālidatuntuḍārralāwus'ʿahāillānafsuntukallafulābil-maʿrūfiwakis'watuhunnariz'quhunnalahul-mawlūdiwaʿalāl-raḍāʿatayutimmaanarādalimankāmilayniḥawlayniawlādahunnayur'ḍiʿ'nawal-wālidātu
And the mothersshall suckletheir children(for) two yearscompletefor whoeverwishestocompletethe sucklingAnd uponthe father(on) him(is) their provisionand their clothingin a fair mannerNotis burdenedany soulexceptits capacityNotmade to suffer(the) motherbecause of her childand not(the) father(be)because of his childAnd onthe (father's) heir(is a duty) likethat (of the father)Then ifthey both desireweaningthroughmutual consentof both of themand consultationthen noblameon both of themAnd ifyou wanttoask another women to suckleyour childthen (there is) noblameon youwhenyou paywhatyou givein a fair mannerAnd fearAllahand knowthatAllahof whatyou do(is) All-Seer
2:233
وَٱلَّذِينَيُتَوَفَّوْنَمِنكُمْوَيَذَرُونَأَزْوَٰجًۭايَتَرَبَّصْنَبِأَنفُسِهِنَّأَرْبَعَةَأَشْهُرٍۢوَعَشْرًۭا ۖفَإِذَابَلَغْنَأَجَلَهُنَّفَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْكُمْفِيمَافَعَلْنَفِىٓأَنفُسِهِنَّبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗوَٱللَّهُبِمَاتَعْمَلُونَخَبِيرٌۭ
khabīruntaʿmalūnabimāwal-lahubil-maʿrūfianfusihinnafīfaʿalnafīmāʿalaykumjunāḥafalāajalahunnabalaghnafa-idhāwaʿashranashhurinarbaʿatabi-anfusihinnayatarabbaṣnaazwājanwayadharūnaminkumyutawaffawnawa-alladhīna
And those whopass awayamong youand leave behindwives(the widows) should waitfor themselves(for) fourmonthsand ten (days)Then whenthey reachtheir (specified) termthen (there is) noblameupon youfor whatthey doconcerningthemselvesin a fair mannerAnd Allahof whatyou do(is) All-Aware
2:234
وَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْكُمْفِيمَاعَرَّضْتُمبِهِۦمِنْخِطْبَةِٱلنِّسَآءِأَوْأَكْنَنتُمْفِىٓأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚعَلِمَٱللَّهُأَنَّكُمْسَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّوَلَـٰكِنلَّاتُوَاعِدُوهُنَّسِرًّاإِلَّآأَنتَقُولُوا۟قَوْلًۭامَّعْرُوفًۭا ۚوَلَاتَعْزِمُوا۟عُقْدَةَٱلنِّكَاحِحَتَّىٰيَبْلُغَٱلْكِتَـٰبُأَجَلَهُۥ ۚوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَيَعْلَمُمَافِىٓأَنفُسِكُمْفَٱحْذَرُوهُ ۚوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَغَفُورٌحَلِيمٌۭ
ḥalīmunghafūrunl-lahaannawa-iʿ'lamūfa-iḥ'dharūhuanfusikumfīmāyaʿlamul-lahaannawa-iʿ'lamūajalahul-kitābuyablughaḥattāl-nikāḥiʿuq'datataʿzimūwalāmaʿrūfanqawlantaqūlūanillāsirrantuwāʿidūhunnalāwalākinsatadhkurūnahunnaannakuml-lahuʿalimaanfusikumfīaknantumawl-nisāikhiṭ'batiminbihiʿarraḍtumfīmāʿalaykumjunāḥawalā
And (there is) noblameupon youin whatyou hint[with it]ofmarriage proposal[to] the womenoryou conceal itinyourselvesKnowsAllahthat youwill mention them[and] but(do) notpromise them (widows)secretlyexceptthatyou saya sayinghonorableAnd (do) notresolve (on)the knot(of) marriageuntilreachesthe prescribed termits endAnd knowthatAllahknowswhat(is) withinyourselvesso beware of HimAnd knowthatAllah(is) Oft-ForgivingMost Forbearing
2:235
لَّاجُنَاحَعَلَيْكُمْإِنطَلَّقْتُمُٱلنِّسَآءَمَالَمْتَمَسُّوهُنَّأَوْتَفْرِضُوا۟لَهُنَّفَرِيضَةًۭ ۚوَمَتِّعُوهُنَّعَلَىٱلْمُوسِعِقَدَرُهُۥوَعَلَىٱلْمُقْتِرِقَدَرُهُۥمَتَـٰعًۢابِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۖحَقًّاعَلَىٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
l-muḥ'sinīnaʿalāḥaqqanbil-maʿrūfimatāʿanqadaruhul-muq'tiriwaʿalāqadaruhul-mūsiʿiʿalāwamattiʿūhunnafarīḍatanlahunnatafriḍūawtamassūhunnalammāl-nisāaṭallaqtumuinʿalaykumjunāḥalā
(There is) noblameupon youifyou divorce[the] womenwhomnotyou have touchednoryou specifiedfor theman obligation (dower)And make provision for them uponthe wealthyaccording to his meansand uponthe pooraccording to his means a provisionin a fair mannera dutyuponthe good-doers
2:236
وَإِنطَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّمِنقَبْلِأَنتَمَسُّوهُنَّوَقَدْفَرَضْتُمْلَهُنَّفَرِيضَةًۭفَنِصْفُمَافَرَضْتُمْإِلَّآأَنيَعْفُونَأَوْيَعْفُوَا۟ٱلَّذِىبِيَدِهِۦعُقْدَةُٱلنِّكَاحِ ۚوَأَنتَعْفُوٓا۟أَقْرَبُلِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۚوَلَاتَنسَوُا۟ٱلْفَضْلَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَبِمَاتَعْمَلُونَبَصِيرٌ
baṣīruntaʿmalūnabimāl-lahainnabaynakuml-faḍlatansawūwalālilttaqwāaqrabutaʿfūwa-anl-nikāḥiʿuq'datubiyadihialladhīyaʿfuwāawyaʿfūnaanillāfaraḍtummāfaniṣ'fufarīḍatanlahunnafaraḍtumwaqadtamassūhunnaanqabliminṭallaqtumūhunnawa-in
And ifyou divorce themfrombefore[that]you (have) touched themwhile alreadyyou have specifiedfor theman obligation (dower)then (give) half(of) whatyou have specifiedunless[that]they (women) forgo (it)orforgoesthe onein whose hands(is the) knot(of) the marriageAnd thatyou forgo(is) nearerto [the] righteousnessAnd (do) notforgetthe graciousnessamong youIndeedAllahof whatyou do(is) All-Seer
2:237
حَـٰفِظُوا۟عَلَىٱلصَّلَوَٰتِوَٱلصَّلَوٰةِٱلْوُسْطَىٰوَقُومُوا۟لِلَّهِقَـٰنِتِينَ
qānitīnalillahiwaqūmūl-wus'ṭāwal-ṣalatil-ṣalawātiʿalāḥāfiẓū
Guard strictly[on]the prayersand the prayer [the] middleand stand upfor Allahdevoutly obedient
2:238
فَإِنْخِفْتُمْفَرِجَالًاأَوْرُكْبَانًۭا ۖفَإِذَآأَمِنتُمْفَٱذْكُرُوا۟ٱللَّهَكَمَاعَلَّمَكُممَّالَمْتَكُونُوا۟تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūnatakūnūlammāʿallamakumkamāl-lahafa-udh'kurūamintumfa-idhāruk'bānanawfarijālankhif'tumfa-in
And ifyou fearthen (pray) on footorridingThen whenyou are securethen rememberAllahasHe (has) taught youwhatnotyou wereknowing
2:239
وَٱلَّذِينَيُتَوَفَّوْنَمِنكُمْوَيَذَرُونَأَزْوَٰجًۭاوَصِيَّةًۭلِّأَزْوَٰجِهِممَّتَـٰعًاإِلَىٱلْحَوْلِغَيْرَإِخْرَاجٍۢ ۚفَإِنْخَرَجْنَفَلَاجُنَاحَعَلَيْكُمْفِىمَافَعَلْنَفِىٓأَنفُسِهِنَّمِنمَّعْرُوفٍۢ ۗوَٱللَّهُعَزِيزٌحَكِيمٌۭ
ḥakīmunʿazīzunwal-lahumaʿrūfinminanfusihinnafīfaʿalnamāfīʿalaykumjunāḥafalākharajnafa-inikh'rājinghayral-ḥawliilāmatāʿanli-azwājihimwaṣiyyatanazwājanwayadharūnaminkumyutawaffawnawa-alladhīna
And those whodieamong youand leave behind(their) wives(should make) a willfor their wivesprovisionforthe yearwithoutdriving (them) outBut ifthey leavethen noblameupon youinwhatthey doconcerningthemselves[of]honorablyAnd Allah(is) All-MightyAll-Wise
2:240
وَلِلْمُطَلَّقَـٰتِمَتَـٰعٌۢبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۖحَقًّاعَلَىٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīnaʿalāḥaqqanbil-maʿrūfimatāʿunwalil'muṭallaqāti
And for the divorced women(is) a provisionin a fair manner a dutyuponthe righteous
2:241
كَذَٰلِكَيُبَيِّنُٱللَّهُلَكُمْءَايَـٰتِهِۦلَعَلَّكُمْتَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūnalaʿallakumāyātihilakuml-lahuyubayyinukadhālika
Thusmakes clearAllahfor youHis Versesso that you mayuse your intellect
2:242
۞ أَلَمْتَرَإِلَىٱلَّذِينَخَرَجُوا۟مِندِيَـٰرِهِمْوَهُمْأُلُوفٌحَذَرَٱلْمَوْتِفَقَالَلَهُمُٱللَّهُمُوتُوا۟ثُمَّأَحْيَـٰهُمْ ۚإِنَّٱللَّهَلَذُوفَضْلٍعَلَىٱلنَّاسِوَلَـٰكِنَّأَكْثَرَٱلنَّاسِلَايَشْكُرُونَ
yashkurūnalāl-nāsiaktharawalākinnal-nāsiʿalāfaḍlinladhūl-lahainnaaḥyāhumthummamūtūl-lahulahumufaqālal-mawtiḥadharaulūfunwahumdiyārihimminkharajūalladhīnailātaraalam
Did notyou see[to]those whowent outfromtheir homesand they(were in) thousands(in) fear(of) [the] deathThen saidto themAllahDiethenHe restored them to lifeIndeedAllah(is) surely Possessor(of) bountyfor[the] mankind[and] butmost(of) the people(are) notgrateful
2:243
وَقَـٰتِلُوا۟فِىسَبِيلِٱللَّهِوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟أَنَّٱللَّهَسَمِيعٌعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunsamīʿunl-lahaannawa-iʿ'lamūl-lahisabīlifīwaqātilū
And fightin(the) way(of) Allahand knowthatAllah(is) All-HearingAll-Knowing
2:244
مَّنذَاٱلَّذِىيُقْرِضُٱللَّهَقَرْضًاحَسَنًۭافَيُضَـٰعِفَهُۥلَهُۥٓأَضْعَافًۭاكَثِيرَةًۭ ۚوَٱللَّهُيَقْبِضُوَيَبْصُۜطُوَإِلَيْهِتُرْجَعُونَ
tur'jaʿūnawa-ilayhiwayabṣuṭuyaqbiḍuwal-lahukathīratanaḍʿāfanlahufayuḍāʿifahuḥasananqarḍanl-lahayuq'riḍualladhīdhāman
Who(is) the onewhowill lend(to) Allah a loangoodso (that) He multiplies itfor him manifoldsmanyAnd Allahwithholdsand grants abundanceand to Himyou will be returned
2:245
أَلَمْتَرَإِلَىٱلْمَلَإِمِنۢبَنِىٓإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَمِنۢبَعْدِمُوسَىٰٓإِذْقَالُوا۟لِنَبِىٍّۢلَّهُمُٱبْعَثْلَنَامَلِكًۭانُّقَـٰتِلْفِىسَبِيلِٱللَّهِ ۖقَالَهَلْعَسَيْتُمْإِنكُتِبَعَلَيْكُمُٱلْقِتَالُأَلَّاتُقَـٰتِلُوا۟ ۖقَالُوا۟وَمَالَنَآأَلَّانُقَـٰتِلَفِىسَبِيلِٱللَّهِوَقَدْأُخْرِجْنَامِندِيَـٰرِنَاوَأَبْنَآئِنَا ۖفَلَمَّاكُتِبَعَلَيْهِمُٱلْقِتَالُتَوَلَّوْا۟إِلَّاقَلِيلًۭامِّنْهُمْ ۗوَٱللَّهُعَلِيمٌۢبِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
bil-ẓālimīnaʿalīmunwal-lahumin'humqalīlanillātawallawl-qitāluʿalayhimukutibafalammāwa-abnāinādiyārināminukh'rij'nāwaqadl-lahisabīlifīnuqātilaallālanāwamāqālūtuqātilūallāl-qitāluʿalaykumukutibainʿasaytumhalqālal-lahisabīlifīnuqātilmalikanlanāib'ʿathlahumulinabiyyinqālūidhmūsābaʿdiminis'rāīlabanīminl-mala-iilātaraalam
Did notyou see[towards]the chiefsof(the) Children(of) IsraelfromafterMusawhenthey saidto a Prophetof theirsAppointfor usa kingwe may fightin(the) way(of) AllahHe saidWouldyou perhaps ifprescribedupon you[the] fightingthat notyou fightThey saidAnd whatfor usthat notwe fightin(the) way(of) Allahwhile surelywe have been drivenfromour homesand our childrenYet, whenwas prescribedupon themthe fightingthey turned awayexcepta fewamong themAnd Allah(is) All-Knowingof the wrongdoers
2:246
وَقَالَلَهُمْنَبِيُّهُمْإِنَّٱللَّهَقَدْبَعَثَلَكُمْطَالُوتَمَلِكًۭا ۚقَالُوٓا۟أَنَّىٰيَكُونُلَهُٱلْمُلْكُعَلَيْنَاوَنَحْنُأَحَقُّبِٱلْمُلْكِمِنْهُوَلَمْيُؤْتَسَعَةًۭمِّنَٱلْمَالِ ۚقَالَإِنَّٱللَّهَٱصْطَفَىٰهُعَلَيْكُمْوَزَادَهُۥبَسْطَةًۭفِىٱلْعِلْمِوَٱلْجِسْمِ ۖوَٱللَّهُيُؤْتِىمُلْكَهُۥمَنيَشَآءُ ۚوَٱللَّهُوَٰسِعٌعَلِيمٌۭ
ʿalīmunwāsiʿunwal-lahuyashāumanmul'kahuyu'tīwal-lahuwal-jis'mil-ʿil'mifībasṭatanwazādahuʿalaykumiṣ'ṭafāhul-lahainnaqālal-māliminasaʿatanyu'tawalammin'hubil-mul'kiaḥaqquwanaḥnuʿalaynāl-mul'kulahuyakūnuannāqālūmalikanṭālūtalakumbaʿathaqadl-lahainnanabiyyuhumlahumwaqāla
And saidto themtheir ProphetIndeedAllah(has) surelyraisedfor youTalut(as) a kingThey saidHowcan befor himthe kingshipover uswhile we(are) more entitledto kingshipthan himand nothe has been givenabundanceof[the] wealthHe saidIndeedAllahhas chosen himover youand increased himabundantlyin[the] knowledgeand [the] physiqueAnd AllahgivesHis kingdom(to) whomHe willsAnd Allah(is) All-EncompassingAll-Knowing
2:247
وَقَالَلَهُمْنَبِيُّهُمْإِنَّءَايَةَمُلْكِهِۦٓأَنيَأْتِيَكُمُٱلتَّابُوتُفِيهِسَكِينَةٌۭمِّنرَّبِّكُمْوَبَقِيَّةٌۭمِّمَّاتَرَكَءَالُمُوسَىٰوَءَالُهَـٰرُونَتَحْمِلُهُٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ ۚإِنَّفِىذَٰلِكَلَـَٔايَةًۭلَّكُمْإِنكُنتُممُّؤْمِنِينَ
mu'minīnakuntuminlakumlaāyatandhālikafīinnal-malāikatutaḥmiluhuhārūnawaālumūsāālutarakamimmāwabaqiyyatunrabbikumminsakīnatunfīhil-tābūtuyatiyakumuanmul'kihiāyatainnanabiyyuhumlahumwaqāla
And saidto themtheir ProphetIndeeda sign(of) his kingship(is) thatwill come to youthe arkin it(is) tranquilityfromyour Lordand a remnantof what(was) left(by the) family(of) Musaand family(of) Harunwill carry itthe AngelsIndeedinthat(is) surely a signfor youifyou arebelievers
2:248
فَلَمَّافَصَلَطَالُوتُبِٱلْجُنُودِقَالَإِنَّٱللَّهَمُبْتَلِيكُمبِنَهَرٍۢفَمَنشَرِبَمِنْهُفَلَيْسَمِنِّىوَمَنلَّمْيَطْعَمْهُفَإِنَّهُۥمِنِّىٓإِلَّامَنِٱغْتَرَفَغُرْفَةًۢبِيَدِهِۦ ۚفَشَرِبُوا۟مِنْهُإِلَّاقَلِيلًۭامِّنْهُمْ ۚفَلَمَّاجَاوَزَهُۥهُوَوَٱلَّذِينَءَامَنُوا۟مَعَهُۥقَالُوا۟لَاطَاقَةَلَنَاٱلْيَوْمَبِجَالُوتَوَجُنُودِهِۦ ۚقَالَٱلَّذِينَيَظُنُّونَأَنَّهُممُّلَـٰقُوا۟ٱللَّهِكَممِّنفِئَةٍۢقَلِيلَةٍغَلَبَتْفِئَةًۭكَثِيرَةًۢبِإِذْنِٱللَّهِ ۗوَٱللَّهُمَعَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
l-ṣābirīnamaʿawal-lahul-lahibi-idh'nikathīratanfi-atanghalabatqalīlatinfi-atinminkaml-lahimulāqūannahumyaẓunnūnaalladhīnaqālawajunūdihibijālūtal-yawmalanāṭāqatalāqālūmaʿahuāmanūwa-alladhīnahuwajāwazahufalammāmin'humqalīlanillāmin'hufasharibūbiyadihighur'fatanigh'tarafamaniillāminnīfa-innahuyaṭʿamhulamwamanminnīfalaysamin'husharibafamanbinaharinmub'talīkuml-lahainnaqālabil-junūdiṭālūtufaṣalafalammā
Then whenset outTalutwith the forceshe saidIndeedAllahwill test youwith a riverSo whoeverdrinksfrom itthen he is notfrom meand whoever(does) nottaste itthen indeed, he(is) from meexceptwhoevertakes(in the) hollow(of) his handThen they drankfrom itexcepta fewof themThen whenhe crossed itheand those whobelievedwith himthey saidNostrengthfor ustodayagainst Jalutand his troopsSaidthose whowere certainthat they(would) meetAllahHow manyofa companysmallovercamea companylargeby (the) permission(of) AllahAnd Allah(is) withthe patient ones
2:249
وَلَمَّابَرَزُوا۟لِجَالُوتَوَجُنُودِهِۦقَالُوا۟رَبَّنَآأَفْرِغْعَلَيْنَاصَبْرًۭاوَثَبِّتْأَقْدَامَنَاوَٱنصُرْنَاعَلَىٱلْقَوْمِٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīnal-qawmiʿalāwa-unṣur'nāaqdāmanāwathabbitṣabranʿalaynāafrighrabbanāqālūwajunūdihilijālūtabarazūwalammā
And whenthey went forthto (face) Jalutand his troopsthey saidOur LordPouron uspatienceand make firmour feetand help usagainstthe people(who are) disbelieving
2:250
فَهَزَمُوهُمبِإِذْنِٱللَّهِوَقَتَلَدَاوُۥدُجَالُوتَوَءَاتَىٰهُٱللَّهُٱلْمُلْكَوَٱلْحِكْمَةَوَعَلَّمَهُۥمِمَّايَشَآءُ ۗوَلَوْلَادَفْعُٱللَّهِٱلنَّاسَبَعْضَهُمبِبَعْضٍۢلَّفَسَدَتِٱلْأَرْضُوَلَـٰكِنَّٱللَّهَذُوفَضْلٍعَلَىٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīnaʿalāfaḍlindhūl-lahawalākinnal-arḍulafasadatibibaʿḍinbaʿḍahuml-nāsal-lahidafʿuwalawlāyashāumimmāwaʿallamahuwal-ḥik'matal-mul'kal-lahuwaātāhujālūtadāwūduwaqatalal-lahibi-idh'nifahazamūhum
So they defeated themby (the) permission(of) Allahand killedDawoodJalutand gave himAllahthe kingdomand the wisdomand taught himthat whichHe willedAnd if not(for the) repelling(by) Allah[the] people some of themwith otherscertainly (would have) corruptedthe Earth[and] butAllah(is) Possessor(of) bountytothe worlds
2:251
تِلْكَءَايَـٰتُٱللَّهِنَتْلُوهَاعَلَيْكَبِٱلْحَقِّ ۚوَإِنَّكَلَمِنَٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
l-mur'salīnalaminawa-innakabil-ḥaqiʿalaykanatlūhāl-lahiāyātutil'ka
These(are the) Verses(of) AllahWe recite themto youin [the] truthAnd indeed, you(are) surely ofthe Messengers
2:252
